Historia
A powerful, blazingly honest memoir: the story of an 1100-mile solo hike that broke down a young woman reeling from catastrophe and built her back up again. At 22, Cheryl Strayed thought she had lost everything. After her mother's death, her family scattered and her own marriage was destroyed. Four years later, with nothing more to lose, she decided to hike the Pacific Crest Trail from the Mojave Desert through California and Oregon to Washington State - alone. She had no experience as a long-distance hiker, and the trail was little more than an idea: vague, outlandish, and full of promise.

Loved it!
Revisado: 09-17-12
Would you consider the audio edition of World Without End to be better than the print version?
John Lee is amazing! He does all the accents without fail. I don't normally read or listen to this sort of book but Ken Follet just has such a gift for story telling. I now feel as if I have so much insight into WW1 and the people who lived in that time. He made it come alive.I will read everything else he's written now, especially read by John Lee.
Which scene was your favorite?
I loved the story about the Russian brothers
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
I didn't want it to end.

Revisado: 05-08-12
Who was your favorite character and why?
Sarah was my favourite character, perhaps as she was the main one.
What about Emma Fielding’s performance did you like?
She had the accent down pat. She was engaging and interesting to listen to.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
yes. but I didn't like the ending
Any additional comments?
Loved listening to this book, especially as it was about the early days of the Hawkesbury river and beyond. The ending was disjointed from the rest of the book though.

Historia
Freedom comically and tragically captures the temptations and burdens of too much liberty: the thrills of teenage lust, the shaken compromises of middle age, the wages of suburban sprawl, the heavy weight of empire. In charting the mistakes and joys of Freedom's intensely realized characters, as they struggle to learn how to live in an ever more confusing world, Franzen has produced an indelible and deeply moving portrait of our time.

didn't want it to finish
Revisado: 12-18-10
Johnathan Franzen managers to dig deep into the souls of the characters who are, on the surface, just ordinary folk. Like us all there are deep angers, fears and love which he slowly teases out and examines.
