This is a great motivational book for artists trying to get a professional footing. Steven Pressfield is as relentless and uncompromising as a drill instructor, and one does get really pumped and motivated going through this book. Pressfield is not afraid of describing the hardships and sacrifices of dedicating oneself to the arts, making the book more than just an unrealistic coaching excercise.
Highly recommended for artists trying to get professional.

This novel was pretty much perfect from start to finish. I got completely engrossed in the life of William Stoner, and the book made me reflect upon my own life and person. It is many ways a very tragic novel, but also - in a strange way - uplifting and empowering. I'm a beginner to this kind of fiction, and I found it a very good entry point for someone who wants to start reading more.
The narration by Robin Field was spot on, imbuing the characters with a sense of pathos that makes one care about what is happening to them.
