Sex. Horror. Discomfort. In five stories and one poem, you'll find questions and answers, and you might learn something about yourself along the way. Something uncomfortable. Something dark. Come on in and join us. Lean back, open up, and let us take a look at that tickle. We're sure it's nothing serious. Just...something in your mouth.

A fun collection of short stories
Revisado: 05-07-21
Something in Your Mouth is a collection of five short horror/erotica stories and one poem. Each one is narrated by a different person, which added to the uniqueness of the audiobook.
Story number one, a Warm Cuppa, has an almost Lovecraftian feel too it. It kinda reminded me, oddly enough, of season five of Buffy. A man who just wants a good romp or two (or more) with a single mom learns just how magical attending her daughter's tea party can be.
Story number two, Znapper, is probably my favorite of them all. It's about a snapping turtle. But there's so much more to it than that. I won't spoil anything. Just...it's fantastic and I loved it.
Story number three, Cool to the Touch, is about a virus. And people changing. This one was kinda depressing.
Story number four, The Mother Tongue, is about vampirism and the Church. I didn't care for this one, but I'm not a huge fan of vampires. It was pretty interesting, though.
Story number five, Pictures for Pleasure, is my second favorite story. This one is absolutely ridiculous, and I laughed out loud so many times. Stella and her sister are amazing, and the warlock they go to see made me think of the Greek God Dionysus.
The poem that's included is short and leaves you curious and wanting more. It'd be cool to have that fleshed out into something horrifying.
I rather enjoyed this audiobook. The narration is done well. Each person brings something different to the table in terms of how they read the story. The voices were easily distinguishable and clear enough to understand without issue. My favorite voice was the narrator for the last story (Pictures for Pleasure).
Overall, if you're looking for some intriguing horror stories with some erotica thrown in, give Something in Your Mouth a whirl.
4 stars from me!

Historia
A collection of short stories that take place on different holidays over the course of the year. The collection opens with A New Year, a New Day, a New Life. Grant Curtis is arrested on New Year’s Day and charged with the murder of his wife Carla. In Easter: The Resurrection, a resurrected Kyle Gardner seeks vengeance on Pastor Brian. The Vengeance of Cassidy Clay is a narrative poem that takes place on Halloween. The poem tells the story of a slave-hunter who haunts the woods long after his death and many more spine chilling tales.

A decent holiday themed horror collection
Revisado: 08-11-20
The Feast and Other Horrifying Tales is a collection of short horror stories all involving a holiday. There's New Year's Day, Valentine's Day, Easter, Independence Day (July 4th), Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas.
The New Year's story has an almost Tell-Tale Heart vibe to it. A husband and wife go to a party, but the next day, the wife is found in a ditch and the husband is being questioned. He keeps hearing his wife's ringtone, even though her phone is nowhere in the house. The real question, though, is, does it drive him to the brink of madness?
Valentine's Day is a cliche story about a man with a crush on a woman way out of his league. Bad things happen. No spoilers.
Easter's story is called The Resurrection, and it had a Saw-like vibe to it (mostly because of the way the narrator brought this one to life). A preacher's sins from his past come back to haunt him.
The story for July 4th is set post 9/11, and it's about an overly patriotic American man with a foreign neighbor.
Halloween is more of a poem about a slave trader who haunts the woods where he committed his crimes.
Thanksgiving's story is the title story, The Feast, and I bet you can imagine what happens in that one.
And the Christmas story is more of a Dear Santa letter from an anonymous male confessing his sins to Jolly Saint Nick.
I thought this was a fun little collection of stories. I'm a sucker for holiday themed horror (hello, Hulu's Into the Dark anthology), so I knew I wanted to read (or listen, as it were) to this one.
I think my favorite story was the first one set during New Year's Day. Mostly because of the modern-day Poe vibe I got from it. Sure, it was pretty obvious, but it was fun. I enjoyed it.
I also like the Thanksgiving story, even though that one's a bit dark. As a parent, it was a little much at times, but I liked it.
The narration of the audio book is crisp and clean. The narrator's voice reminded me of someone you'd hear on the radio. Very mellow and soothing. But it also made me think of someone who could lull you into a false sense of security and then murder you in your sleep or something. I mean that in the very best way, of course.
I did borrow the companion ebook from Kindle Unlimited to follow along with, and I did notice the book had some grammatical errors and other small issues. In the Easter story, clue #4 shows up, and then another clue #4 happens before the preacher finds clue #5. Just a small mishap there.
Overall, though, I thought this was a decent collection of holiday themed horror. The narrator did a fantastic job, and he really brought the stories to life.
3.5 stars from me.

Raleigh Jackson is just a "regular girl" with a passion for romance novels and cheesy 90s music. Trystan Lay is a genuine schmillioniare, and the worlds most perfect human (according to NASA). Never in the history of the universe have opposites been known to attract...until now! Created by an audiobook narrator and musical improv comedy performer, and an erotica ghostwriter, and performed by comedians from Upright Citizens Brigade and The Groundlings, it's the funniest, and only, multicast audiobook musical for adults!

Entertaning
Revisado: 11-27-19
My first thought when I finished listening to this audio book was, "Oh, my God! What did I just listen to?"
This book is absolutely bonkers. It's over the top. It's ridiculous. It makes fun of every trope and stereotype in romance novels. And I absolutely loved it.
The songs are creative and unique. The plot itself is beyond cliché and campy. This is definitely one entertaining audio book, that's for sure.
My favorite line in the book was probably, "He wears a condom 24/7 because he wants everyone around him to feel safe." Or something along those lines. I laughed so hard at that. I even told my husband, and he laughed and said it was actually pretty genius. Men, I tell ya.
If you're a fan of romances featuring shifters, billionaires, MMA fighters, "alpha" males, a silly/clumsy/innocent woman, a neglected friend, step-siblings, or anything else under the romance trope/stereotype umbrella, you'll find it here in Lustily Ever After.
The narration is crisp and clear and easy to understand. The songs are amusing and sung with gusto. There are definitely some talented people involved with this book.
I'm giving it 4 stars.

Unique Gothic horror
Revisado: 07-10-18
I received this audiobook as part of my participation in a blog tour with Audiobookworm Promotions. The tour is being sponsored by William Todd. The gifting of this audiobook did not affect my opinion of it.
Dead of Night is a collection of six short horror stories, all very Gothic or Victorian-eque, if you will. Each story has its own unique brand of horror, from a pact with the Devil to Jack the Ripper and more.
The stories are interesting, although I didn't find any of them to be too scary or spooky. But if you enjoy Gothic horror, then you'll definitely like these stories.
I've always had a fascination with Jack the Ripper for as long as I can remember, and I think the story titled Jack is my favorite. There's a bit of a twist with that one, and I rather liked the direction it went. I wasn't expecting that.
The narrator, Ben, does a good job bringing each story to life, and each character. He's easy to listen to, and whenever an accent is needed, he does it perfectly. Like in the first story, there's a man with a Scottish accent. Ben really brought that character to life. Plus, there were sound effects and bits of background "music" if you will that added in making the stories feel a bit creepier.
All in all, it's a good collection of stories, and I enjoyed listening to each one. I'd give Dead of Night 4 stars.

A spooky ghost story
Revisado: 05-21-18
**I received this audiobook at no-cost from Audiobookworm Promotions. The gifting of this audiobook did not affect my opinion of it.**
First Contact is a horror novel about a paranormal real estate agent named Sloane who is determined to make contact with her dead fiance. Unfortunately for her, when she goes to a supposed haunted house for sale in Wisconsin, she gets way more than she ever could have bargained for.
Now, I don't want to spoil anything, so I won't say anything else about what, exactly, happens. I will say that I did like Sloane, even though she was a bit...frustrating at times. I get her determination and desire to explore and discover all the secrets, but sometimes you gotta learn to take a step back and just wait. Wait for someone else so you don't get yourself into some crazy predicament, or killed by ghosts, or something.
In terms of other characters, I would have liked to have had Jonah fleshed out a little more. I liked him, but I wanted more from him. That would have been nice.
Story-wise, I really liked it. It was intense and flowed really well. It was paced nicely, not too quick and not too slow. It kept me intrigued and curious.
The narrator, Kate Tyler, did a really nice job with the story. She brought Sloane to life and made her seem like someone you might know in real life. She also did a good job with the other characters. The old man, Alvin, sounded like a...well, I won't spoil anything about his character, but he's not very likeable. I will say that. And Kate made him sound like someone you wanted to push down a hill into oncoming traffic.
It was definitely easy to follow along with the story, and which character was which. Kate gave them all their own voice, and it was nice to hear the variety and range. Some narrators make all of the characters sound very similar, but Kate made them all stand out in their own way.
I didn't notice anything strange or out of place with the story or the narration. It all flowed together nicely, and it kept me hooked. No weird or long pauses, no stuttering or stumbling, no reading too fast, etc.
Kat Green wrote a really spooky haunted house story, and Kate Tyler brought it to life. I felt like I could have been there with Sloane at times.
Overall, I quite liked the audio book version of First Contact, and I'd recommend it to fans of haunted house stories/ghost stories.

A cute story with good advice
Revisado: 01-30-18
Where does Dairy Free and Happy! rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
This is really the first actual audiobook I've ever listened to. I don't normally listen to audiobooks, as I prefer paperbacks or reading on my Kindle, but since it was a short children's book, I figured I'd give it a whirl. It wasn't bad. The narration was easy to understand, although it did seem a bit slow, like there were pauses between pages or something along those lines.
Would you be willing to try another book from Michelle Diana Lowe? Why or why not?
I suppose I might be willing to try another book. The story started off cute, with fun fruit and veggie characters introducing themselves. I liked it for what it was, so I'd read another book by the author, sure.
What about Sarah McNamara’s performance did you like?
I did enjoy it. The narrator sounded a little like Emma Watson, and I've always been fond of accents, so listening to her read the story was enjoyable.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
It didn't really make me laugh or cry, as it's a children's book that offers advice on how to deal with food allergies. It's not really emotional, just helpful.
Any additional comments?
I enjoyed the book. Thanks to Audiobookworm Promotions for the chance to read and review.
