My standard issued lab badge reads "Simon", but it really should say "unexciting nerd with no social life". Don't get me wrong - I love what I do with a passion, but it doesn't leave a lot of time for much else. Especially romance. While chipping away at my work, I'm suddenly the person between hired cartel muscle and the fossil that will define my career. Which isn't the most insane part of the story. My savior is a chaotic, bat-wielding punk with a bubble-gum pink mohawk and a killer smile.

Dinosaur Shifters!
Revisado: 07-26-23
"My mohawked savior. . ." - Simon
Simon lives a simple life hunched over ancient dinosaur bones in the basement of a museum. His happy place until in a bizarre twist of fate the cartel seems to want the artifact he is working on! To top it off the one who saves him, and his prized dinosaur artifact is a handsome man with a pink mohawk?!
Simon gets roped into an emergency road trip that is beyond anything he could have imagined. Dalton helps to bring out the fun in life while simultaneously avoiding some very dangerous men. Simon is questioning his life and his s*xuality as they embark across country. Dalton taking the most scenic route possible and hitting all the tourist traps! Did anyone hear the sound of a real dinosaur?
"Simon. Pretty Simon." - Dalton
Four words! Kirt Graves AND Dinosaur Shifters! Okay, maybe I can't count but I mean that's all the information you need, right?!
Simon reminded me of Ross from "Friends", only the BETTER version. Simon absolutely adores his work, and his life revolves around dinosaurs, I do not see the problem here. But when it comes to the dating scene many a date does not want to listen to in depth details about dig sites and dinosaur finds. Leaving Simon to go back to his basement office, his safe place but one that feels lonely at times.
Everything changes when an eventful night leads to him breaking rules he never thought he would! The straight and narrow isn't always what it's cracked up to be anyways. His savior does not fit the typical knight in shining armor bill at all but when the cartel is involved you go with it! Dalton sports a bubblegum pink mohawk, studs, and leather never mind the baseball bat. The two embark on a cross country road trip that may or may not define their futures.
I was laughing so much with this audiobook! Kirt Graves has become one of my favorite voice actors and I think it would be amazing to meet him one day! I had listened to another one of Maz Maddox's books and just fell in love with their writing style. The amount of comedy and just the banter between the main characters is phenomenal! I WILL be continuing this series!
I loved the road trip aspect and how Dalton doesn't care that the places he wants to visit are tourist traps. He knows they are but enjoys them anyways, helping to broaden Simon's world even if one of the places triggers Simon in a comical way. When the two bonded over real dinosaur information I was grinning like an idiot. Never settle for someone who isn't willing to at least sit down and listen to you info dump about your favorite thing! And if they vibe with you and even add to the conversation just marry them.
Though this book is very lighthearted and comically focused, there's some darker elements. Mention of the cartel and some of the things they do or have done. Language is a prominent thing along with violence and bloodshed. We have a hungry dinosaur shifter who needs to eat on the go. Depictions of hunting and eating animals of prey. No real gory details or anything. One scene of someone getting a piercing, a brief scene of an interrogation, and mention of torture techniques.
There was talk of evolution and some science stuff, which I enjoyed. I also liked listening about past events and things one of the MMCs had lived through. Enjoyed the chemistry building between the two MCs as they navigated through feelings. Dual POVs to help really see into what they were actually thinking. Simon having a bit of a s*xual awakening as he got closer to Dalton. I mean they are in close proximity to one another, and some places only had one bed. . . We do get a very yummy and intimate MM action scene!
The book does end with an HEA for the main couple! The next book is about another member of the group Dalton works with. AGH! Another dinosaur shifter I am so excited! Plus, Kirt narrates the whole series which is another plus! The author did such an amazing job and I love all the details/research that went into this book. True dinosaurs being mentioned, facts about them, and depictions of them!
Enjoy the comedy with a dinosaur shifter and a nerdy scientist! Don't forget to give the author some stars!

Historia
Trained to handle even the fiercest undead, Dallas Wilde took out a powerful necromancer without breaking a sweat. Okay, that's a lie—there was tons of sweat, but he was victorious all the same. Unfortunately, killing a necromancer comes with some repercussions. Broody, annoying, vampire repercussions and new abilities to resurrect the dead. Can Dallas navigate his blood-sucking bodyguard, new powers, feelings for his attractive client and still handle his contract in time to pay his very, very late rent—all while trying not to get super murdered in the process?

A Vampire Hunter x Manservant (Bodyguard) Vampire!
Revisado: 05-19-23
"I have a vampire servant." - Dallas
"Body. Guard." - Zane
Dallas Wilde is a professional contract killer and fish trainer who would also sell his own grandmother for cash. But one contract job ends up turning into a giant headache with baggage in the form of a grumpy Thrall! A little bit of an oops has Dallas suffering some consequences he should have known better about and avoided.
But maybe having a Thrall isn't so bad as Dallas ventures forth on his next contract, he can't sit around and not make money. Especially when his landlord is sweet enough in reminding him his rent is very late. Only as Dallas and the Thrall follow the trail of clues in search of a Jinn, they find more and more shady business dealings. Necromancy and more intricacies into the profession and craft are surfacing. Dallas just wanted a simple big pay out, but this contract is proving difficult.
"I've never been in a harem to a goddess before. Does she know I'm very gay?" - Dallas
"Every time you speak, I get a migraine." - Zane
This audiobook had me laughing out loud! Of course, at work it gets a little complicated when people look at you a little curiously. I love that a reading buddy of mine introduced me to this audiobook and this author! Dallas is a new favorite of mine and Kirt helped to really bring his character to life. Along with the other cast of the book! The banter in this read was just phenomenal and I wish I could quote all of Dallas' lines. I just love him so much! I thoroughly enjoyed this author's writing style!
Dallas has been cruising through his life as a contract killer and fish trainer, yes, they really exist and it's a rather fascinating thing! Trying to make as much money as he can and avoid his past trauma and feelings. Only everything comes to a halt when his last contract didn't end with a simple clean slate. Dallas finds out just what happens when you don't properly go through all the steps of properly killing a Necromancer, mind you he is a professional. . .
Dallas HATES vampires and now he has one attached to him. Dallas of course looking on the bright side and instantly thinking "manservant"! The Thrall (Zane) NOT being happy with the word choice or meaning. The two don't get along and their banter made me laugh out loud so many times. Enemies for sure that have to put up with one another and are tied together. Neither being able to severe the connection. I also don't think Dallas wants to cut their unlikely bond though you could form a drinking game with how many times he threatens to stab Zane!
On top of everything Dallas discovers he has some gnarly new powers. He doesn't want them at all just like he doesn't want to admit to his feelings toward a certain client. Dallas would rather lock everything away and mosey through life and contracts. Also, maybe getting his rent paid on time. . .
I loved the mystery in this book and the search for the Jinn. Discovering new clues along with making some head way with relationships. Dallas also digging into the underbelly of businessmen and the ugly dealings they try to hide. Paranormal crime solving with a lot of humor. Dallas is our only POV, and I fell in love with him and his internal monologue! I also love the take on vampires and how they come about and behave.
Read the TWs at the beginning of the book! Even though this book has a lot of comedy in it we deal with some heavy materials. There's language throughout the book, violence, bloodshed, and gore. Necromancy and magic relating to it is a main subject of the book. Descriptions of things and how Necromancers wield their powers. I loved the details and all the intricacies of it all! There's a vampire so expect blood receiving/taking. Usage of drugs and other recreational things.
Dallas has a high libido and isn't into relationships. You can tell something is forming along with high sexual tensions and physical responses to situations. I've heard rumors regarding a love triangle trope with this series, usually I don't go for the love triangle trope but with this book I absolutely LOVE all aspects of it. So even if it does turn out to be a love triangle I still want to continue. We do get MM action and some scenes with v*yeur*sm and public events.
Barnaby is a favorite character of mine and I want to attend one of his lectures! Maybe help around his store and be swept up in his knowledge of some unique art. The main contract arc for this book ends with a HEA in a way, but you can tell there's a larger picture being formed. Some questions and loose ends that still need to be tied up and I am very ready for the next book! I have some theories about some possible future situations.
Enjoy this book in whatever form you prefer! Don't forget to give the author some stars!

Home!
Revisado: 04-10-23
"The Game is almost upon Levena and I am filled with a giddiness that has nothing to do with my grandest scheme yet." - Thatch
Thatch's an immortal who enjoys coming to Levena when he isn't busy with other dimensional duties. Levena being a place he wishes he could call home but because of what he is he cannot. Making the most of his time he has created a Game, but shh no one knows he's the one behind it! Only this Game. . .this Game is going to be different, and the prize will be a wish granted!
Thatch doesn't know how special this week will really be until he crashes into the one person, he wishes would remember him the most! Arlo Rook. Never in all his years of living would Thatch have been able to predict the twists and turns the festival week is about to take. Being the last of your kind is harder than anyone can imagine and being what he is Thatch has to follow some painful rules. Is there such a thing as a happily ever after for Thatch Phantom?
"And maybe, just maybe, he'll remember me." - Thatch
I was able to read this book when it came out and then I heard an audiobook was being made. . ! Kirt Graves being the narrator for this amazing book! So of course, I had to snatch it up and I was NOT disappointed. I love how Kirt can go from an intimidating character to one who seems intimidate by everything. His voice was perfect for this read and helping to bring Arlo and Thatch to life! Honestly, want to listen to everything that Kirt narrates.
When I read this book, I was instantly bombarded with feelings of home. Then to be able to have this audiobook playing on a speaker as I just sat and listened was beyond phenomenal. I usually do not sit still when I am listening to an audiobook, but I was so engrossed in the story and the voice of the narrator. Home. A very calming and peaceful feeling as I listened to this book being read to me for the first time. Audiobooks are a way for me to enjoy a book all over again like I had never read it before.
Now, this book is not a fluffy and peaceful read. This book is about two broken souls who believe they don't deserve happiness or love. Thatch has a side effect, and this may be a spoiler, but people forget him. Remembering him as one would a blurry dream. . . Causing him to throw up walls around his heart and to keep his distance from people and things he wishes he could be closer to.
Arlo, I could relate to Arlo more than I would like to admit. The male witch has had to deal with a lot in his short years of living, some choices were not the best. Struggling with mental illness and trying to find his place in the world again. He's surrounded by a group of wonderful friends but sometimes he feels like a stranger amongst them. Arlo wants to find his purpose in life and how he wants to pursue his future.
The two literally crash into each other and neither are ready for what's about to transpire! I absolutely loved listening to this scene and how things started. The chemistry between the two is amazing and they are definitely idiots to lovers. Both trying to keep the other at a distance for various reasons but not succeeding in the least! Dual POVs help to really showcase how the two guarded individuals are really feeling.
I loved listening to the others in Arlo's Misfits group! The different personalities and how they all somehow meshed together! Showcasing different backgrounds, races, s*xualities, and so much more. I really want to know more about the character's and how they came about. Also, another one of my favorite characters would have to be Felix! There's a bit of an arc with him and the ending had me breaking down in tears of happiness! Kitt can also give me a tattoo any day of the week!
I really appreciated the take on immortality and some of the downsides of it, including a physical downside that's well written. This book does contain language, some violence, and past dealings with physical cruelty. The MCs both have a rough past that touches on some heavier material. Mention of mental health issues, attempted suicide, and scenes with panic attacks. The crew of mismatched characters like to enjoy recreational herbs and we get a closeup of getting a tattoo!
The romance is a slow burn! The two fools are trying to hold their grounds, but something keeps pulling them toward one another. We do get some yummy, passionate, and intimate scenes of MM action. I also really loved the romance between the two and how they got closer. Hurt/comfort is portrayed in this read.
I could go ON about this book! I want to pack my bags and leave for Levena ASAP! We do get a HEA but there are hints of more stories to come! This book includes so much, and I am completely hooked on Aelina Isaacs' work. If you get the eBook or the physical copy you'll be spoiled with a map, definitions of words, and a list of the different races you can find within Levena. Amazing world building presented in this read.
Do enjoy the fantasy whether you read it with your eyes or listen to it! Don't forget to give the author some stars!

Why Choose Time Travel Romance!
Revisado: 01-16-23
"Everyone knows men can't own women. . .since women are the makers of men."
Adrienne was on her path to nationals with her dance team, getting into college, and becoming an adult when things went very wrong in a short amount of time. After a series of events that lead to Adrienne having to jump into the sea, she doesn't think anything else could possibly get worse. Only it does when she surfaces and finds herself no longer in the modern age.
Somehow Adrienne has been thrown back in time into the Minoan Bronze Age! 1600 BCE with no antibiotics, caffeine or processed foods! To top everything off the people seem to believe she is the child of one of their goddesses. Adrienne has to quickly learn and navigate through her new time period so she can possibly get help to return to her own time. Is there even a way for her to time travel forward? How did she accomplish this jump in the first place?!
"I am going to die. Because this isn't some Disney movie, and I sure as s*** am not some warrior princess." - Adrienne
I was able to ARC read this book before it was released and fell in love with this series. The writing style, the authenticity of it all, the ability to fully submerge into the story, and so much more! Elisha Kemp really put in a lot of time and effort into this book to help keep you fully immersed in the time period. Historical accuracies but with artistic flares and creative licenses. The author even includes a little note about history at the beginning of the book!
When I got the audiobook, I was so excited to hear the characters I fell in love with brought to life! Macie Miller really caught on to the personality of Adrienne and helped to bring her voice to life. Adrienne's a bit spoiled and a little snobby not fully understanding things or life in general. I mean she just turned eighteen and hasn't been out on her own yet!
Getting thrown into the Bronze Age, surrounded by people and things she doesn't know helps to start her coming of age arc. What really solidified my love for this book was the fact that Adrienne didn't just instantly know everything or was suddenly perfect with weapons. She had to LEARN how to do it all, right down to learning the language. Macie really helped to capture Adrienne's hesitancy and stubbornness.
I forgot about Kitanetos (Kit) and his very inflated ego until I heard Marcus Rayne bring the deep voice to life. Because of course Kit would have the deep, masculine voice! I laughed out loud when I heard Kit's first chapter being read because he truly believes he's the gifted one. . . Kit believes Adrienne is a gift from the goddess and she's meant for him.
I loved the dynamics amongst the cast and just how Adrienne's assumed to be the spawn of a goddess. And within this time no one wished to anger the gods or goddesses. Adrienne's trying to not get too attached to things because she knows she will be going home soon, hopefully. But it's hard not to be drawn to the man who rescued her and another mysterious man that's so kind and sweet to her. Is she allowed to like more than one man?
My favorite character is Jadikira (Jadi), he's so sweet and sees something in Adrienne. Wanting nothing more than to comfort her and protect her. I'm so happy that Marcus saw the playfulness with Jadi's character and helped bring the voice to life with the humor. Jadi helps to keep things light and balances out some of the other MCs, even the voice of reason when the situation calls for it.
Just both narrators did a fantastic job switching from the multiple POVs and capturing the essence of the cast! I am very much looking forward to the next audiobook installment because I need more! This book does end on a cliffhanger that will have you wanting to jump into the next book. "Burn the Stars" is out already so you don't have to wait, but like this one it does end on a cliffhanger and the third book is set to release in April of this year! (2023)
Language is present in the book, there is some violence and bloodshed, anxiety and feelings of grief and homesickness. There are frustrations on both sides of the language barrier and humor that goes along with it as well. We do have a brief scene of attempted SA because of a man not taking no for an answer, but it's stopped! I really loved the contrast of the modern mentality and the Bronze Age mentality when it came to women.
This read is a slow burn! You will get frustrated by the teases and hints to things. I really enjoy why choose books, like this one, that the men or women (depending on the book) have different burn rates. Adrienne's still trying to figure out this life and what is acceptable in this society. We do get MM action between two of the other MCs in the read, and it was very good!
I could go ON about this book and series in general, but I don't want to give too much away! Do enjoy this time travel why choose romance set in the Minoan Bronze Age! Don't forget to give the author some stars!
Maybe if I fill a bath with some sea salt I could time travel back. . ?

A deadly game with secrets. . .
Revisado: 01-03-23
"A game is only a game if you do not fully understand it."
The holidays always bring about mixed feelings and emotions but tack on finally meeting your fiancés family and things get really worrisome! Harriet Reed, Harry, has left behind her home in England for that of her future husband's home in America. A whirlwind romance that has left everyone asking how, including Harry herself! She's just a lower-class orphan from England and yet she's caught the eye of a billionaire play-boy.
Harry's excited to meet her new family, along with the usual jitters of "will the family like her?", but she won't let that stop her. Yet, Edward seems rather hesitant about unleashing his very powerful and influential family, who like to play games, on Harry. He doesn't want to drive her away, there are truths being hidden and cautions that seem a little extreme. Edward doesn't know that Harry's hiding a secret of her own. . .
The Rules
1. Listen Carefully
2. Do Your Research
3. Trust No One
4. Run for Your Life
The prologue really piqued my interest as I dived into this audiobook! I am falling more in love with psychological thrillers and books with suspense. You know a scene from the present, but you need to understand the events leading up to the scene!
We've all had to deal with the dreaded event of meeting the parents/family! Not knowing if they will like you or not, hoping they don't tell the one you're interested in, to breakup with you, etc. But Harry has to handle a lot more since her love is from a wealthy family and she's beneath their status. The more she gets to know the individuals of the family the more she's drawn in. Wondering why Edward hadn't introduced her sooner to them.
Things begin to change as Harry attends American holiday traditions and some from the old country the Holbeck's have originated from. A tape is also placed into Harry's hands and a deadly game begins for her. She will soon be facing pasts and presents to determine how her future will look. The thriller writer may have unlocked her passion so she can write her next book, but how close to home will this narrative hit?
I loved the twists in this book and how I had some theories, but they were wrong! And looking back after completing the read I was exclaiming how I couldn't believe I had missed some clues! I was very happy that I couldn't fully predict the end or how the game would play out. I loved the hidden secrets and how things just unraveled. I loved Harry's character and being able to glimpse inside a thriller author's mind! How she used it to help aide her through the game she was playing.
With the Holbeck's you could tell they were very rich and privileged. Not taking no for an answer and getting what they wanted. I enjoyed the complexity of some of the cast and members of the family as you got to know them more throughout the read. I always find it interesting to read about the higher class and how they view things differently from us lower class civilians. Harry was amused with things as well but also irritated with other situations. She wasn't afraid to voice things when she didn't find things entertaining or funny.
I thoroughly enjoyed the fact that the author was also the narrator for the book! Catherine did an amazing job with the read through and bringing Harry to life! This is a single POV book with Harry being the one we understand things through. I liked the flow of how the author went through different accents pertaining to individual characters.
There's language in the book, some violence, acts of manipulation, and more. The family have unique ways of bringing to life some of the traditions and it may be disturbing to some. Nothing gory and stomach turning, just creepy. There are some descriptions of pasts and some of the secrets being brought into the light. MF action is in the book, but it is closed door/fade to black. We get the passion and understanding but no drawn-out scenes.
I thought the book ended very well and am excited to read more from this author! Some of her other audiobooks that are available are read by her as well! Just have to wait until I have funds to get more of her reads! I loved the twists and turns and just how I couldn't predict the end!
Enjoy this read as meeting the family brings about more anxiety! Don't forget to give the author some stars!

Joe's just trying to find his perfect love. . .
Revisado: 01-02-23
"If people could handle their self-loathing, customer service would be smoother." - Joe
Joe observes a lot at his job as a bookstore employee, people watching is a hobby of his. Analyzing individuals and getting to the heart of their emotions as they feel guilt for buying certain books. But when a special woman strolls into his store, he's utterly captivated by her. She even listens as he rants about books, authors, and people. She's the one! After seeing Beck's name on the credit card Joe does what any love-struck person would do. He Google searches her name. . .
Joe wants her, needs her, knows Beck was made for him, and he will get her. Though he must abide by the rules and not come on too strong otherwise she will run from him. He slowly begins to seep into Beck's world whether she's aware of it or not, social media is so accessible and easy to navigate. She will become his and he will ensure Beck never lets him go, because he's the only one for her. . .a perfect match!
"Your lips were made for mine, Beck. You are the reason I have a mouth, a heart." - Joe
I read a different book by an author who was inspired by "You" and since I loved the other book, I HAD to check this one out. I decided to go with the audiobook version so I could listen as I worked at my day job. The moment I heard Santino Fontana's voice and how he brought Joe to life I was hooked! The narrator PULLED me in, but the writing style had me completely submerged!
Personally, I love psychological thrillers with a stalker or even dark romances with a stalker. I love the psychology behind it all and how when we are in love, a healthy, non-toxic love, we become obsessed with one another. Wanting to know as much as possible about the other person! Their likes and dislikes, their schedule, where they like to go on off days, etc. There are even things we do in the name of love that third party on lookers would deem as insane or inappropriate.
Beck has dominated Joe's world and every fiber of his being since the moment he heard her say, "Hello." He cannot get her out of his mind, and he doesn't want to! Joe's extremely intelligent and I was caught up by this fact and how he knew how to approach things properly. He's a master at manipulation and isn't there a fine line between genius and insanity? Yes, Joe was my favorite character. . .and yes, I know I need therapy.
We get to see everything from Joe's POV and maybe that's why I preferred Joe over other characters within the read. Though don't get me wrong, the other cast of the book were excellent for different reasons! Also helping to add more understanding around people are not always what they seem to be. I really loved Joe's inner monologue and correctness as he analyzed others.
The writing had me chuckling out loud multiple times as I listened to the narration of Joe's character and his inner thoughts. In the back of your mind, you know you shouldn't like this man because he's dangerous, has anger issues, and is a stalker crossing so many boundaries. But I was drawn into the intricacy of his character.
"What a shame to be so angered by what you don't have that you treat what you do have like it's nothing."
I loved the twists within this read and how Beck's not the perfectly innocent woman she has everyone believing. We as humans are complex creatures and do and say things because of other factors that help to play a part in the equation for us and how we may act. I was just enthralled with this read and I found it very ironic that Stephen King was referenced within the pages and the author himself loved this book!
This book does contain language, violence, kidnapping, some blood, self-harm, and some other things that may be unsettling to some. Joe has a history and also has to act on some situations for the sake of love. The accessibility surrounding social media and how easy it is for someone to stalk you is rather intimidating but intriguing. With well written psychological books you are left questioning your morals and whose side you should be on. We are left on a cliffhanger because you know there has to be more to this story!
The read does contain some MF action, but no crazy drawn out scenes. There's passion and understandings of what happens or what a character wants to happen. A brief FF action scene that didn't go too far, you will just have to read to find out. Some self-gratification moments and some other little things.
I haven't watched the show yet, I don't know if I want too. Because I really loved the book and the writing and sometimes with shows and movies, they miss the essence that makes up the entirety of a book or series! Personal opinion and again I haven't watched any episodes yet, but I might because I am curious. I definitely want to continue listening to Santino bring Joe to life within the next audiobook installments!
Enjoy the thriller that will have you questioning yourself and don't forget to give the author some stars!

Historia
What would you do if you woke up to the question "where is your husband?" As you lay in a hospital bed, unsure of how you got there, would panic or denial hold you in that moment? And what if the people asking you that question repeatedly were government agents who should have no interest in your missing spouse? All of this is faced by Paige Hanson when she wakes up in a hospital after an accident she can't remember. Her husband, Leo, hasn't been seen since the night before, and try as she might, she can't remember their last conversation.

Absolutely loved! Mystery Thriller!
Revisado: 12-25-22
"Where is your husband?"
That question is on EVERYONE'S lips as poor Paige is hounded over and over! Why did the wife and child survive but the husband didn't? Where's the body? Is the wife hiding something? Why can't the wife remember? Question after question that Paige cannot answer, her memory not wanting to fully show her the entirety of the night leading up to the accident!
Paige wants nothing more than to hold her baby in her arms and try to carry on with her life. Not wanting to fully believe Leo is truly gone, but knowing she needs to move on for the sake of her son. Yet, several people will not let her work through her grief. They want answers Paige can't seem to give them and the ones who are demanding the hardest are part of the State/Government. . . Leo, what did you do?
I was able to ARC read the eBook form for S.M. Thomas, and I fell in love with the thriller! I was so excited when the author reached out again with the audiobook version! I had to dive right into it and listen as Sophie Linfield brought the voice of Paige Hanson to life! Audiobooks are still considered reading because we all process information differently and our attention span may differ from one another. Gasp! Does that mean we are individuals and unique?
Paige has a very sharp mind and a photographic memory but when it comes to the events leading up to the car crash her mind is struggling to put all the pieces together! Paige is beyond frustrated and you will soon follow suit as you listen to the flashbacks and each time a little extra is added but then abruptly cut off! Pieces slowly clicking into place, but the full story still being hidden. I growled several times because Paige is so close to remembering it all and then something stops the flow! Well, played Thomas, well played.
I loved how as the book goes on you realize the marriage between Leo and Paige wasn't all peaches and cream. There's more to the couples' dynamic and the backstory of their characters. The twists and how Paige's past also plays a large part in things. The sci-fi aspect of the book is that we are stationed on Earth Two, something having happened to Earth One. And because of such things there's new rules, regulations, and a government.
There are some triggering things with the new government and how they view situations. Namely how they are ensuring the human species survives. . . The believability of the politics and how people are seen and treated is scary. The author did a phenomenal job with crafting and constructing the world within the pages of the book. One of the big arcs in the book may be upsetting to some, I don't want to give anything away but there are some prejudices and phobias on the page.
I really loved having read the eBook form listening to the audiobook and picking up on some early foreshadowing. I still have many theories as to what happened and how it happened, some new theories have come about as well! But you will just have to read/listen to the book and see if you come up with some ideas of your own. Not everything is as it seems. . .
This book does contain heavy emotions of grief, having been with someone and suddenly they are no longer there. Expecting them to walk down the stairs or make you coffee and they don't. . . The little things that Paige experienced were heartbreaking. How do you move on from such an intimate loss? There's language in the book, violence, some medical things that are parallel to today's world, flashbacks, coping with alcohol, and so much more! The cliffhanger will get you and have you craving the next installment in the series!
The mystery and thriller aspect of the book is incredible, and you will be on the edge of your seat! Everything is from Paige's POV and she's trying to piece things together while also navigating through her new life. With all the questions and no answers to give fingers begin pointing and they aren't directed away from Paige. . .
Somethings not right and the explanations may be right in front of Paige's face. . . Enjoy the read and don't forget to give the author some stars!
