Historia
The oldest of the children drafted from humanity's devastated planet, Joe is impressed into service by the alien Congressional Ground Force - and becomes the unwitting centerpiece in a millennia-long alien struggle for independence. Once his training begins, one of the elusive and prophetic Trith appears to give Joe a spine chilling prophecy that the universe has been anticipating for millions of years: Joe will be the one to finally shatter the vast alien government known as Congress. And the Trith cannot lie...but first Joe has to make it through bootcamp.

Great story but why the blaring chimes???
Revisado: 08-31-24
I absolutely love this story. It is an interesting exploration of adolescence in a sci-fi world. The author crafts an interesting universe filled with fascinating races, lore, and landscapes.
The only part of the audio book that is absolutely ridiculous is that for some godawful and inexplicable reason the chapter section breaks are announces with a blaring eardrum shattering chime that is roughly 10x louder than the narrator. Even now, blood trickles from my damaged lobes and I live in fear that this claxon call will find me in my moments of peace and signal the coming of the four horsemen which would be a blessed relief from the impending random chimes. That is the only reason I rated the performance as a 2-star.
Seriously, do not listen to this while driving if you have any type of perking startle reflex. I also don't recommend this as a dozing off to bed listen. The chime is absolutely ridiculous. @Audible please, please, for the love of all that is sacred, edit this audio book and remove that chime.
Other than that, this is a fantastic story. Enjoy.

Welcome Homeless is about becoming fully human by being fully present. It is about finally connecting with the disconnected and finding our identity through knowing the true identities of others. Graham wants to engrain the human story in you so deeply that you start being who you were made to be - that you start finally being like the image from which you were made and start empathizing instead of sympathizing with the people around you.

I just completed listening to What's Wrong with You? when I went directly into this book. They were perfect complements. The first book discussed the impact of trauma on our physiology and its ongoing impact upon our personalities and decisions. This book highlights numerous examples of how trauma and a catastrophic loss of family led many unto homelessness. The beautiful thing about this book is the compassionate approach to building community and home for those who are without.
