Historia
At the top of her career in the Christian music industry, Jennifer Knapp quit. A few years later, she publicly revealed she is gay. A media frenzy ensued, and many of her former fans were angry with what they saw as turning her back on God. But through it all, she held on to the truth that had guided her from the beginning. In this memoir, she finally tells her story: of her troubled childhood, the love of music that pulled her through, her dramatic conversion to Christianity, her rise to stardom, her abrupt departure from Christian contemporary music....

Refreshing!
Revisado: 10-06-24
I could empathize so much with Jennifer’s story. I had a very similar “religious” experience until I truly understood the love between of God. Brave and honest, I was very moved by her story.

Historia
When Judy Goldman’s husband of almost four decades has a routine spinal injection to alleviate back pain, he is instantly paralyzed from the waist down - a phenomenon no doctor can explain or undo. She’s forced to take over, navigating the byzantine medical world they suddenly find themselves in. Her husband is forced to give in. This is the starting point for Together, which looks at the changes every couple faces - the slow, ordinary ones brought about by time and the sudden, dramatic ones that take us by surprise.

Poignant revelations that are thought provoking and inspiring
Revisado: 09-15-23
What happened to this couple was truly a living nightmare but Judy’s courage in retelling the story brings a great deal of hope. Honest and endearing, anyone fortunate enough to be a loving long term marriage will be inspired by their story.

KL Randis is a true life hero. Her story will be difficult to forget. I love that she used her experience to affect change in a system that too often further victimizes victims, most disturbing of all-children.

Historia
Sam Hill always saw the world through different eyes. Born with red pupils, he was called “Devil Boy” or Sam “Hell” by his classmates; “God’s will” is what his mother called his ocular albinism. Her words were of little comfort, but Sam persevered. Sam believed it was God who sent Ernie Cantwell, the only African American kid in his class, to be the friend he so desperately needed. And that it was God’s idea for Mickie Kennedy to storm into Our Lady of Mercy like a tornado, uprooting every rule Sam had been taught about boys and girls. Forty years later, Sam, a small-town eye doctor, is no longer certain anything was by design.

Wonderful
Revisado: 09-18-18
You know that you’ve just finished reading a book that you will never forget when you are profoundly sad that it is over. From the very beginning, I was captivated by the characters and the overall theme of “life is hard, but doing the right thing is always the right thing.” I was incredibly moved by the relationships Sam had with his mom, his dad, Ernie and Mickie and the beautiful thread of love, faith, and acceptance that was woven throughout the poignant story. I had never read a book by this author before and I understand that this is a departure from his usual body of work, but I hope that he has more stories like this to tell.

Practical advice, honest, great narration
Revisado: 12-04-16
Great delivery of a topic that had caught my interest and I am just beginning to investigate. Coming from the perspective of a dedicated Christian, I prayed my way through it and became really concerned about the Buddhist references. As I stuck with it, I appreciated Dan's honesty, his skepticism, and his thoroughness. Ironically, as I was finishing the book, I decided that most of Dan's conclusions can be found in the Bible and parallel with the teachings of Jesus.

Many know Kimberly Williams-Paisley as the bride in the popular Steve Martin remakes of the Father of the Bride movies, the calculating Peggy Kenter on Nashville, or the wife of country megastar Brad Paisley. But in 2014, Williams-Paisley revealed a tragic secret: Her mother had been diagnosed with a rare form of dementia called primary progressive aphasia at the age of 61.

Beautiful tribute
Revisado: 11-08-16
I could relate to this story in so many ways. My own mom died over 20 years ago after suffering a brain injury. Kimberly's recounting of the way her family pulled together and her father's devotion was truly remarkable and sadly, not my experience. I appreciate her honestly, but most of all her insights and spiritual connections. Linda was stricken with a horrible disease, but was so fortunate to have such an amazing family who supported her and each other.

Historia
As a sixteen-year-old, Tessa Cartwright was found in a Texas field, barely alive amid a scattering of bones, with only fragments of memory as to how she got there. Ever since, the press has pursued her as the lone surviving “Black-Eyed Susan”, the nickname given to the murder victims because of the yellow carpet of wildflowers that flourished above their shared grave. Tessa’s testimony about those tragic hours put a man on death row.

In this spectacular saga as radiant, thrilling, and beguiling as Hollywood itself, Adriana Trigiani takes us back to Tinsel Town's golden age - an era as brutal as it was resplendent - and into the complex and glamorous world of a young actress hungry for fame and success. With meticulous, beautiful detail, Trigiani paints a rich, historical landscape of 1930s Los Angeles, where European and American artisans flocked to pursue the ultimate dream: to tell stories on the silver screen.

Disappointing
Revisado: 09-14-16
Having loved The Shoemaker's Wife and being a long time fan of Loretta Young, I bought this book just knowing I would love it. Unfortunately, I didn't. The narration was unconvincing, and I couldn't decide if the book was completely fictional or part autobiography. I found myself wanting to finish it, but I couldn't wait for it to be over.

Two cousins, Rory and Arden, lie unconscious in a hospital burn unit. The fire, which broke out in their shared college dorm room, killed another student, and the police want answers. Tension between Rory and Arden's parents was already at an all-time high before the fire, owing to a recent financial crisis and the decline of the family business. I always love when I read a book that I knew nothing about except for the publisher's description and it ends up to be an amazing story. If you are a fan of Jodi Picoult, you will find this book extremely satisfying. I've already put the other titles by this author on my wish list!
