Historia
In the span of four months in 2012, Tig Notaro was hospitalized for a debilitating intestinal disease called C. diff, her mother unexpectedly died, she went through a breakup, and then she was diagnosed with bilateral breast cancer. Hit with this devastating barrage, Tig took her grief onstage. Days after receiving her cancer diagnosis, she broke new comedic ground, opening an unvarnished set with the words, "Good evening. Hello. I have cancer. How are you? Hi, how are you? Is everybody having a good time? I have cancer."

Tig’s insights and witty delivery make her just a lovely person
Revisado: 01-18-18
Obscure LOL moment: when young Tig told her friend, “my father has a mustache!” When that assertion failed to elicit a response: “perhaps she didn’t hear me.” I love One Mississippi and I loved learning more about Tig’s struggle and triumph. Bravo!

Historia
Call Me by Your Name first swept across the world in 2007. It is the story of a sudden and powerful romance that blossoms between an adolescent boy and a summer guest at his parents' cliffside mansion on the Italian Riviera. During the restless summer weeks, unrelenting but buried currents of obsession, fascination, and desire intensify their passion as they test the charged ground between them and verge toward the one thing both already fear they may never truly find again: total intimacy.

Sexy and tender
Revisado: 01-03-18
The reading by Armie Hammer is excellent. I was expecting a love story, and didn’t realize how erotic it would be. It was tastefully done and had much more substance than mere erotica. It’s a beautiful story about two men whose lives intersect for a short time but they remain in each other’s hearts and minds forever.

Historia
Jeannette Walls grew up with parents whose ideals and stubborn nonconformity were both their curse and their salvation. Rex and Rose Mary Walls had four children. In the beginning, they lived like nomads, moving among Southwest desert towns, camping in the mountains. Rex was a charismatic, brilliant man who, when sober, captured his children's imagination. Rose Mary painted and wrote and couldn't stand the responsibility of providing for her family; she called herself an "excitement addict."

Heartbreaking and heartwarming
Revisado: 12-18-17
If you could sum up The Glass Castle in three words, what would they be?
Triumphant, resillient, self-depracating
Who was your favorite character and why?
Jeannette, because she’s a fighter
What does Jeannette Walls bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Her accent gives the story a sense of place, and the fact that she’s telling her own story instead of reading someone else’s makes it more intimate.
Any additional comments?
Ms. Walls spoke at the university where I work and she was just a delight. Her attitude about claiming the past that has shaped her is uniquely refreshing.

Historia
In 2009, Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band performed at the Super Bowl's halftime show. The experience was so exhilarating that Bruce decided to write about it. That's how this extraordinary autobiography began. Over the past seven years, Bruce Springsteen has privately devoted himself to writing the story of his life, bringing to this audio the same honesty, humor, and originality found in his songs.

We always knew The Boss could write!
Revisado: 06-20-17
I started reading Born to Run when the hardcover was released and then switched to the audio book. I loved hearing Bruce tell his own story, just like he does on stage. It was interesting to hear about his childhood and his early work, and enlightening to learn about his family relationships and own struggles. He was honest, revealing, poignant, and funny. Born to Run didn't disappoint this fan!
