Oh what a tangled web we weave…
I love the way Win puts all the pieces together and, in Harlan Coben fashion, there are a lot of pieces needed to put this story together before it ends!
Excellent narrator, intricate story, incredible ending!

Quick and Enjoyable!

Needed to occupy myself with something short and upbeat. This certainly filled the bill. Although predictable I thoroughly found it tender hearted and amusing. 👍🏻

Such an amazing story!

I’ve read The Book Woman of Troublesome Creek and was taken aback at the resilience of the main character. This book is a follow up showing more about the continuance of the unfair and unjust treatment of “The Blues” of Kentucky in the early 1950’s.
The journey of Honey and her strength and perseverance in becoming emancipated is definitely a worthwhile read. It’s hard to put this book down because of everything that’s going on there in that coal mining town. The people that befriend her are from all walks of life during that time but you can see how things have changed since her mother first became a book woman.
This is definitely a 5 star read and I hope that the author will continue to allow us to follow Honey’s life in subsequent books!

Strong women ahead of their time

Excellent parallel story about the lives of a young German girl and an English girl as they experience, and cope with, the Nazi invasion. As a reader you watch them growing up and making choices about how they want to live their lives during this difficult time period. Both these women become stronger as the war progresses. They were women ahead of their time each facing life changing experiences and made a difference in the lives of the people they met.
The story was well written describing the experiences of these women as they grew up without being tedious or long winded.
This is my first novel by Debbie Rix and I’m looking forward to reading more of her books!

Predictable

Started out extremely well and caught my interest. After a few chapters it seemed to drag on a bit. After that the plot became predictable and, although I didn’t, I wanted to skip to the end to find out how it turned out.
It’s not a bad read but not this author’s best book.

I learned a number of interesting facts and stories while listening to this audiobook. They were entertaining, but only a sentence or two long!
Unfortunately, facts were repeated and were counted as additional information/facts even though it was already shared!
Definitely worth $1-1.50 not much more.
