Not a book to be abridged

I've read the hardcopy three times in the last 8 years and this abridgement is ridiculously short. So much is left out - not just passages but entire generations of people and their relationships. Sex between white people is kept in but key political events and relationships that form the base of incidents are missing. It's a 2D version of a rich multidimensional tale so complex the hard copy has family trees in the book for the Secrets, Turners and slaves.
