Historia
Today is the perfect day to die. Bernard is the type of man that accomplishes all that he sets out to - and easily. He's intelligent, hardworking, and completely unfamiliar with failure. His only complaint - the singular source of the inner anger bubbling within him - is that no one else in the world recognizes that. It's time to force them to. Bernard's had enough. Enough of the complete absence of respect in his life, of being looked down upon, of being the only person in the world - it seems - who truly sees the reality of his life and what he deserves acknowledgment for.

Good read
Revisado: 11-19-20
The ending may or may not be predictable, but I thoroughly enjoyed this somewhat different short story. I wouldn’t normally enjoy an individual like this but Justine’s way with words and clear storytelling talent makes it an enjoyable listen. I wasn’t the biggest fan of the narrator, he could be a touch monotone at times, but it was still great.

Susan is the epitome of the happy housewife, contentedly conducting her daily ritual of cleaning her home and keeping everything just as it should be. Wrapped up in her own little world within those familiar walls, she hardly notices the altogether different arrival in her own back yard. She may ignore the sudden shaking beneath her slippered feet, she might even neglect to spot the conspicuous sight itself - but she can't evade the stench. Something's wrong. Very wrong.

Nothing quite like it
Revisado: 11-19-20
There’s nothing quite like this book, honestly. It’s definitely unexpected, what lands in Susan’s backyard, and something I would have never predicted. Love the narrator, she really gave feeling to the book, despite the strange content.

Not everything is as it appears
Revisado: 11-19-20
Not everything is as it appears in this short story. There were a few things about the story that didn’t make sense (like why did she wear a white dress? why’d she leave her sweater in the trunk?) but it kept my attention from start to finish, with plenty of unexpected surprises. Once again, Justine Avery doesn’t disappoint!

Historia
It's impossible but it's on-screen. He's captured - on camera - the scene of his own death. One weekday to the next, Trevor quietly fulfills his roles as loving husband and father-to-be, trusted best friend, and dependable employee. He's chosen normality, routine, simplicity, even predictability: everything he never had as a child. And he prefers it that way. And then comes Saturday. The weekends are Trevor's alone. On the weekends, Trevor is king.

Quite a twist
Revisado: 11-06-20
This was a great, relatively quick, easy listen, with a great storyline to boot. Justine has a way with words that some might find a bit... wordy... but for me it adds to the experience. The story kept you interested and definitely ended in a way you wouldn’t expect. Worth it.

Historia
Today is a day like any other on Earth. People wake and work. Minds plug into electronic devices. Social networks spark with spontaneous brain sputterings. And news anchors across the globe offer an ounce of vital information for every pound of mind-numbing nonsense.... Then, the figurative bomb hits. Screens are ablaze, and radio is abuzz with a news flash like no other: Earth has been inherited. The planet has a new owner. And he's not happy to find his endowment overrun by a planetary pestilence.

Historia
Bradley Michaels is just another man ending just another workday at just another job. He can list the usual complaints, can point his finger at the usual causes, and he can go about his routine as if one day is absolutely no different from the next. Until God himself just shows up uninvited and shakes up Bradley's entire existence by flaunting his own. It's not fair, but Bradley never claimed life is. And he tries to handle the new, omniscient presence in his head with calm attention and cool collectedness.

Interesting interpretation
Revisado: 11-06-20
Love Justine’s way of writing, it’s so down to earth and easy to listen to. This was such an interesting perspective on what it’d be like to meet God as an average Joe, and I appreciated the humor and witty banter. No hoity-toity stuff here!

Great short little book about inclusion in the form of cute little trolls. They just want to be the same as everyone else! The narrator’s voice is so nice to listen to, and I love the little music playing in the background.

The spellbinding style and alluring rhythm of Justine Avery's writing are brought to life by Liuba Syrotiuk’s dreamlike watercolor illustrations to inspire children and adults to set aside the day’s excitement and drift into the adventure of sleep itself. What Wonders Do You See...When You Dream? encourages calm and creativity, relaxation and imagination, and welcomes young and old alike to the blissful, magical time of bedtime.

This was so sweet and calming, I loved it! Love the background music going on, and the narrator’s smooth voice complemented it. This would definitely be nice to relieve some stress, it has an almost meditative quality to it.

What a great listen!
Revisado: 09-28-20
I always enjoy Justine’s books, but this audiobook brought it to another level. The narration was perfect. Just enough emotion, perfect pauses in narration, great speed, nothing contrived or fake-sounding. The book itself is a nice, short read, great for killing some time on a commute home, and the story itself is something I’m sure most can partly relate to. The main character is relatable, personable, witty, describes her emotions so well I feel like I’m seeing right into a real person’s mind. Loved it!

This book is so different and interesting
Revisado: 06-16-20
I really enjoyed this book in print, but also enjoyed it just as thoroughly come alive in someone's voice. The reader had a lot of personality and made it fun, although it did make me laugh how he imitated Sancha and her mom. This story is so incredibly unique and definitely makes me think and wonder about my own existence. Sometimes it can be a little much to think about, and is a little deeper than I'd like, but it was still so good to read and so interesting.
