Historia
Roy Glenister and Dextry are gold miners who strike it rich in Nome, Alaska until their claim is “jumped", seemingly by legal means and by powerful politicians, crooked lawyers, and a judge. The political establishment seems too powerful to fight. How can they get their claim (and money) back from a mafia-like organization in frontier Alaska? Roy is an honest man driven by frustration, despair, and disappointment, and loves to do things he never thought he would. How can he fight an organization that has the law in its pocket? There is “law” and then there is “frontier law.”

Historia
Shocking and controversial when it was first published in 1939, Steinbeck's Pulitzer prize-winning epic The Grapes of Wrath remains his undisputed masterpiece. Set against the background of Dust Bowl Oklahoma and Californian migrant life, it tells of Tom Joad and his family, who, like thousands of others, are forced to travel west in search of the promised land. Their story is one of false hopes, thwarted desires, and broken dreams, yet out of their suffering Steinbeck created a drama that is intensely human, yet majestic in its scale and moral vision.

A Real Classic
Revisado: 11-24-24
There’s a lotta novels that are touted as being “classic” but don’t really live up to the hype…”The Grapes of Wrath” is definitely worth the hype.
The writing style & story remind me a great deal of another favorite author of mine, Upton Sinclair. Both authors are amazing storytellers.
The ending of this book is a bit odd, but that doesn’t take anything away from the novel as a whole😎

Meanwhile, President Lincoln’s beloved eleven-year-old son, Willie, lies upstairs in the White House, gravely ill. In a matter of days, despite predictions of a recovery, Willie dies and is laid to rest in a Georgetown cemetery. “My poor boy, he was too good for this earth,” the president says at the time. “God has called him home.”

I’m sorry, but I like a novel/story that has a clear beginning, middle, and end. This is nothing but babbling nonsense.

Historia
In February 1990, Oregon State Police arrested John Sosnovke and Laverne Pavlinac for the vicious rape and murder of Taunja Bennet. Pavlinac had come forth and confessed, implicating her boyfriend and producing physical evidence that linked them to the crime. Authorities closed the case. There was just one problem. They had the wrong people. And the real killer wasn't about to let anyone take credit for his kill.

Truly Disturbing
Revisado: 02-20-24
I’m definitely a fan of this genre, but this was unlike any biography I’ve ever listened to. I like to listen to these stories to remind myself that there are monsters living in our world disguised as men. The content is downright disturbing, but at the same time compelling.
This audiobook doesn’t glorify Keith Jesperson or what he did and it gives a lotta insight into the mind of a killer. It was sometimes hard to listen to the atrocities Jesperson committed, but I feel like novels like this are necessary to better understand the world we live in.

Really appreciated this
Revisado: 10-29-23
Wasn’t exactly sure what to expect, but this was pretty great. Britney’s very candid about her life and explains a lot of her behavior over the years. It brings a lot of perspective to her perceived actions by the way she’s been portrayed in the media and her true actions in reality. Great audiobook😎

Revisado: 10-18-23
I’m a huge fan of 1990s film and worked in a theater for about six years in my late teens and early twenties. This audiobook captures that era of my life perfectly and gives a lot of insight into my favorite films of 1999.
Well worth the time and Audible credit and the narrator is perfect😎

Historia
The Sound and the Fury is the tragedy of the Compson family, featuring some of the most memorable characters in literature: beautiful, rebellious Caddy; the manchild Benjy; haunted, neurotic Quentin; Jason, the brutal cynic; and Dilsey, their black servant. Their lives fragmented and harrowed by history and legacy, the character’s voices and actions mesh to create what is arguably Faulkner’s masterpiece and one of the greatest novels of the twentieth century.

This is garbage
Revisado: 06-16-23
Grover Gardner does a great job reading the words but this “novel” has no story. Stories have a beginning, a middle, and an end. This has none of those. It’s just the rambling nonsense of a racist.
I know it’s racist because it’s fiction and the author chose to write the N-word multiple times through multiple chapters (if you wanna call them chapters) and there’s absolutely no context to how or why he’s using the word. Also, he finds ways to incorporate racist phrases in addition to the use of the N-word without there being any reason for it.
