Historia
Buckhead isn’t a place you live, it’s a place you survive. And that applies even to the wealthy housewives that have it all. Fancy cars, designer clothes, and daily salon appointments aren’t nearly enough to keep them fulfilled and happy. Because in this town, privilege and opulence go hand in hand with betrayal and revenge. Jenny, the owner of Glow, an exclusive membership-only beauty salon, knows that better than anyone, because she knows everything about these housewives—down to each individual strand of hair.

The whole series is wonderful
Revisado: 07-24-22
Both the writing and Zoe Mills' narration were excellent. I got the first book on a whim as it was included with my membership. I ended up binge-listening to the entire series! It's actually classified as a children's book, but I found it enticing and well written. Never felt like I was listening to a kids' book.

Historia
When Pentagon bioterror operative Roberto Diaz was sent to investigate a suspected biochemical attack, he found something far worse: a highly mutative organism capable of extinction-level destruction. He contained it and buried it in cold storage deep beneath a little-used military repository. Now, after decades of festering in a forgotten sub-basement, the specimen has found its way out and is on a lethal feeding frenzy. Only Diaz knows how to stop it.

stellar narration by Rupert Friend
Revisado: 12-17-20
This was one of the most entertaining books I've listened to in a long time. good story and a stellar combination of well-drawn characters and a daring narrator who made bold choices and found humor where others would not.
I have lost a few nights sleep with this one. I usually listen at night and konk out within 10 minutes or so. not this time! It was That Good!

It's America in 1962. Slavery is legal once again. The few Jews who still survive hide under assumed names. In San Francisco, the I Ching is as common as the Yellow Pages. All because some twenty years earlier the United States lost a war - and is now occupied by Nazi Germany and Japan.

Historia
In March 1836, the Mexican army led by General Santa Anna massacred more than 200 Texians who had been trapped in the Alamo. After 13 days of fighting, American legends Jim Bowie and Davey Crockett died there, along with other Americans who had moved to Texas looking for a fresh start. It was a crushing blow to Texas' fight for freedom. But the story doesn’t end there. The defeat galvanized the Texian settlers, and under General Sam Houston’s leadership, they rallied. Six weeks after the Alamo, Houston and his band of settlers defeated Santa Anna’s army in a shocking victory.

Brian Kilmeade is an engaging storyteller
Revisado: 11-13-19
Listening to this book is just like listening to Brian on the radio. The book moves quickly and does a great job of telling the stories of Sam Houston, Stephen Austin, Davey Crockett, Jim Bowie and others. It's a fun and informative read. I am new to Texas, having moved here just one year ago. I consider this required reading! I'm living right where these events took place.
Well researched and well written. Well-worth you time.

Historia
On the first Sunday in December 1941, an armada of Japanese warplanes appeared suddenly over Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, and devastated the U.S. Pacific Fleet. Six months later, in a sea fight north of the tiny atoll of Midway, four Japanese aircraft carriers were sent into the abyss. Pacific Crucible tells the epic tale of these first searing months of the Pacific war, when the U.S. Navy shook off the worst defeat in American military history and seized the strategic initiative.

Surprisingly Engaging
Revisado: 07-02-15
What made the experience of listening to Pacific Crucible: War at Sea in the Pacific, 1941-1942 the most enjoyable?
The narration by Grover Gardener is top notch. The writing style is very engaging.
What other book might you compare Pacific Crucible: War at Sea in the Pacific, 1941-1942 to and why?
I read Unbroken by Laura Hillenbrand a couple of years ago and together these two books have given me an understanding of the Pacific War I never had before.
What about Grover Gardner’s performance did you like?
He has a very clear style of delivery that clips along at a steady pace and yet he is able to capture every nuance of the story. And it is, indeed a story. With colorful characters, high drama and tension.
Any additional comments?
I knew nothing about the war in the Pacific before this. I've never taken a particular interest in military history, but this book has so engaged me that I've purchased the print copy as a companion edition to the audiobook. I want to see the photos in order to connect faces to the many names in the book and the maps are an invaluable resource in understanding the Japanese strategy and objectives. Waiting anxiously for the release of the next book in September, 2015.

Historia
Funnyman Adam Carolla is known for two things: hilarious rants about things that drive him crazy and personal stories about everything from his hardscrabble childhood to his slacker friends to the hypocrisy of Hollywood. He tackled rants in his first book, and now he tells his best stories and debuts some never-before-heard tales as well. Adam Carolla started broke and blue collar and has now been on the Hollywood scene for over 15 years. Yet he never lost his underdog demeanor.

Couldn't help it. I laughed my butt off.

Would you listen to Not Taco Bell Material again? Why?
This was really entertaining. Unlike most audiobooks, this one feels very improvisational (quite probably IS) and contains a bunch of stuff not in the print book. Loved the special appearances, too.
Who was your favorite character and why?
I've been a fan of Adam's since he started at KROQ. Honestly, girls, if you want to get a better understanding of the male species, listen to this book. It'll clarify everything. Just listen to it by yourself because some of it is really disgusting and you won't want anyone else to know that you find it funny. It's just too twisted for public consumption. I'm just mortified to tell you how much fun it was....
