Historia
Distinguished philosopher Hilary Putnam, who is also a practicing Jew, questions the thought of three major Jewish philosophers of the 20th century - Franz Rosenzweig, Martin Buber, and Emmanuel Levinas -- to help him reconcile the philosophical and religious sides of his life. An additional presence in the book is Ludwig Wittgenstein, who, although not a practicing Jew, thought about religion in ways that Putnam juxtaposes to the views of Rosenzweig, Buber, and Levinas.

It would be great if the narrator would look into the correct pronunciation of the philosophers' names. It is extremely distracting to hear their names mispronounced -- and worse, to hear them mispronounced inconsistently.

Historia
Come inside a jury room as one juror leads a starkly divided room to consensus. Join a young CIA officer as he recruits a reluctant foreign agent. And sit with an accomplished surgeon as he tries, and fails, to convince yet another cancer patient to opt for the less risky course of treatment. In Supercommunicators, Charles Duhigg blends deep research and his trademark storytelling skills to show how we can all learn to identify and leverage the hidden layers that lurk beneath every conversation.

Started out good
Revisado: 11-24-24
At the beginning, I was excited about this book. The insights were interesting and useful -- especially the role that sharing feelings plays in communication. But when the book launched into an extended fawning exhibition of Netflix's culture, it all went sour. Hearing about the endless self-indulgent identity-mongering going on at Netflix burned up all my patience, and I just couldn't stand listening to another minute of it. Haven't we had enough of this narcissistic ideology? I returned the book and got my credit back.

Amoral, cunning, ruthless, and instructive, this piercing work distills 3,000 years of the history of power into 48 well-explicated laws. This bold volume outlines the laws of power in their unvarnished essence, synthesizing the philosophies of Machiavelli, Sun Tzu, Carl von Clausewitz, and other infamous strategists. The 48 Laws of Power will fascinate any listener interested in gaining, observing, or defending against ultimate control.

Richard Poe is a genius

I cannot imagine this book read by any other reader. I can't even assess this book's content apart from Richard Poe's delivery. As far as I'm concerned, the original book as published is just a transcription of this audiobook.

Get the printed book, too
Revisado: 01-23-17
This book is incredibly valuable for grasping the executive's perspective on customer experience. I would definitely recommend this book to experience designers who sometimes don't have access or insights into how their work might be viewed at the upper levels of their organizations.
Note on the performace: This has to be the single toughest audiobook reading project ever. The reason is that the book has a fairly complex structure -- more like a magazine or textbook -- with sidebars, lists, and regularly occurring sections. The reader had to convey this structure mainly with timing. Once you catch on to the structure, the book makes sense, but it might take a chapter or two. It might be helpful to get the printed book, too, so you can see what's going on in the reading.
