Nonprofit leadership is hard. Most new nonprofit leaders are ill-prepared for the challenges they will face, and even those who are more experienced struggle to ensure their organizations deliver the change they are committed to.

Good, easy read, with engaging and insightful stories of personal experiences and lessons learned. A great overview of key differences between non-profit and for-profit leadership. Provides a great structure for thinking about these common challenges all NGOs face, even for those that have already made the transition!

Historia
Barcelona, 1945: Just after the war, a great world city lies in shadow, nursing its wounds, and a boy named Daniel awakes on his 11th birthday to find that he can no longer remember his mother's face. To console his only child, Daniel's widowed father, an antiquarian book dealer, initiates him into the secret of the Cemetery of Forgotten Books, a library tended by Barcelona's guild of rare-book dealers as a repository for books forgotten by the world, waiting for someone who will care about them again.

The Music Is SO Irritating!
Revisado: 02-14-20
This is a fabulous book. The reader is a bit melodramatic at times, but it suits the story, which draws you in!
The one thing I hated was the music. It’s so loud and annoying, drowning out the beginning and end of each chapter. It doesn’t add anything to the book/story and makes it really hard to hear. Plus it’s weird soap opera type music, so really bad and irritating.

Pointless Drivel
Revisado: 05-23-18
Don't waste your time or money. This book spends 3-4 hours saying virtually nothing. What is does say is patently obvious (spend time with your child) and trite. Wasted a credit.

Historia
One hundred thousand years ago, at least six human species inhabited the Earth. Today there is just one. Us. Homo sapiens. How did our species succeed in the battle for dominance? Why did our foraging ancestors come together to create cities and kingdoms? How did we come to believe in gods, nations, and human rights; to trust money, books, and laws; and to be enslaved by bureaucracy, timetables, and consumerism?

Must read!
Revisado: 05-13-17
One of those multi-disciplinary books that pulls from everything you've learned in world history, biology, philosophy, political science and human psychology, spinning a cohesive narrative about human-kind's evolution from ape to modern man. Filled with dozens of "ah-ha" moments where the mental jigsaw puzzle pieces slip into place. This SHOULD be part of every college (high-school!?) curriculum.
