Religious agenda ruined this for me
Revisado: 01-31-23
Like other reviewers, I was really turned off by the proselytizing, moral justifying and Bible thumping in this story. Why? It adds nothing and instead detracts from a somewhat entertaining (though predictable) story. I won't be reading other titles by this author.

Computer voice narration not for me
Revisado: 10-15-21
The story is great, but I have had a hard time listening to this narration. Was it intentionally done with a computer voice cadence? I recommend listening to the sample before you purchase. It's very distracting.

Historia
As dusk approaches a small Dublin suburb in the summer of 1984, mothers begin to call their children home. But on this warm evening, three children do not return from the dark and silent woods. When the police arrive, they find only one of the children gripping a tree trunk in terror, wearing blood-filled sneakers, and unable to recall a single detail of the previous hours. Twenty years later, the found boy, Rob Ryan, is a detective on the Dublin Murder Squad and keeps his past a secret.

Unfulfilling
Revisado: 01-28-18
This is a fairly predictable crime story combined with a depressing love story and underlaid by a second crime story with an unfulfilling ending. Nevertheless, the book is well written and inspite of the shortcomings listed above, the three storylines intertwined nicely in the main characters. I liked it well enough throughout, but hated the ending.

Not my cup of tea
Revisado: 08-10-15
For me this book was somewhere between science fiction and a mystery thriller but I could never quite figure out which one it was trying to be. I struggled to get through it, and became easily distracted while listening to it, particularly toward the end. The narration is fine - the story line just didn't hold my interest. I don't plan to read the next book in the series and I think that's pretty telling.

Just not a well written book.
Revisado: 08-10-15
The series is exciting, but it is just not well written and is incredibly far fetched. This is clearly pop science fiction. It is somewhat entertaining, but a far cry from a literary masterpiece.
