Nothing Shy About This Girl...
Revisado: 01-15-20
I was given a free review copy of the audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
In a hot sensuous developing love story, started by chance but strong enough to change the life of two people, we get to know the two main characters as they try to live their separate lives, knowing very little about each other, but pining for one another. Their chance will come when fate or destiny brings them together once more. Can a wife that doesn't appreciate her husband be enough of an obstacle to come in between these two desperate lovers? The tormented couple need to overcome many doubts and moral situations before it can come together in a fiery relationship that cannot be denied. A perfect sample of this genre, pleasantly written and narrated.

Historia
Imagine getting out of the bath and finding blood in four of your six rooms. That’s not the plot of a B-movie. That’s real life. There’s a reason you’re drawn to horror films, and they’re not as far-fetched as you thought. FBI data shows that four out of 10 homicides and six out of 10 rapes go unsolved, and this isn’t just down to shoddy police work or a failing system. Sometimes, there just is no rational explanation. Strange things happen every day, and many of them are never reported. But then, many of them don’t end in horror.

Let a Little Chill Run Hop Your Spine...
Revisado: 01-15-20
I was given a free review copy of the audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
This collection of short stories is less like a work of fiction, and more like the reporting of some real life happenings or tales that have become part of common folklore. These tales certainly make you realize that the world of the unknown is much more complex of what we might think. The stories of possession, the unexplainable, the gruesome, are all a vital and interesting part of this collection. The editorial quality of the book is excellent. I particularly like the fact that the author is not trying to convince the readers to believe in the phenomenons she describes, but states the fact as they happened and let you reach your own conclusion. The stories are very well narrated. If you are the apprehensive type, this audiobook might not be for you, but I didn't find any of the stories to be offensive or exceedingly scary.

A Sweet Second Chance Love Story
Revisado: 01-15-20
I was given a free review copy of the audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
There is always room in our busy life to listen to a sweet love story. This audiobook is such a love story. A young widowed father still grieving for his lost and much missed wife, has a second chance at love. The approach is somewhat tentative at first as both he and the vacationing next door girl that is running away from her own grief and disappointment, need time to sort out their emotions and feelings. The two little girls are as sweet as they can be and certainly instrumental in bringing the two lovers together. It is one of those happily ever after stories that will warm your heart. The narration is very well done and the writing smooth and pleasant.

While an ugly war with its neighbouring realm continues to rage, the insulated members of Ruritania’s upper class laugh and dance their way through their superficial lives. Some people, increasingly disillusioned by the pointless conflict, start to consider how the king might be persuaded - or forced - to end it. Meanwhile, an increasing number of items of great value are going missing from those attending these high society gatherings. At whom will the finger of suspicion point? Who can be trusted?

A Most Likable Gentleman Thief
Revisado: 01-13-20
I was given a free review copy of the audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
In a fantastical world full of intrigue and subterfuge, the gentleman thief Rudolph appears to be the most trustworthy of all the nobles. You cannot but like him and, at the same time feel sorry for Wilhelm, his faithful manservant, who tries his best to make an honest person of his wayward master. The storylines on all the books of this trilogy are all intriguing and will keep you guessing almost to the end. The writing is pleasant and the narration truly masterful. What's more, in each book, I found a pletora of secondary characters that made the stories so much more interesting and complex. Definitely a series you don't want to miss...

A Different Kind of Detective
Revisado: 01-10-20
I was given a free review copy of the audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review
Even though part of a series, this book is easily enough to follow even if you di not listen to the first audiobook. I didn't and was able to get into it pretty easily. The historical rendition of the period is very captivating and the main character Anna Blanc is an odd kind of detective, a little spoiled, a little naive, a little inexperienced but with a mind of her own. Her love life is in shambles and she tries to overcompensate with her passion for solving mysteries. Too bad if her willingness brings her and others around her on the brink of disaster way too often... The character is well defined, if not always likable. Maybe she is still finding her new role in a world that was alien to her until recently. I do like some of the other characters in the story, especially her off-again, on-again boyfriend. I feel a little sorry for him... he'll need to be very patient with Anna... The narration was superb and I enjoyed listening to this rendition.

One More Review that Has Disappeared...
Revisado: 11-19-19
I was given a free review copy of the audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
This seems to be a recurring problem of late. This is the third book that I reviewed and that has disappeared from the review list.
I'm not sure if I need to keep doing it again, but it is hard to remember exactly what I thought of the book when I first listened to.
I do remember the storyline and found it interesting, and I think that the narration was also pretty good. Not sure if I'll have time to get back to it, but if I do, I'll revise this review.

And This Is Another Review Which Is Not Showing
Revisado: 11-19-19
I was given a free review copy of the audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
This is the second audiobook I have already reviewed and posted (received confirmation that the review was received) but now it's not showing on the list. I have listened to this book more recently and remember more of the details. It is a pleasant enough story, but as I had stated before, I found it little credible that a complete stranger and a civilian at that, could be asked by a police detective to get involved in the solving of a murder. Loved Shadow the talking cat and smiled at the "flying" map. Cozy witchy mystery that will make you smile.

I Had Already Left a Review
Revisado: 11-19-19
I was given a free review copy of the audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
For some reason I just discovered that some of my previously posted reviews on audiobooks I have listened to, are not showing up. This was one of them. I do remember enjoying this book at the time but cannot really recall the particulars including the narration of the audiobook. I do remember that the storyline was interesting and kept my attention. If I have time and listen to the book again, I'll be able to give a better review.

Useful to Start from Volume 1 in the Series
Revisado: 11-19-19
I was given a free review copy of the audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
I must admit that I found it a little hard to understand what Kim did for a living and what her background was. I think that this book doesn't quite work as a standalone if you want to get to know the main characters well. I made the mistake of starting listening to the series from volume 2 and missed some insightful information. I will go back to listen to Volume 1 and see if that will fill some of the gaps. That said, the storyline is an interesting one, full of action, humorous, and entertaining. I liked the many characters that made their cameo appearance in this book, and enjoyed the perkiness of the main ones. I'm not sure how a guide tour gets involved in solving murder mysteries yet (that is one of the particulars that are not clear in this volume), but hopefully I'll be able to figure that out once I listen to the first volume.
The narration was pleasant and since there are so many characters with so many different accents, the effort of giving each individual his or her own voice, was a great one. Looking forward to listen to the first volume.

Wonderful Twist!
Revisado: 11-18-19
I was given a free review copy of the audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
This was definitely one of the more enjoyable versions of the Pride and Prejudice genre that this author has written. It all seems to fit into place with the characters getting what they deserve at the end, be that bad or good. The hard-to-like Caroline Bingley is even more despicable in this tale and a well-suited match for the conniving George Wickham. Since all's well that ends well, the forgone ending will prove to be as sweet as we have come to expect. In this tale, once more, Mary comes out as a better figure, more intelligent and insightful than the original one. I have a feeling that the author tries very hard to give Mary her just due. The storyline has enough action to keep you wanting to see what will happen next and I loved how all of the sisters plotted to let justice prevail.
The narration was very well done and gave life to all of the characters. A must listen to audiobook for the P&P fans.
