really poor narration a killer for me. have like others in this series with Guidall narrating so assuming the issue is the quality of narration rather than the story.

story enjoyable and narration well done. shame about the silly conceit of interspersed recipes - really annoying. I would like to read more by this author but i won't buy until i can be sure i won't be subjected to this silliness again.

Historia
After 9/11, the United States made one of the most secretive and dangerous deals in its history. The evidence against the powerful Saudis who coordinated the attack would be buried. In return, King Faisal would promise to keep the oil flowing and deal with the conspirators in his midst. When the king's own nephew is discovered funding ISIS, the president suspects that the Saudis never intended to live up to their agreement.

Narrator so overly dramatic - truly grating. It may have been salvaged with George narrating but perhaps not even he could pull it together. Tese books have lost their complexity and cleverness and seem to just be 'shoot em ups' now.

hugely disappointing
Revisado: 01-22-20
ive been working through these books and enjoying the complex plots until this one. the narration is diabolically bad which has probably made this seem worse that the book possibly is but the constant repetition and the overly drawn out relationship element caused me to fast forward so many times.

Same character, same story, different country
Revisado: 11-11-18
while I was engaged I was also very aware of the formulaic nature: obvious human failures of hero who comes good on difficult case in a foreign country, sex industry & murder, solves mystery despite home & foreign country attempts to brush over things, back to mire of depression & self loathing.
Will the next one be different? not sure I could get through 9 in the same ilk!
