Meant for children
Revisado: 12-30-21
This is a very quick and superficial overview. It quick and all over in just five minutes. It is truly meant to educate children about King Henry VIII. I'd suggest it to help a grade school student for a small book report or paper while reading up with other sources of material about Tudor history.

Retelling of Virgil and Homer stories.
Revisado: 04-20-15
Would you listen to Black Ships again? Why?
Yes. I'm going to continue on in the series. I think it would be kind of fun to read Virgil and Homer then this again.

This is my first time.
Have you listened to any of Gigi Shane’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
This is my first time.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
There were a few parts that did make me laugh. I found the little argument while some were sleeping funny. I didn't cry.
Any additional comments?
I liked it. It's mainly from the POV of Gull, an oracle. It's also a great deal of being on ships on the sea and trying to survive and having freedom. There is a romance in this. There are a few humorous scenes. I'll put it on the TRL for in case I'd like to

Historia
Reed Ferguson's first case is a daring adventure, complete with a dose of film noir, and a lot of humor. With a great supporting cast of the Goofball Brothers, Reed's not too bright neighbors, and Cal, Reed's computer geek friend, This Doesn't Happen in the Movies is detective noir at its best. Follow Reed as he solves crime akin to his cinematic hero, Humphrey Bogart.

Now-a-day Detective with Noir feel.
Revisado: 04-15-15
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
Yes. This is the first time reading a Renee Pawlish book and listening to Johnny Peppers. It had a Hollywood Noir feel to it.
Would you recommend This Doesn't Happen in the Movies to your friends? Why or why not?
Yes. For people that enjoy detective stories or Noir Hollywood memories. There is a lot of name dropping.
Which character – as performed by Johnny Peppers – was your favorite?
Reed.
Was This Doesn't Happen in the Movies worth the listening time?
Yes. I liked the story. A solid 3 stars.
Any additional comments?
I grabbed this kindle book a year ago. I just recently grabbed the audio version of it. It's a detective story, Reed's first case, set in present day but has a Noir feel to it. Reed is a huge fan to the Hollywood Noir genre and has all kinds of posters in his office. Thee is a lot of name dropping of the actors, actresses, movies, and even popular movies in the 80s.
It a quick and light read and goes very quickly and predictable. This isn't bad thing just knowing it will know what kind of mood to be in when reading it.
Pawlish is a fan of Hardy Boys and this is very evident with this detective story that stars Reed. I felt that it was along that style of a story.
