Historia
Robert McCammon brings the hero of his previous novel, Matthew Corbett, to 18th-century New York, where a killer wields a bloody and terrifying power over a bustling city carving out its identity - and over Matthew's own uncertain destiny.
The unsolved murder of a respected doctor has sent ripples of fear throughout a city teeming with life and noise and commerce. Who snuffed out the good man's life with the slash of a blade on a midnight street? The local printmaster has labeled the fiend "the Masker," adding fuel to a volatile mystery...

Incredibly fun. Goes by in a blink
Revisado: 03-21-25
McCammon has such beautiful flow. I never get tired of listening or reading any of his books. I think this book is superior to the first in the series, and that’s saying something. Edoardo Ballerini might be the best narrator in the business. Absolutely fantastic.

Worst narration on Audible
Revisado: 12-10-24
I have never stopped a book because the narrator is so awful. But I just couldn’t take it anymore. It was so distracting I couldn’t focus on the story. Every line is read with the exact same inflection. It sounds like the old narrator from movie trailers. The accents are all the same. The dramatic pauses don’t make sense. Everyone says the story is great but I would avoid this version. Terrible!

Historia
David Loogan is living in Ann Arbor with Detective Elizabeth Waishkey and her daughter, Sarah. He's settled into a quiet routine as editor of the mystery magazine Gray Streets - until one day he finds a manuscript outside his door. It begins: "I killed Henry Kormoran." Anthony Lark has a list of names: Terry Dawtrey, Sutton Bell, Henry Kormoran. To his eyes, the names glow red on the page. They move. They breathe. The people on the list have little in common, except that 17 years ago they were involved in a notorious robbery.

Entertaining, Quick and Fun

Narrator is great. The story is fun, summer read. There is nothing great about it though. Still, not a huge investment of time. So worth it.

Historia
In a scrap heap within an abandoned factory, the greatest invention in history lies dormant and unused. By what fatal error of judgment has its value gone unrecognized, its brilliant inventor punished rather than rewarded for his efforts? In defense of those greatest of human qualities that have made civilization possible, one man sets out to show what would happen to the world if all the heroes of innovation and industry went on strike.

An important book
Revisado: 08-28-24
Scott Brick is an excellent narrator and captured the essence of the characters perfectly. Atlas Shrugged is a call back to the values that built this country and, just as in the book, are now looked down upon by the cult of grievance.

Historia
Throughout these books, Follett has followed the fortunes of five intertwined families - American, German, Russian, English, and Welsh - as they make their way through the twentieth century. Now they come to one of the most tumultuous eras of all: the enormous social, political, and economic turmoil of the 1960s through the 1980s, from civil rights, assassinations, mass political movements and Vietnam to the Berlin Wall, the Cuban Missile Crisis, presidential impeachment, revolution - and rock and roll.

Disappointing, tedious... not worth the time.
Revisado: 08-01-24
The Century Trilogy is no where near Follett at his best but the first two volumes were really good, with characters you cared about. The third and final installment is an overly long, tedious slog to an already known ending. Each time I got invested in a character's journey he would deviate to another character for 200 pages. The worst part is that he turned this into a political screed. Having a perspective is fine but he was straight up rewriting history. it's just not good enough for the time invested.

Historia
Near the end of the Second World War, the United States made a bold strategic gambit that rewired the international system. Empires were abolished and replaced by a global arrangement enforced by the U.S. Navy. With all the world's oceans safe for the first time in history, markets and resources were made available for everyone. Enemies became partners. We think of this system as normal—it is not. We live in an artificial world on borrowed time.

This material is endlessly fascinating. Normally I hate when authors read their own work but it's definitely necessary for this content. Zeihan is an entertaining narrator, as well. Worth the listen.

A fun listen
Revisado: 08-10-23
I've seen other reviewers picking apart the literary qualities of the writing, but I think that might be a bit of over analyzing. This is a really fun adventure story with really cool elements. I never mention details of the story but my one criticism would be the ending. It was a little too quick and a little too clean given the length of the story. There were also some important elements of the story that were never fully realized. 8 out 10.

Wonderful performances
Revisado: 07-03-23
I've never made it through every Narnia book before. This edition made that easy. My favorite performance was Kenneth Branagh's reading of Book 1, but they were all great. Great value to get them all with one credit.
