It seems like the perfect job. Great wages, accommodation provided and all located within the walls of Highwood Hall, a stunning stately home owned by the Howard family. Not many little girls dream of becoming a maid, but this is an opportunity for me to get back on my feet. And for me to revisit my past....

Historia
In Amanda Skenandore's provocative and profoundly moving debut, set in the tragic intersection between white and Native American culture, a young girl learns about friendship, betrayal, and the sacrifices made in the name of belonging. Told in compelling narratives that alternate between Alma's childhood and her present life, Between Earth and Sky is a haunting and complex story of love and loss, as a quest for justice becomes a journey toward understanding and, ultimately, atonement.

Just ok
Revisado: 09-20-21
I finished the book and it was an ok story overall. Moved a little slowly and just not my kind of book. I didn’t like the narrator in a few of the voices she didn’t particularly in regards to the character with the stroke and the same character who is excited. Was disappointed with the ending and some of the story choices.

Very much worth it.
Revisado: 08-16-21
When this book was first released I was so excited to read/listen to author Kristin Hannah’s newest release. Having read and been a big fan of her previous books I was excited for this book. However, between work, family, life it was months before I was able to invest the time and start the book. By that time there ample reviews out and I read through many of the positive and negative reviews to get a feel for the book. I was surprised to see and read the negative reviews and ultimately held off on getting this book. Well that was a big mistake; holding off on getting this book. It’s a wonderful story, full of rich details and character development. Elsa will live on for years to come. This is a book I could listen to again. The narration is spot on. The story is great. Loved the book.

Historia
I’ve been in this life for fifty years, been trying to work out its riddle for forty-two, and been keeping diaries of clues to that riddle for the last thirty-five. Notes about successes and failures, joys and sorrows, things that made me marvel, and things that made me laugh out loud. How to be fair. How to have less stress. How to have fun. How to hurt people less. How to get hurt less. How to be a good man. How to have meaning in life. How to be more me. Recently, I worked up the courage to sit down with those diaries.

Revisado: 06-18-21
Matthew is a natural entertainer; his voice, his intonation, his accents, his movies, his writing speak to his abilities. I love that we get to see the human side, the humanity, of Matthew. He IS bigger than life and I think he has to be to be the person you see; however he's also just a real, regular, dude who doesn't seem to be too full of himself. Anyway, great takeaways and awesome funny stories. Just a great book and I highly recommend you don't read any more reviews and just purchase it already!

So it wasn't amazing and it wasn't bad; just kinda somewhere in the middle. I would have loved to see more follow up at the end. Entertaining yes. Short and a bit of a thriller yes. It was free and I finished it.

Liked the performance overall. This is more like radio theater than an audio book. The performances were great. Story line just ok. I called the real perp early on; or at least had my suspicions. It was short and entertaining. And free. Can’t complain about that!

Had a hard time getting into the book but once in it was entertaining. Had a hard time with this narrator whose voice drove me a little nuts with her pronunciation. Wasn’t a knockout awesome book but it was good enough. Give it a try.
