Historia
When a food storage depot in famine-struck South Sudan is torched, American aid worker Brie Stewart flees, only to land in a market where she's the next item up for auction. Is the attack on the aid facility another assault upon the war-torn fledgling democracy, or has her family set her up as a pawn in their quest for oil rights? Chief Warrant Officer Sebastian Ford crossed paths with Brie years ago when she was a shill for her family's company, pushing a pipeline that threatened his tribe's land. He leads the rescue operation to save her.

Perfect Romantic Suspense
Revisado: 08-06-18
Catalyst is really a good example of one perfect romantic suspense - at least for me ;-)
The hero and heroine are believable and likable, there is clearly a lot of chemistry between the two and the back-story is really suspenseful. There are some misunderstandings between the main characters and while I would have liked them to be not warmed up quite so often, I can understand that it is not easy to let go of the perceived picture of yourself or someone else.
The suspense part of the story takes place at an unusual locale (Africa) and is not swiftly resolved but really keeps you at the edge of your seat.
While this is the second book in the series, it can be read - or listened to - as a standalone.
The reader can distinguish the characters well and is genuinely a joy to listen to.

Better than Indiana Jones!
Revisado: 05-21-17
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes, I would heartily recommend this audiobook to a friend, especially one working in archaeology. It is a great mixture of archaeological adventure, romance and modern political topics (international relations, bribery, influencing foreign governments, tourism - science - natural resources). And with interesting main figures.
Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?
Since I would categorise it as an archaeological romantic adventure, it really keeps one listening - even when one should be working! At least, I tended to prolong my lunch break "for just one more chapter" to see where the story would take the heroine, who was the real culprit and what was the "treasure" all are after.
What does Greg Tremblay bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
I think this story works really well as an audiobook. The cast is small enough (and the names of the protagonists different from each other) that one can keep track even if there are breaks between listening times. Greg Tremblay was able to differentiate the mainly male protagonists and also present the heroine in a convincing way. His pronunciation and tempo were also very well understandable for a non-native English speaker.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
Archaeology, Adventure, Suspense and Romance at the Horn of Africa - Heroine Dr Morgan Adler finds herself between fossils, warlords, international interests and the hard muscles of Master Sergeant Pax Blanchard

Below expectations

What disappointed you about Far Gone?
I really liked the earlier books by Laura Griffin and was looking forward to Far Gone. However, although I can understand that the heroine is frightened of relationships, proud, feels responsible for her brother and all happens very quickly, I often hoped for a more professional conduct by her (since she works as a detective, too). The end, after the showdown, also seemed rushed to me.
I also had problems with the narration. At the end of the sentence, often the voice of the narrator went up instead of down or stayed the same. Furthermore, I had difficulties discerning the parts presented from the perspective of the main heroine, Andrea, from those of another main female character, Elizabeth which was sometimes confusing until the name of the person doing s.th./thinking s.th. was mentioned.
Would you recommend Far Gone to your friends? Why or why not?
The suspense plot with this idea of home terrorism was quite good. I also liked the hero.
Would you be willing to try another one of Candace Thaxton’s performances?
Not necessarily.
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
disappointment

Wonderful continuation of the series
Revisado: 11-27-12
Where does Fair Game rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
Certainly this audiobooks ranks about the top 15 of all the audiobooks I've listened to so far.
Who was your favorite character and why?
I simply love Anna - I think she's a great heroine, growing in emotional strength, being a person one can easily relate to, being a wonderful partner for her husband. Although Charles follows her closely in the "liking"-scale. I appreciate especially that he is not one of this super-human, emotionally closed-off alpha heroes that kill practically without remorse or repercussions just because it is "necessary". He has his own issues with the course of the story and makes his own mistakes, but never takes it out on the heroine or someone else.
Which character – as performed by Holter Graham – was your favorite?
Charles
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
there were parts that made me teary-eyed, but there are also some good laughs
Any additional comments?
I had a few problems with understanding some characters, especially Charles, but I'm not a native speaker. In the end, I just read some passages again and then resumed listening.

Good for a repetition
Revisado: 12-10-11
What did you love best about Behind the Wheel Express - French 1?
It provides good way to refresh your knowledge of french by giving you a quick summary of the most important situations and sentences with time to repeat the answers for yourself.
Who was your favorite character and why?
The speaker speaks clear which is especially important for a language course.
Did the narration match the pace of the story?
The tempo of this language course is quick. Therefore, it is suitable if you already know french and just want to refresh your knowledge. If you are a beginner, the speaker is probably to quick and there is not enough time to repeat the sentences and also not enough practice-time.
Any additional comments?
As stated above, this language course is not suitable for beginners since most sentences are repeated only once and there is only little time foru the listener to repeat after the speaker. But if you already learned french, but have forgotten most vocabulary, this might be a good idea to start and remember. It provides a lot of the sentences which are needed on a short trip to Paris.
