A Lasting Impression

It’s been a while since a book has left a lasting impression on me in the way that this one had. This book both cracked me and broke my heart. The story took a little to get rolling but once it did I was losing sleep trying to stay awake to listen. I HAD to know what happened next. I oftentimes had no idea what was going on, and neither did Gideon lol. This is definitely one of those books that I’ll have to reread physically.

Better than Hooked!

I loved the attraction between the two characters and the build-up of tension. It felt so natural and sexy. I greatly enjoyed this book.

Ruined Keenan and Sheldon’s characters for me

I didn’t find this story romantic. Just Keenan being a psycho and abuser for no valid reason, and Sheldon just taking this cheating abusive guy’s behavior because she loved him when they were teenagers. Kieran was messed up too but his childhood was beyond effed up and he could take some responsibility. Keenan just blames everyone.

Cozy read

I enjoyed the chemistry between the two main characters. It reminded me a bit of Gilmore Girls, the mom and cafe guy. Lots of quick quips between them.

Good stories

Things happened unrealistically fast in these books, but I’m not here for a slow burn so I didn’t mind. There was a continuation error from the end of book 2 to the beginning of book 3 that bothered me. But overall, I got what I wanted from these stories. Everything wrapped up nicely

I greatly enjoyed his story and narration

Having watched Chris’ YouTube videos first for fun, then out of necessity in preparation for living in Japan myself, he’s been an inspiration for me. As I listened to the beginning of his book, it was crazy how much I related to his first experiences in Japan as a teacher barely able to speak Japanese living in a countryside town.

Transition story

If you were expecting this to be all about Ryoka’s adventures, you’ll find that’s not the case. This is a story about side characters and not a lot of action, but I’m okay with that! With as big as the world is and all of the characters’ paths slowly intertwining, it takes time to set up all of their journeys! Given everything that happened in the last book, the events in this book are calm, transitioning characters into the next stage of the Wandering inn adventures.

This is my second time listening through the series. I’m noticing so many things I’d forgotten about, as so much happens throughout each book. The story is so interesting, and each book leaves you with countless questions, making you crave more.
