Historia
First Contact has not been going well. The nations of Earth are rapidly militarizing against the arrival of the Superorganism, an alien civilization that promises to destroy humanity before it can develop into a real threat. The Superorganism has done it before–to their distant transient relatives–and they could easily do it again. But the alien Ampersand and his human interpreter Cora Sabino are done with trying to save humanity from both the Superorganism and itself; to them, this is a civilization that does not deserve to be saved.

Always amazing from FC Yee.
Revisado: 07-30-22
I really liked this book and the performance of it by nancy wu. I fell in love with the Kyoshi books about a year ago and coming to this one my expectations were pretty high and almost all them were hit and some exceeded.
(Spoilers past this point!) I didn’t like how much a lot of yangchens childhood was skipped and how we didn’t get a ton her talking with her past lives, like with kyoshi and aang, until she said she had with the old woman. It felt like a lot of yangchens character was brushed over were as kyoshi was fleshed out to the max.
Either way. It’s a FC yee work and I’m so happy to see we’re getting more stories of past avatars.

Historia
Xiomara Batista feels unheard and unable to hide in her Harlem neighborhood. Ever since her body grew into curves, she has learned to let her fists and her fierceness do the talking. But Xiomara has plenty she wants to say, and she pours all her frustration and passion onto the pages of a leather notebook, reciting the words to herself like prayers - especially after she catches feelings for a boy in her bio class named Aman, whom her family can never know about.

Truly one of the best books I’ve read to date
Revisado: 12-04-21
I love this book with all my heart. There are not a ton of books that have the effect that this book has. It pulls you in and helps you (and sometimes forces you) to understand Xiomara. Her joys and love, as well as her pain and hurt. It strips you from your own body and makes you wear hers for 3 and hours straight. I’m not gonna lie, It was hard at times and amazing at others. But it did the thing that very few books do and made me feel like the character on the page, it made me forget who I am and made me only know X.
