Bayou kids become heros!
Revisado: 01-04-25
An interesting look at the Battle of New Orleans through the eyes of three Cajun teens coming of age in a time of war. The character development made what could have been dry history much more exciting. Through his narration, Mr. Larsen attempts to bring even more life to the story. The author makes use of colloquialisms and paints imaginative word pictures to move the story along.

Historia
Midwife Patience Murphy has a gift: a talent for escorting mothers through the challenges of bringing children into the world. Working in the hardscrabble conditions of Appalachia during the Depression, Patience takes the jobs that no one else wants, helping those most in need - and least likely to pay. She knows a successful midwifery practice must be built on a foundation of openness and trust - but the secrets Patience is keeping are far too intimate and fragile for her to ever let anyone in.

Enjoyed even more the second time.
Revisado: 01-09-24
Certainly there was much conjecture in this story, yet it's history was painstakingly researched, and was aided by the nearly 20,000 letters which Jefferson penned in his lifetime. I liked their practice of interspersing these letters to move the story along.
Ms. Campbell's narration was masterful and perfectly depicted the grace and tempo of the time period.
