Historia
Artemis had one of the most widespread cults in the Greek world, perhaps due to her connection to nature, which can be a ubiquitous antagonist or boon-giver. Her association with nature may also explain why she was one of the oldest deities in the Greek pantheon, although her appearance in the Mycenaean Linear B script (the earliest form of Greek that has been deciphered, dating to as early as 1450 BCE) is still contested.

Historia
Political violence rips apart several towns in southwest Texas. A far-right militia plots to kidnap the governor of Michigan and try her for treason. An armed mob of Trump supporters and conspiracy theorists storms the U.S. Capitol. Are these isolated incidents? Or is this the start of something bigger? Barbara F. Walter has spent her career studying civil conflict in places like Iraq, Ukraine, and Sri Lanka, but now she has become increasingly worried about her own country.

Scary and relevant

Scared the hell out of me, because as I read about what is needed to fix it seemed blocked. I was on one hand, wanting to get involved in teaching civics, on the other hand looking at emigrantion.

Historia
Emi Vargas, whose parents helped save the world, is tired of being told how lucky she is to have been born after the climate crisis. But following the public assassination of a dozen climate criminals, Emi’s mother, Kristina, disappears as a possible suspect, and Emi’s illusions of utopia are shattered. A determined Emi and her father, Larch, journey from their home in Nuuk, Greenland to New York City, now a lightly populated storm-surge outpost built from the ruins of the former metropolis. But they aren’t the only ones looking for Kristina.

Smart and Deep
Revisado: 08-28-23
This book is rich and deep. We see a real, believable post climate change world and we have believable characters, a husband and wife who have taken very different paths in essentially a post war (or is it?) world, and a plot built on the tension between those worlds.

Historia
More than 200 million years ago, geological forces split apart the continents. Isolated from each other, the two halves of the world developed radically different suites of plants and animals. When Christopher Columbus set foot in the Americas, he ended that separation at a stroke. Driven by the economic goal of establishing trade with China, he accidentally set off an ecological convulsion as European vessels carried thousands of species to new homes across the oceans.

Chapters
Revisado: 01-30-23
The chapters of the book did not match the audio text. It was very hard to find convenient stopping places. All chapter cut offs were seemingly random, with one paragraph going on in the next chapter on the same chapter. could have been done better.

Merry
Revisado: 09-12-22
Katherine Kitty is the merryist Mary Sue and that is what makes her glorious! She spends the book surrounded and being hit on by hot Alien Men and killing ugly Aliens and solving problems that have stymied the Sexy Aliens for 20+ years over a couple days.
Not for the uptight, straitlaced, nincompoops but if you're not that it's pretty enjoyable.

Then Big Jim's eyeball falls out of his head, and S.T. starts to think something isn't quite right. Even the slobbering affection of Big Jim's loyal but dim-witted dog, Dennis, fails to cure Big Jim's debilitating malady. Getting a life isn't always easy. And hanging on to it is even harder.... Jodi Taylor brings all her comic writing skills to this heartwarming tale of self-discovery. Known as The Nothing Girl because of her severe stutter and chronically low self-confidence, Jenny Dove is only just prevented from ending it all by the sudden appearance of Thomas, a mystical golden horse only she can see. Not Fantasy (mostly)
Revisado: 07-10-22
Enjoyed. But bought this because the Audible algorithm put this in the fantasy section and while there is a slight fantasy element, it is mostly a coming of age story with attempted murder.

Historia
I’m a selkie, trapped above the waves until I can recover my skin. Humans used to call us seal-wives many years ago - before they broke the planet. I thought that fewer humans, after the warming, would mean less danger. My kind believed our world was finally recovering. We were wrong. Up here, the magic is fading and Old Ones like me are being traded as trophies for rich and powerful humans to display in collections. Without the Old Ones, the magic fades; without magic, the planet dies. Humankind has gone too far, and someone has to put a stop to it.

Original, great setting. Some things were too drawn out and it would be better a little shorter. Characters were good but not great.
