I’ll give them all an A for effort, and it’s good to hear the voices of the actors again. But, the audiobook does have a shortcoming, and it’s the same shortcoming that occurred with the later years of the original show, as well as the revived TV series: they keep pressing the reset button over and over again. But hey, again, I had to give them an A for effort.

Palin does a great job with his descriptions and tells a fascinating story of his unusual trip around the world. My only complaint is a small one - the audiobook includes many small moments of background music that initially add to the feel of the story, but eventually become repetitive and a little tiring. But the rest of the storytelling more than makes up for it. I’m jealous of Palin that he was able to take a journey like this one. It reminded me of a friend who through-hiked a big part of the Appalachian trail. Having heard this audiobook, I plan to purchase the audiobook for Jules Verne’s original classic. Looking forward to it.

Great stories very talented voice actors! It doesn’t always hit the mark - my only complaint is that a few moments that were intended to enhance the stories (alien voices, sound effects, music) don’t quite pull it off, but most of these moments were done just fine.

Really well done overall. I even hope they do a sequel

The narration is excellent though mayb a couple of the accents seemed a bit overdone. The story was great - I liked the legal bargaining and maneuvering that went on. The only real downside was that a lot of chapters ended with music that seemed to be there to enhance the scene, but really was only a distraction. It was like watching a sitcom with a laugh track telling you what was funny.

Overall very good and worth the listen. Check it out!

If you were a fan of 1980s movies, music, or especially video games, you need to check this out. Cline does a fantastic job of including pop culture references and still having a workable plot. I might listen to this one again!

I watched a couple of episodes as a child, and finally read it as an adult. What I wouldn't give to capture the sense of wonder and humanity about that Sagan expresses in this book!

Interesting food for thought

Intriguing, detailed, and well thought out book about influences on the long term course of our history. But, don't expect it to be as immediately entertaining, attention-grabbing and catchy as the title "Guns, Germs and Steel."

I listened to it as an audiobook during my commute. It can get rather slow going just because that's just the nature of the material, but it's worth a listen. I purchased a "lighter" book on the same day as this one, and switched off between the two for a few weeks. Glad I did.
