It’s kind of funny to me that these bedtime stories are performed by well known actors. I do wonder if they tell their friends and family “My voice literally puts people to sleep.” I use the end of chapter sleep time so I don’t know how long I made it but I feel asleep pretty quickly.

It is a juvenile book. What I like is that it reminds me of summers in RI at a beach house with my mom and family before she passed from cancer. This is mirrored in the story. What I dislike is that this is a book where nothing really happens, I mean, at all. Though nothing happens, the book is then left in a cliffhanger so you buy the next in the series. That will definitely not happen. Thankful that this was free in the Audible+ catalog.

This program is good for those who may be scared of the paranormal or not understand it. The more you understand the metaphysical, the more you are an to access the power that you already have but have forgotten about or been blocking out. One of the guests explains that communicating with spirits is connecting to the forces of nature and I couldn’t agree more. I believe some of the presenters would be considered enlightened beings and I hope that listening to this only opens up more minds which elevates the powers of all. Namaste.

Who cares if there’s more records? Julia is not entitled to them

This is more like a podcast than an audiobook. I found it to be extremely frustrating but I’m glad I listened to it.

The fact that Julia wants records, wants recognition for her long lost family member is great, I want a billion dollars but we can’t get everything that we want and that’s life. The fact that she doesn’t understand why the Irish government and health services wouldn’t want millions diverted from causes that can make a difference now so that she and a few other families can have what they feel they’re entitled to in retrospect is frustrating.

The author hints at knowing this but also continues the native that something mysterious is at play, it’s not—what they believe they’re entitled to costs real money, labor and liability that you don’t just have the right to a century later. You know what else you’re not entitled to? Current medical records for family members or recently deceased mentally healthy patients. You’re also not entitled to your deceased or living family members’ brokerage records/notes/conversations if you didn’t have legal capacity in the account when decisions were made. Why? Because it opens up liability on something that you were not privy to nor were a decision maker in the first place. You need a valid court order for those things. No business or government is going to have someone looking back with 20/20 hindsight picking apart what they did when these relatives never paid for any of the services or expenses to begin with. It’s easy to say what someone should have done when you weren’t involved monetarily or physically.

The author/narrator is also very hard to understand at times. I still have no idea how much Julia runs even though I replayed it 3X. Definitely a heavy regional dialect. For this reason, I wish there was some sort of CC but I understand why as an audiobook provider, Audible can’t do that.

This is a great little story about tea, self care, relaxing and will put you to sleep almost instantly. It helps that I’m listening to all the other Audible books at 1.7-2.2X so this slow, steady reader lulls me right away but I don’t feel like I need to stay away to finish the story like I do with the rest of my catalog.

Good Cautionary Tales

There’s a little bit of metaphysical stuff but mostly these are good cautionary tales: Why you don’t immediately jump out and help car crash victims in the middle of nowhere or follow the sounds of crying babies into dark alleys. Good stories to remind you to listen toto your 6th sense and be vigilant because not everyone has good intentions.

If you’re looking for an anthology of ghost stories for Halloween, this is not your audiobook. This is good for your tween, teen going off to college, someone that likes to travel solo or for someone that really doesn’t have street smarts.

The Importance of Reporters in the Shaping of Legal Practices

This isn’t a longterm account of living in a mental institution—it’s very much a visitor’s account but it does offer a thought provoking peek into American history. One of the biggest takeaways that I got from this short tale is the importance of journalists and reporters in the past and how closely intertwined they were in the legal system. This book is a simple listen and would likely be rated PG.

It was an easy listen that highlights many real-life, relatable, easy to understand situations that can be easily improved by evaluating.

I think this a good book for any age, as conversations and relationships can always be improved. The sooner that you understand these principals, the better your life will be.

I also like how there are multiple readers as sometimes it only tastes a different voice to be able to understand and relate to subject matter. I would recommend this to anyone ages 10-125.

This is a firsthand account of something I hope none of us have to experience—life in the concentration camps, the extermination of life in the pursuit of war and hate. It’s poignant, succinct and even with the deep horror of the situations not overly gory or gruesome—just enough to get the messages across and convey to true horrors of antisemitism and the Holocaust.

History forgotten is repeated and I strongly recommend this book to anyone considering listening to it. Please note there is a preface at the end of this publication however it does make sense to listen to it after finishing the book instead of first.

I purchased this book because of its high accolades but I have been struggling just to finish it. It doesn’t all add up, specifically the burns on a family member(I won’t spoil it) could not have been possible to the extent that she describes if you just google a photo of that family member. The education portion of her youth could also not possibly have been what she states if she was the just able to pick up textbooks and begin to teach herself. The family members are frustrating and depressing as is the tone of this entire book. It did give me a peek into peoples lives that I would never emulate, simulate, visit, etc. but this should have been much shorter and more poignant. Not sure why it’s so highly regarded.
