Historia
In Rocks, Joe Perry exposes his unrepentant, unbridled life as the lead guitarist of Aerosmith. He delves deep into his volatile, profound, and enduring relationship with singer Steve Tyler and reveals the real people behind the larger-than-life rock gods onstage. The nearly five-decade saga of Aerosmith is epic, at once a study in brotherhood and solitude that plays out on the killing fields of rock and roll.

Stunning Book.
Revisado: 06-05-21
I have read this book now 3 times all the way through and it truly gets better every single time I read it. I am on the other side of abuse that happened when I was 15 (as of writing this, I am 17 years old) and Joe Perry is the reason I am still here. There was actually a time at the beginning of my junior year where I woke up with overwhelming suicidal thoughts and the first thing I did was listen to Joe’s music and it immediately put me in a better headspace. It was so hard hearing about his abuse stories with Elyssa, Steven, managers, and drugs, because we think of figures like him as these almighty beings who can withstand anything. However, despite these traumas, he made himself extremely vulnerable throughout this heart wrenching story, and I admire that so much not only as a fan but as a fellow survivor of abuse. It is not easy to go through let alone talk about, so I’m incredibly proud of him for coming forward about all of it in this book. This book puts you in every single scene, which is a blessing and a curse at the same time. Joe, I’m not sure if you’re reading this, but if you are, and if you’re out there somewhere reading this, thank you from the bottom of my heart for saving my life, helping me survive abuse, helping me conquer bullying in middle school, being a musical inspiration, and being the reason I continue to live my life to the fullest despite my struggles with anxiety and ADHD. You mean more to me than anything else that preexists on this planet and I love you from the bottom of my heart.

Historia
On the road with The Joe Perry Project in the big '80s. The untold story is unveiled in amazing detail. Captivating, riotously funny, frighteningly frank, exhilarating, and at times deeply moving. The audiobook includes everything from the original “diary” plus bonus untold stories and a whole new final chapter. With added commentary from radio personality and author, Carter Alan. And surprise visits from Joe Perry Project members Danny Hargrove and Charlie Farren.

Incredible Book!
Revisado: 10-07-20
You know, going into this book, I didn’t know what to expect. I was originally not a huge fan of Once a Rocker as an album because I was such a fan of Ralph and Charlie’s work. It took me a lot longer to get into as it was so different from the first 2 project records. Moreover, I still read this book with high expectations from what I had heard from other project fans, and I was not disappointed. This book puts you right in each scene with the Project. Earthquake does a great job setting up each scene and Cowboy does an amazing job narrating. His voice is nowhere near boring and it was so nice listening to the audiobook having already read the book once. Hearing Cowboy’s voice brought new life to the book and it has made the reading experience a lot better considering that I’m a pretty slow reader as it is. Because of this book, I found a whole new respect for Once a Rocker as an album and it is now easily my favorite of the 3 project records. I couldn’t put this book down and now I can’t stop listening to Once a Rocker. I highly recommend any Project fan, Aerosmith fan, Joe Perry fan, or rock and roll fan in general to read this book. It is absolutely worth your time.
