The Worst Ever!
Revisado: 07-20-23
This is just the worst book that I've ever gotten through. If I was a teenager, maybe I'd like it. That feels like the target audience. There is nothing I recommend about it.

Most melodramatic reading ever
Revisado: 11-10-21
The story is pretty good, not great but I would have enjoyed it but for the reader. At first I loved her Irish accent. Soon however, it became a one tone over the top melodramatic mess.

Historia
Marianne has a life others dream of. A beautiful townhouse on the best street in the neighbourhood. Three bright children who are her pride and joy. Sometimes her past still hurts: losing her mother early, growing up in foster care. But her husband, Simon, is always there. A successful surgeon, he’s the envy of every woman they’ve ever met. Flowers, gifts, trips to France: nothing is too good for his family. Then Simon says another woman’s name. The way he lingers on it, Caroline, gives Marianne a shudder of suspicion, but she knows it’s nothing - she can’t entertain this flash of paranoia.

I couldn't finish it. I stuck it out until chapter 28. The wife is such an idiot, and the husband is almost a cartoonish evil man. Awful.

Read, don't listen!
Revisado: 12-04-17
Is there anything you would change about this book?
The narrator!!!!
How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?
It was implausible, but fun.
How did the narrator detract from the book?
She spoke like someone just learning english, over enunciating all consonants. It was strange. Really bad.
Could you see Until I Met Her being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?
No
Any additional comments?
It would be a fun listen with a different reader.

Historia
We expect our judges to be honest and wise. Their integrity and impartiality are the bedrock of the entire judicial system. We trust them to ensure fair trials, to protect the rights of all litigants, to punish those who do wrong, and to oversee the orderly and efficient flow of justice. But what happens when a judge bends the law or takes a bribe? It’s rare, but it happens. Lacy Stoltz is an investigator for the Florida Board on Judicial Conduct. She is a lawyer, not a cop, and it is her job to respond to complaints dealing with judicial misconduct.

Good story, wrong reader.
Revisado: 09-27-17
Very good, interesting story. Although the main character is a woman, most of the others are not. And as it's not first person, it felt to me that it would have been better with a male reader. But don't let that stop you - it's worth the credit.

What disappointed you about Kingdom Come?
To me it reads like a romance novel. Not my genre.
Would you ever listen to anything by Jane Jensen again?
Unlikely
What aspect of Rachel Fulginiti’s performance would you have changed?
She was okay, I just couldn't get past the material.
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
Boredom.

Revisado: 08-08-11
I thought I knew so much about these two, and this era. It was interesting to bring more clarity to the times they lived in. But the greater gift here is Patti Smiths' clear, poetic telling of this deep intimate, artistic relationship. It's wonderful to hear it in her voice. It's just beautiful.

He was a tough-guy Welshman softened by the affections of a breathtakingly beautiful woman; she was a modern-day Cleopatra madly in love with her own Mark Antony. For nearly a quarter of a century, Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton were Hollywood royalty, and their fiery romance - often called "the marriage of the century" - was the most notorious, publicized, and celebrated love affair of its day.

Revisado: 07-03-10
The narrator took me a little while to warm up to, but then I liked him a lot. Subtle, good accents. It was wonderful hearing the letters that Richard wrote to Elizabeth, some of them even written when she was in the same room or suite. Enjoyed it.
