Historia
Amber wakes up in a hospital. She can't move. She can't speak. She can't open her eyes. She can hear everyone around her, but they have no idea. Amber doesn't remember what happened, but she has a suspicion her husband had something to do with it. Alternating between her paralyzed present, the week before her accident, and a series of childhood diaries from 20 years ago, this brilliant psychological thriller asks: Is something really a lie if you believe it's the truth?

Trainwreck
Revisado: 07-11-20
A story told jumping back and forth from 4 time points and two characters (I think). The time point is clear but who is talking is not. After ending the book I have no idea what happened. A convoluted story between two girls/women that had potential. I like stories that jump around but I don’t know if the voice for the characters wasn’t different enough but I just couldn’t figure out who was talking and who was telling the actual store, who was crazy... too confusing.

Confusing
Revisado: 07-11-20
It’s a good idea and we’ll executed throughout. A bit of a weak ending in my opinion. I don’t want to give it away but there’s a twist at the end that left a bad taste in my mouth so to speak. Ok overall.

Historia
As a sixteen-year-old, Tessa Cartwright was found in a Texas field, barely alive amid a scattering of bones, with only fragments of memory as to how she got there. Ever since, the press has pursued her as the lone surviving “Black-Eyed Susan”, the nickname given to the murder victims because of the yellow carpet of wildflowers that flourished above their shared grave. Tessa’s testimony about those tragic hours put a man on death row.

Very slow and abrupt ending.
Revisado: 03-04-16
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
If the story had been better distributed throughout the length of the book instead of drilling on irrelevant details and delivering all the thrilling part at the end. I was tempted to quit several times.
Would you ever listen to anything by Julia Heaberlin again?
Not likely
Have you listened to any of the narrators’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
Haven't heard the narrator before, but I would listen to another book narrated by her.
You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
The story itself is good, it is just poorly told.

Historia
Rose Howard has OCD, Asperger's syndrome, and an obsession with homonyms (even her name is a homonym). She gave her dog Rain a name with two homonyms (Reign, Rein), which, according to Rose's rules of homonyms, is very special. Rain was a lost dog Rose's father brought home. Rose and Rain are practically inseparable. And they are often home alone, as Rose's father spends most evenings at a bar, and doesn't have much patience for his special-needs daughter.

What would have made Rain Reign better?
I really can't think of anything because I couldn't get past the first few chapters.
Has Rain Reign turned you off from other books in this genre?
yes
What about Laura Hamilton’s performance did you like?
how she could make a child's voice.

Couldn't stand.

Good story but slow like molasses
Revisado: 03-04-16
Would you try another book from Kate Morton and/or Caroline Lee?
No
How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?
I would make it more linear, less jumping around in time. Also, not building up tension to just break it up without resolving and jumping to another time and character.
Have you listened to any of Caroline Lee’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
No.
Do you think The Lake House needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?
No
Any additional comments?
The idea of the story was good but it was stretched out too much and it didn't flow well.

Revisado: 07-06-15
Would you try another book from E. L. James and/or Zachary Webber?
E.L. James, unlikely. Zachary Weber probably.
Which character – as performed by Zachary Webber – was your favorite?
Christian Grey. His voice for Grey was awesome, his voice for Ana not so much.
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
Definitely disappointment. A guy would never have that kind of self talk. It lacks depth, we learn nothing that we didn't assume from the first book. I will not purchase the follow ups.

Gin was born from a conifer shrub when medieval physicians boiled juniper berries with wine to treat stomach pain. The Drunken Botanist uncovers the surprising botanical history and fascinating science and chemistry of over 150 plants, flowers, trees, and fruits (and even a few fungi).

Suddenly, she's back - and she needs George's help. Ruthless men believe she stole some money…and they will do whatever it takes to get it back.

Can't get past the narration
Revisado: 04-19-15
What disappointed you about The Girl with a Clock for a Heart?
The narration. The voice is flat, no intention, no emotion, nothing.
What was most disappointing about Peter Swanson’s story?
I can't get into the story because the narration makes it so boring I have a hard time following the plot. I quit after the second chapter.
How did the narrator detract from the book?

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

LOVED it!
Revisado: 04-12-15
What did you love best about The Husband's Secret?
Liane Moriarty always delivers. It's not just the secret, which is unexpected, but what comes after. Loved the way she treated the issues that it unraveled.
Who was your favorite character and why?
It's so hard to choose... I think what I like best is the way Moriarty looks at one event through different people.
What does Caroline Lee bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
The Australian accent reminded me that the story was set in Austrialia, with the little details that make the setting of a story special and unique.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
The price of curiosity
Any additional comments?
Highly recommended.

It could have been so much more
Revisado: 04-04-15
What did you like best about Hero? What did you like least?
The concept, the idea was good. A gay super hero, with a super hero mother and a hero wanna be father. But the descriptions weren't detailed enough and the characters were not well developed
Has Hero turned you off from other books in this genre?
Yup.
Would you listen to another book narrated by Michael Urie?
I won't go looking for books he narrated but I won't avoid him either.
Could you see Hero being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?
Maybe. Maybe the visual aspect adds enough detail to make the story more complete.
