are people deaf?
Revisado: 05-02-14
Would you listen to Natchez Burning again? Why?
Yes, it is a very compelling, complex novel. I'm thoroughly enjoying it. Not finished yet.
Who was your favorite character and why?
not sure yet
What about David Ledoux’s performance did you like?
I am enjoying the book with his narration. I have heard much more theatrics and over-the-top voices. David Ledoux'x is simply normal, even very good.
Any additional comments?
Yes, Dick Hill is wonderful but I really do not understand the negative comments. Not everyone is Dick Hill but how about Scott Brick? He is not a wilting violet and plays his characters to the hilt. I am enjoying this book as well as the narration. Branch out people, new blood is good!

WHAT??????????????????????
Revisado: 07-31-13
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
NO. Because it is unfinished.
What could Michael Connelly have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
Perhaps he could have written an ending. It was like I had 5 minutes to get out of the hotel and could only take one suitcase. Did Connelly only have 5 minutes to write the ending? I spent all day listening, anticipating and of all the many endings I (not a writer) came up with could not have seen this one coming-and not in a good way. There was so much material to work with and he just.....what? threw it away? Had to go to the john? Late for dinner? Lost the last chapter? I'm just a bit peeved obviously. I used to love MC's work but stopped listening for a while because Bosch had become tiresome but I like Mickey Haller and thought this was one I would enjoy. Which I did until the end and I did a "what ????? just happened?"
I do not usually write reviews but could not wait to write this after reading the very frustrating end to this book.
Do you think The Reversal needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?
I think it needs an ending.
Any additional comments?
Think I have said it all.

Mickey Haller has fallen on tough times. He expands his business into foreclosure defense, only to see one of his clients accused of killing the banker she blames for trying to take away her home. As always Michael Connelly provided me with a days entertainment while doing mundane chores. I'm glad to see Haller back because honestly getting tired of Bosch who to me has lost his edge. I would have given it 5 stars but guessed the outcome early on in the book. Still enjoyable and worth the credit.

What is the term for worse than awful? I had high hopes for this book given the reviews. The plot was inspired but the execution was just plain bad. By the end of the book I wanted to kill them all off!

Endearing and flawed herione
Revisado: 12-21-10
Almost didn't get this book because of the reviews but very glad I did. The subtopic of child molestation can be a slippery slope for any author. I think Mr. Iles did a good job, thoughtful and empathetic. As a child abuse survivor I was drawn to the book. What I got was a good suspense story along with some comfort from the heroine who mirrored some of my own behaviors and thoughts. This may not be the book for everyone and as one reviewer stated it may "turn your stomach" to hear the details. The reality is that many, many children are abused every day by their fathers, uncles, brothers or mothers. They frequently feel alone and helpless. I know this is not a forum for my special cause but would like to say keep your minds and eyes open.
I read every day mostly suspense/mysteries and actually do know the gendre so don't miss a really good read because of the "unpleasant" content.

Beautifully written
Revisado: 11-09-10
I usually do not listen to sci/fi except the occasional Charlaine Harris and stick to the strictly whodunits BUT.....absolutely loved this book. It is not checkered throughout with profanity and porno sex scenes as was inferred by another reviewer. There is actually very little along those lines. The homosexual liason was without much detail to offend anyone (except the most extreme homophobe). The mystic flavor is not determined to be reality, it could be just a dream or delusions. Whatever it is, I enjoyed the entire book (it is very long) and found myself not wanting to finish. And could George Guidall be any better? Hoping for a sequel.

It's been a long time since criminal defence attorney David Cavanaugh has heard his childhood friend Chris Kincaid speak of Marilyn Maloney; for hers is a name from the past, from a time when David, Chris, and the third in the gang of three, Mike, vowed never to let a girl get in the way of their friendship. But now Chris is the "successful, happily married US Senator for New Jersey", and when he pleads with David to return home to help him locate the girl he "used" to love, David reluctantly agrees..

Redundant to the inth degree. I have enjoyed this authors books in the past but this one...........???? The content of this novel could have filled 2-3 chapters instead of dragging us painfully through hours and hours and hours of dribble. I'm close to the end now but honestly don't think I care enough to finish.

Revisado: 11-01-09
especially from an author I have enjoyed in the past. What happened? It is so poorly plotted and the characters not as described. I would think that Mace really would have been a gritty, hardened police officer turned con. THAT character would have been interesting. Wish I had read Roberts review before purchase.

This is my 5th book by Thomas Perry and I am only into the first few chapters. I haved enjoyed each thoroughly starting with the Jane Whitfield mysteries. He is now one of my favorite authors along with Michael Connolly. They are like pistachio ice cream and chocolate fudge cake-I love both but cannot choose between. Each one satisfies a craving at a particular time of desire.
