Historia
College student Joe Talbert has the modest goal of completing a writing assignment for an English class. His task is to interview a stranger and write a brief biography of the person. With deadlines looming, Joe heads to a nearby nursing home to find a willing subject. There he meets Carl Iverson, and soon nothing in Joe's life is ever the same. Carl is a dying Vietnam veteran-and a convicted murderer. With only a few months to live, he has been medically paroled to a nursing home after spending thirty years in prison for the crimes of rape and murder.

Emotionally charged
Revisado: 09-13-24
Gripping story expertly read by Villa. The story is engaging and well-written. Esken’s has a way with words. His descriptions are vivid and the storylines are complex.

Historia
I’ve been in this life for fifty years, been trying to work out its riddle for forty-two, and been keeping diaries of clues to that riddle for the last thirty-five. Notes about successes and failures, joys and sorrows, things that made me marvel, and things that made me laugh out loud. How to be fair. How to have less stress. How to have fun. How to hurt people less. How to get hurt less. How to be a good man. How to have meaning in life. How to be more me. Recently, I worked up the courage to sit down with those diaries.

Joyful and thoughtful. Raw and witty.
Revisado: 05-05-23
McConaughey’s storytelling shines. He’s pleasant to the ear and has lives quite the life so far. There are inspirational messages and plenty to consume. Memoirs are far more enjoyable when shared by the author. I hope he writes again.

Historia
Liam has always felt a bit like he’s stuck between two worlds. This is primarily because he’s a 12-year-old kid who looks like he’s about 30. Sometimes it’s not so bad, like when his new principal mistakes him for a teacher on the first day of school or when he convinces a car dealer to let him take a Porsche out on a test drive. But mostly it’s just frustrating, being a kid trapped in an adult world. And so he decides to flip things around.

Delightful story with interesting characters
Revisado: 03-29-23
Elementary school librarian sharing stories with my students. I enjoyed the unlikely story and the friendships that occurred throughout. Reminiscent of Dahl’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Great relationships portrayed and the narrator truly brought the personalities to life. Highly recommend this story for entertainment.

Historia
Chemist Elizabeth Zott is not your average woman. In fact, Elizabeth Zott would be the first to point out that there is no such thing as an average woman. But it’s the early 1960s and her all-male team at Hastings Research Institute takes a very unscientific view of equality. Except for one: Calvin Evans; the lonely, brilliant, Nobel–prize nominated grudge-holder who falls in love with—of all things—her mind. True chemistry results.

Loved the audio version of this creative story that feels empowering and magical! Great characters that I’d love to meet IRL and enough twists to keep the story interesting and real.
