Historia
Fifteen months ago Detective Lindsay Boxer's life was perfect - she had a beautiful child and a doting husband, Joe, who helped her catch a criminal who'd brazenly detonated a bomb in downtown San Francisco, killing 25 people. But Joe wasn't everything that Lindsay thought he was, and she's still reeling from his betrayal as a wave of mysterious and possibly unnatural heart attacks claims seemingly unrelated victims across San Francisco.

Cookie Cutter story .. yet again !!!
Revisado: 05-06-17
This series has gone on way too long and the stories are hollow with the same words and overly flowery descriptions of inane objects to justify the number of words needed to make it a novel . I get sucked in every time and still I don't learn - I think Audible needs to ban me from being allowed to download this series.

YUK !!!
Revisado: 07-13-15
I must have lead a very sheltered life but I found this book stomach churning in places. I also found myself questioning why this depravity had been allowed to go on so long
unaccountable .The only reason I perservered to the end was because I hoped there would be a plausible explanation but NOPE.
I know this goes against all other reviews but it is how I felt after listening to this book.

Germany, 1660: When a dying boy is pulled from the river with a mark crudely tattooed on his shoulder, hangman Jakob Kuisl is called upon to investigate whether witchcraft is at play in his small Bavarian town. Whispers and dark memories of witch trials and the women burned at the stake just seventy years earlier still haunt the streets of Schongau.

I Loved it !!!
Revisado: 06-05-15
I read the previous reviews of this book and was a bit apprehensive. I am so glad I went ahead and downloaded it. I thought the writing was great. The storyline plodded along at a lovely pace. Not sure about the historical accuracies but you know what - who cares. I read it for its entertainment value not the correctness of facts.
If you are after a fairly meaty book without too many plot twists and turns this is the book for you. Cant wait to listen to the next book in the series..

I hesitated to download this book because it was a huge commitment at 36 hours but I have enjoyed every minute and didnt want it to end. Ken Follett has the ability to make you bond with the characters and feel real emotions for them.
I enjoyed this the most out of the series possibly because it is an era I remember most of the things happening,

Historia
For 50 years Anna Schlemmer has refused to talk about her life in Germany during World War II. Her daughter, Trudy, was only three when she and her mother were liberated by an American soldier and went to live with him in Minnesota. Trudy's sole evidence of the past is an old photograph: a family portrait showing Anna, Trudy, and a Nazi officer, the Obersturnfuhrer of Buchenwald.

Tried but could'nt do it
Revisado: 09-13-14
As I am from a generation that didnt have to live through this era I have always had an interest in both sides of the story. Try as I might I couldnt get into this book. I kept coming back to it hoping I was in a better frame of mind to listen but eventually I gave up.
I think the narrator was wrong- she sounded like a litlle girl and which was off-putting as well as very irritating. It got to the point where i didnt care what happened anymore !! which is quite disturbing as it sounded like a story that needed to be told.
I will just have to rely on reviews and hopefully be able to work out what happened.

Mr Patterson I am very disappointed !
Revisado: 10-02-13
James Patterson should be embarrassed to put his name to this book. I am an avid reader of his novels so consider myself a fair critic of his work. this would have to be the worst book I have ever had the misfortune to listen to. The family are too perfect and without giving anything away the storyline is so unbelievable I couldnt believe we were expected to stomach the things an experienced LAPD detective let his family do whilst in witness protection.
I bought the book to read- couldnt get into it so stupidly bought the audiobook- worse mistake. Luckily it was heavily reduced - I now know why. Save your money and ask someone else what happens. Having said that I probably will give the next book a go to see if he is still insulting our intelligence. Listen at your own peril.

Dull
Revisado: 07-21-13
What disappointed you about To the Power of Three?
I found the story hard to keep up with. Not sure if this was because it was abridged but it seemed to jump between present and past with no warning. Maybe I was'nt paying attention and was missing bits as my mind did tend to wander because it was quite a dull listen
What could Laura Lippman have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
Not sure. I think her style of writing isnt for me.
What didn’t you like about Linda Emond’s performance?
Her voice seemed to drone
Any additional comments?
Maybe try an unabridged version - its a risk as it may be even more boring to listen to and longer !!

This was a thoroughly enjoyable read. The characters are human and you find yourself gunning for them. No unexpected twists or turns but still a really good read. Well worth the credit.

The German shepherd survived three tours in Iraq and Afghanistan sniffing explosives before she lost her handler to an IED and sniper attack, and her PTSD is as bad as Scott’s. I was pleasantly surprised
Revisado: 02-15-13
I read the other reviews and thought this sounds a bit lame. I wouldn't call myself a dog lover but I was intrigued how this would play out. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Unlike Clayton who obviously went in with great expectations I had none.As long as you aren't after any
in-depth analysis of the two main characters psyche you should enjoy the book. I had never read any of Robert Crais previous books so had no idea how he wrote but it kept me entertained and the bond forming between the two was touching. I would definitely recommend this but don't expect anything too deep.
