Holly is dealing with the impending death of her grandmother and still reeling from a bad breakup. One bright spot: a Valentine’s Day card on Holly’s windshield—even if it wasn’t meant for her. An amusing mistake soon turns into a lovely exchange of anonymous notes, little acts of kindness, and a growing affection between two strangers. What happens when one of them has to say goodbye?

Cute story of near misses and chance meeting… it’s all about timing and being in the right place emotionally and physically too I guess.
I have just recently discovered Abby Jimenez but have devoured every book I can get my hands on and I think her writing is so honest and real with a smattering of humor. She often touches on tough mental health topics along with real health issues and shows the reality of that on her characters. I highly recommend her books to anyone that isn’t afraid to laugh and maybe cry too while reading.

Historia
It’s not easy serving Chernobog, the God of Destruction, Darkness and Death…especially during the holidays; and especially when you’re out of eggnog and one of your pesky, freeloading mythic creatures has eaten your last cookie. Roman would like nothing more than to be left alone, but when a wounded boy stumbles into his yard and begs for sanctuary, Roman takes him in. Now elite mercenaries are camped out on his property, combat mages are dousing the house with fire, and strange priests are unleashing arcane magic.

Holiday story about Roman, priest of Chernobog
Revisado: 09-29-24
Roman is in his home, minding his own business with his creatures when a wounded boy and his dog show up and ask for sanctuary. When mercenaries, mages, and priests show up throwing magic around, Roman's protective side shows up and look out... The Good: I like Roman, I like how his duty protect comes out. I liked getting more back story on Roman, his brother, family. The twist with the boys sister was unexpected, but interested to see if this continues into the next series book. Fingers are crossed. The Not so Good: This is very heavy in mythology and it seems a mix of several cultures and lore. I know this is an area that the authors are passionate about, it became just a bit much for my non-myth loving mind to absorb at times. Full disclosure, I am a BDHer, so I just take a deep breath and listen through until I can grasp the storyline again. I started with the serial on this one and then hit pause and waited for the final book. Thank you to #netgalley and #ilonaandrews for this ARC. Publication date July 30, 2004. I also purchased #sanctuary in audiobook format and it was great. All opinions expressed in this review are my own.

Action, Supernatural, lots of plot...
Revisado: 09-29-24
Nell Ingram has a dead body on her compound... The sixth book in the Soulwood series combines vampires, shifters, a skinwalker, and the light dragons on her lands. The fight seems to have come home to Soulwood this time. The vampires are experiencing the after affects of another woo woo event that has gone down, and not their normal 'soul less' selves. There seems to be an ancient vamp looking to ride arcenciels to a time when they can cause harm. And there are a lot of moving pieces as Psyled is involved. The good: Lots of interaction and references to the Jane series. Like the growing relationship of Nell and Skywind (Jane's brother)'s boss. Nell's gets a new friend with Occom's ex, Yummy and her own clan grows. Love the Mud moments, she would be a great spin off. The not so good: not much... Just a lot of moving pieces, and characters. If you have not been a fan of the Jane Yellowrock series, the two world collide with this book. Ricky Bo, Youngbloods, and all seem to be tapped into this one. Which I really enjoyed, but if you have not read both series it is complicated. Highly recommend both Soulwood and Yellowrock series to anyone that enjoys UF. Thank you to #netgalley and Berkley Publishing Group / Ace for this ARC. Publication date March 5th 2004. I also purchased #Riftinthesoul in audiobook format and it was excellent. Raphael and Elena are experiencing their first ever year of true peace. No war. No horrors of archangelic power. No nightmares given flesh. Until . . . the earth beneath the Refuge begins to tremble, endangering not only angelkind's precious and fragile young, but the very place that has held their most innocent safe for eons.

Another win for the Guild Hunter archangel series
Revisado: 05-16-24
I really enjoyed this edition of the Guild Hunter archangel series. Got a very quick snippet of peace and happiness before it all starts crumbling down, literally. Something is shaking the foundation of angelkind, no big baddie but all of the earth itself. On the homefront, Elena is pulled back to NYC and divided by her father's health and dangers of world events. I actually enjoyed this book much more than recent books in this series. Felt like we got a peek at several of the side characters, but Elena and Rafael are front and center again in this one. Love their love! and a new character is introduced. Just when we think we have mysterious sleeping angels, we get a hint of much much more. Also, Elena's time with her sisters and family was extremely rewarding. Thank you #netgalley #nalinisingh for this ARC. Publication date is currently set for April 23, 2024. All opinions expressed in this review are my own. I also purchased this book in audio format and it was a great listen, too. #ArchangelsLineage

Historia
Enigmatic. With a wildly gifted mind, and an untamed head of hair to match, petite powerhouse Millicent Frost is brilliant when it comes to gadgets and electronics—less so with people. After an attempt to bust a bank scam goes awry, Millie is in hot water with Homeland Security and targeted by lethal enemies. In the midst of the trouble, she heads home to help out with the family hunting and fishing business. But when their rival competitor and Millie's ex is murdered, she's the number one suspect.

Great Opposites Attract
Revisado: 02-19-24
What happens when a beautiful gadget geek who works for Homeland Security (and HATES lawyers), has to depend on an attorney to prove she isn't a killer? Sparks fly... When these two opposites have to work together they sizzle, if only they can stay alive long enough to see where this new attraction can go.
Millie is an electronics whiz that has worked with the Deep Ops team on several cases and is currently on an undercover case to discover the financial misdeeds of a banking executive for HSS. The same executive is also an unfaithful husband and Scott Terentson is representing his soon to be ex-wife as her divorce attorney as a special favor to his mother. When Millie and Scott collide at the office of the cheater, Scott jeopardizes Millie's undercover job for his client. Once again reinforcing that lawyers cannot be trusted. But when Millie is accused of murder and her life is threatened, it's Scott that comes to her aid and his need to protect quickly turns into something more.
I really enjoyed this edition of the Deep Ops series, which is a must buy for me. I have followed this series from the beginning and it helps to read this series in order since Deep Ops team members make an appearance in this book. It’s what they do when one of their own is in danger. Cannot wait until the next book... And yes, Roscoe is a central character in this book and he may or may not have discovered alcohol and helped himself to some designer heels... Always nice to have some fun in the middle of the murder, mystery and mayhem.

Same state, same agents, new killer
Revisado: 08-16-23
Rating 4 1/2 stars. Another solid addition to the Laurel Snow series. Crazy sister is back and Laurel is navigating all her manipulations and issues, assuming she doesn’t want to kill her yet. And Mr Huckalicious is present and involved with the hunt for the latest serial killer. I’m thinking… with each book set in the Pacific Northwest winter and has a serial killer present, I would never want to visit that part of the woods, state, region. Audio version was awesome too.

Fantastic to listen to both beginning books of the series in audio. Relocation to Wilmington didn’t disappoint. Always a favorite! Keep this series going!

Historia
Calling Laurel Snow's relationship with her newly discovered half-sister challenging is an understatement. Not only does Laurel suspect Abigail is behind the mysterious disappearance of their father, but her erratic behavior also makes life in Laurel's small hometown interesting, to say the least. Still, when Abigail claims someone is now out to kill her, Laurel's instinct to protect her sister goes into overdrive. Then things get even more dicey as dead bodies start turning up in the icy waters of the Sauk River and there's only one connection among them: Abigail . . .

Another great Laurel Snow read!
Revisado: 12-07-22
This is the second book in the series that follows FBI Special Agent Laurel Snow and her team as they solve the latest in a string of murders that appears to be another serial killer. This one strikes close to home as it appears her socially challenged half-sister may be a target. The good: Really like how Laurel Snow's character is developing and her growing team of staff and supporting agents. The not so good: Would really like to see a more romantic storyline develop with her and Huck Rivers, but this is more of a Mystery/ Suspense so I guess we must be patient with the Romantic trickle... and her sister is nuts!! Not sure if its entertaining or distracting, TBD. Listened to this in audio and a very good read!
