Historia
Recruited into the fundamentalist Quiverfull movement as a young wife, Tia Levings learned that being a good Christian meant following a list of additional life principles—a series of secret, special rules to obey. Being a godly and submissive wife in Christian Patriarchy included strict discipline, isolation, and an alternative lifestyle that appeared wholesome to outsiders. Women were to be silent, “keepers of the home.” A Well-Trained Wife is an unforgettable memoir about a woman's race to save herself and her family and details the ways that extreme views can manifest in a marriage.

Historia
Leigh Collier has worked hard to build what looks like a normal life. She has a good job as a defense attorney, a daughter doing well in school, and even her divorce is relatively civilized - her life is just as unremarkable as she’d always hoped it would be. But Leigh’s ordinary life masks a childhood that was far from average...a childhood tarnished by secrets, broken by betrayal, and finally torn apart by a devastating act of violence.

Love Karen Slaughter!
She is an excellent blend of story teller and character developer. She really knows how to give her characters personalities that grip you. I find myself wanting to be friends with many of her main characters. Also this book in particular portays the many sides of an addict in a beautiful way. Thank you for letting us fall in love with the beautiful addicted soul Caliop. Can't wait for your next book & thanks again for keeping it real & not sugar coating your writing to keep it PG- guess what Fuckers life isn't PG!

Historia
In the Name of the Children gives an unflinching look at what it's like to fight a never-ending battle against an enemy far more insidious than terrorists: the predators, lurking amongst us, who seek to harm our children. During his 30-year career with the FBI, Jeff Rinek worked hundreds of investigations involving crimes against children: from stranger abduction to serial homicide to ritualized sexual abuse. Those who do this kind of work are required to plumb the depths of human depravity, to see things no one should ever have to see - and once seen can never forget.

Gruesome but also tender and Heartfelt
Revisado: 09-03-20
The narrator was really good, he captured the emotions in the book perfectly. Not overly cheesy but just enough to keep you in the moments.
The story hops about abit but all interesting content. If you are bothered by graphic explanations of crimes it might not be for you. I personally like the fact that he didn't sugar coat the stories. I sincerely hope that he and his family are living a happy life now.

love Jack Olsen but too many characters!
Revisado: 07-21-20
this was a hard story to tell but it was well told the only problem is there are so many families and we really didn't get to know the victims like we do in his other books because there was just so many. just a sad sad story. didn't like that we really didn't get to know the killer either.

Very in Depth and interesting!
Revisado: 07-16-20
some may find this book to be long and drawn-out but I found that because it looks at the killer and his victims through the lens of so many different characters it makes it very interesting. a great True Crime book not just a glossing over of what has been in the media. I especially like the psychological testing and medical testing explained at the end. I think we should learn from these people to prevent further Horrors from happening.
