Historia
The story opens with the apparently accidental drowning of a sixth form student in the Norfolk countryside. As a matter of routine, or so it seems, the case passes across the desk of Detective Sergeant Smith, recently returned to work after an internal investigation into another case that has led to tensions between officers at Kings Lake police headquarters. As an ex-DCI, Smith could have retired by now, and it is clear that some of his superiors wish that he would do so.

Well written and great performance.

I tend to be highly selective and overly critical, but my inner editor found no distracting flaws in the prose or narration. Entertaining and well done. I might even listen to this again.

Can’t listen any more
Revisado: 04-01-23
I like Armitage, but find the story predictable and poorly written, The writing feels unimaginative, overly dramatic to the point of cheesy, and ultimately tiresome, I really wanted to like this book, but I don’t think I’ll be continuing the series.

Great narration, predictable and dull story
Revisado: 01-23-23
I feel like the writing in this series is lazy- the only evocative analogies are distracting and repetitive, to the point of becoming annoying the listener. The main character’s farting couch and pube-like hair get a mention in every book, as though the author can’t be bothered to come up with better descriptors. The storyline is on the predictable side, and I don’t feel particularly invested in the love lives of characters who constantly lie and dissemble. A little disappointing, especially from such a great storyteller!

Historia
A young, naïve but ultimately courageous hedge knight, Ser Duncan the Tall towers above his rivals—in stature if not experience. Tagging along is his diminutive squire, a boy called Egg—whose true name is hidden from all he and Dunk encounter. Though more improbable heroes may not be found in all of Westeros, great destinies lay ahead for these two . . . as do powerful foes, royal intrigue, and outrageous exploits. Featuring more than 160 all-new illustrations by Gary Gianni, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is a must-have collection that proves chivalry isn’t dead—yet.

Historia
Charlie Reade looks like a regular high school kid, great at baseball and football, a decent student. But he carries a heavy load. His mom was killed in a horrific accident when he was seven, and grief drove his dad to drink. Charlie learned how to take care of himself—and his dad. When Charlie is seventeen, he meets a dog named Radar and her aging master, Howard Bowditch, a recluse in a big house at the top of a big hill, with a locked shed in the backyard. Sometimes strange sounds emerge from that shed.

Sorry I wasted a credit on this
Revisado: 10-30-22
Just irritating from start to finish. I kept hoping it would improve but I don’t think I’ll be listening to any more Steven King. The writing is pompous, the story relatively unimaginative and it sounded like a old man was talking from a wealthy baby boomer’s rich life experiences, instead of the youthful perspective of the 26 year old who was supposed to be telling the story. That’s what made it so hard to engage in any suspension of disbelief. The narrator’s voice eventually started grating on my nerves.

Historia
Few books have captivated the imagination and won the devotion and praise of readers and critics everywhere as has George R. R. Martin’s monumental epic cycle of high fantasy that began with A Game of Thrones. Now, in A Feast for Crows, Martin delivers the long-awaited fourth book of his landmark series, as a kingdom torn asunder finds itself at last on the brink of peace . . . only to be launched on an even more terrifying course of destruction.

Not a fan of this narrator
Revisado: 10-18-22
He makes all the women sound like old crones with the horrible accent of an Irish crab. And Tyrion has a similarly annoying accent, yet his siblings and other family members do not. Eventually the sound is just annoying to listen to.

Historia
The cloistered grounds of the convent have traditionally represented a place of faith and peace. Now, that peace is shattered as two nuns are found, one dead, one mortally wounded. The killings appear to be without motive, without an obvious suspect, and are further complicated by the murder and mutilation of a third woman. Together, medical examiner Maura Isles and intense, moody homicide detective Jane Rizzoli uncover an ancient horror that connects these terrible slaughters.

Good story
Revisado: 08-21-22
The narrator does a good job, but occasionally makes the characters, especially the children, sound overly whiny or pouty and not particularly credible, which I found a little distracting.

Spend your $$ and credits elsewhere!!
Revisado: 08-02-21
I bought a bunch of Joel Thielke/Erik Brown recordings, and I regret it. They annoy me to no end with mispronounced words or phrases, sloppy transitions, poor/lazy script writing, endless ocean sounds to fill the void… much of which should have been corrected in the recording studio. I find the walk down the staircases so tedious that I finally have to turn them off halfway through. The visualizations are repetitive instead of relaxing, and tedious instead of inspirational. If the goal is to help yourself relax or remember how valuable you are, spend your money and time on something that respects your intellect. The author clearly doesn’t put much thought or effort into these.
