Historia
The year is 1941. Shortly after the United States declares war on Japan in response to Pearl Harbor, Japan’s Tripartite Treaty allies, Germany and Italy, declare war on America. The United States finds itself in a two-theater war. President Franklin Roosevelt sets as America’s first priority the defeat of Nazi Germany, electing to wage a more-or-less holding war in the Pacific. In the beginning, the only force opposing the Japanese onslaught in the Pacific is the U.S. Submarine Service.

Overall a Entertaining Listen
Revisado: 01-09-21
Very detailed attack descriptions. The Audio version was hampered by the belief that sound effects would enhance the story. Author was excellent while at Sea, but felt the need to "humanize" the war with "love" subplots. Not what I believe (my opinion of course) that individuals who read/listen to this genre of Submarine Adventure/History/Entertainment are looking for. Also, you would think that the boat was maned by 5 to 6 People. There is much more to a crew than the CO, XO one or two additional Officers and the COB. If you enjoy WWII Pacific Submarine novels, this novel is certainly worth a credit and your time.

A 21 Century Political dissertation set in 1870's
Revisado: 12-23-20
A 21 Century Political dissertation set in 1870's. Story line is a stretch, but obviously the story line is not the focus of the book, rather it's the Political dissertation. Performance was very good. I will give Book 2 a listen, before I decide whether I believe the Series is entertainment or Political dissertation.

Historia
Spector reassesses US and Japanese strategy and offers some provocative interpretations. He shows that the dual advance across the Pacific by MacArthur and Nimitz was less a product of strategic calculation and more a pragmatic solution to bureaucratic, doctrinal, and public relations problems facing the Army and Navy. He also argues that Japan made its fatal error not in the Midway campaign but in abandoning its offensive strategy after that defeat and allowing itself to be drawn into a war of attrition.

Great Listen. Have a Map of the Pacific handy.
Revisado: 12-05-20
Excellent Listen. Great Detail. Having a Map of the Pacific handy will certainly help give a better understanding of many of the challenges confronting both sides, particularly when it comes to logistics. If you are even remotely interested in the War in the Pacific, this is a must listen. I have probably completed 20+ books on the War in the Pacific, but to date this listen has been the most comprehensive. I am confident you will not be disappointed if you elect to listen to this book.

Historia
Antonio Mendez and his future wife, Jonna, were CIA operatives working to spy on Moscow in the late 1970s, at one of the most dangerous moments in the Cold War. Soviets kept files on all foreigners, studied their patterns, tapped their phones, and even planted listening devices within the US embassy. In short, intelligence work was effectively impossible. The Soviet threat loomed larger than ever. The Moscow Rules tells the story of the intelligence breakthroughs that turned the odds in America's favor.

Historia
Sink 'Em All was originally published in 1951 by Vice Admiral Charles A. Lockwood, the US Navy commander of the Pacific submarine fleet during World War II. Lockwood, in his leadership role, knew the skippers and crews of the submarines and retells their wartime successes and tragedies with an intimacy and realism often missing in second-hand accounts.

Once again, a common individual makes a difference
Revisado: 07-31-20
The book is 5 STARS on all three categories, Story, Performance and Overall. Intriguing individual, which Americans should be grateful to. The most notable point was that after her husband had been executed for passing information to us which was worth Billions of US dollars, we blew her off when she requested medical assistance from the U.S. We really know how show our appreciation. Still, a Great Listen. Learned a Lot.

Historia
It is 1780, and 17-year-old Alan Lewrie is a brash, rebellious young libertine. So much so that his callous father believes a bit of naval discipline will turn the boy around. Fresh aboard the tall-masted Ariadne, Midshipman Lewrie heads for the war-torn Americas, finding - rather unexpectedly - that he is a born sailor, equally at home with the randy pleasures of the port and the raging battles on the high seas. But in a hail of cannonballs comes a bawdy surprise.

Historia
At the time of the French Revolution, one of Britain's most skillful naval officers, Charles Saunders Hayden, is a young lieutenant, the son of an English father and a French mother. His abilities and his loyalty to the king of England are beyond dispute, yet his career seems doomed by his "mixed" heritage and lack of political connections. Consequently, Hayden is assigned to an aging frigate, the Themis, under the command of Captain Josiah Hart, a man known as "Faint Hart" throughout the service.

Revisado: 03-29-19
If you are a fan of Patrick O'Brian then you should give "Under Enemy Colors" a Listen! Russell seems to be cut from the same "Sailcloth" as O'Brian. While I have not run into anyone, so far, that can top Patrick Tull's Narration of the Aubrey Maturin Series, Simon Vance does an extremely credible performance in Under Enemy Colors. Just finished Under Enemy Colors and immediately purchased the next book in the series. I'm confident you won't be disappointed if you give a listen to Under Enemy Colors!!!

Historia
A behind-the-scenes operator at the CIA, Wallace was integral to the agency's secret war against China's national intelligence service, which infiltrates government offices, major businesses, and systems crucial to our security. Wallace had severely damaged China's Washington spy ring with a devastating ruse, a so-called "black swan", in which a deep-undercover female agent targeted and destroyed a key Chinese official. Now, Wallace's mysterious death suggests that the CIA itself has been compromised and that China has someone inside the agency.

Historia
If anyone could be considered a Russian counterpart to the infamous British double-agent Kim Philby, it was Oleg Gordievsky. The son of two KGB agents and the product of the best Soviet institutions, the savvy, sophisticated Gordievsky grew to see his nation's communism as both criminal and philistine. He took his first posting for Russian intelligence in 1968 and eventually became the Soviet Union's top man in London, but from 1973 on he was secretly working for MI6.
