I am so obsessed with this series! If you enjoyed Phantasma or the movie Ready or Not, you’ll love Enchantra.
Also, Laura Horowitz is hands down my favorite single person narrator. Her style is simple and engaging.

A fun adventure!
Revisado: 04-01-25
I really enjoyed this addition to the Raiders of Arcana series.
The Tomb of the Sun King continues to follow Ellie and Adam from the Honduran wilderness to the heart of Egypt to purse the another mystical artifact. This time, the staff of Moses. For this adventure, Ellie and Adam are joined by Ellie’s adorably geeky brother Neil and her tough as nails and force to be reckoned with best friend, Constance and full cast of equally interesting secondary characters to round out the troop. Not the mention the familiar villains tailing them front the first book.
The story continues to tackle patriarchal social themes, daring adventure, and a bit of magic. This is the perfect mix of Indiana Jones and the Mummy. And despite evoking these classics, the story, characters and plot take on lives of their own. I’ve grown very attached to Ellie and Adam. I love to watch them interact. I love seeing Ellie stand up to preconceived social norms and how Adam supports every bit of her intelligence and beliefs. The storyline is so strong, that’s even when the perspectives shifted to Neil and Constance, I didn’t feel a gaping hole. I enjoyed following all the perspectives. Even secondary Egyptian characters such as Sayyid and Zeniab add meaningful layers to the story. And of course I haven’t mentioned the adventure! These characters are looking for a mystical artifacts and we have no idea what they actually do. What I was not expecting was the twist in history! This reminded me a little of a Dan Brown novel and I loved to watch Ellie and Neil decode the clues to get to their historical outcome.
I thoroughly enjoy the Raiders of Arcana series! This is the adventure I have been looking for. If you love the Mummy, if you love the treasure hunt through different cultural histories, I think you will love this series! And where the series is going next? I CANNOT WAIT.
The audiobook was also really well performed. I loved the variations in voices. I really enjoyable audio!

A fast paced fantasy
Revisado: 03-08-25
I enjoyed this more than I thought I would. I was reluctant to start it because I knew it was more on the fantasy side and as a romance girly, I thought it would be hard to get into it. I was wrong. It was so clearly plotted and fast paced. Every chapter had an another fantastical encounter with some other mystical evil creatures. What truly carries this story though, is the inevitable found family. While our fmc is kidnapped, she begins to find a different sense of home along the way. When she speaks of jealousy, it’s of the family she sees around her and the realization that she never had it. The fmc, Mara, is also tough and determined. She’s truly learning to come into her own throughout the book. The mmc Cyfrin is also the kind of mmc I like to see. He lifts her up, supports her and sees everything she’s capable of. And tge surrounding characters are equally likeable. Honestly, I was pleasantly surprised and I will continue to the next book. This one also ends on a bit of a cliff, and it is definitely not a complete story, so be warned, there’s no closure at the end.
I also enjoyed the narration! Well done!

Fun and enjoyable
Revisado: 02-23-25
I thought this book was fun and enjoyable! Fionn and Rose are a pair that complement each other. I didn’t really understand the extent of fionn’s life of solitude although we always knew he was the odd brother out. Like the previous two books, this was funny and so ridiculous at times you just have to laugh. Even Rose and Fionn are so opposite each other (she a circus performer and he a doctor), but it’s their darker sides that draw them together. And I absolutely ADORED the letters towards the end. They were so touching! So why not 5 stars? Well, Rose felt a little out of left field. I understand Sloane and Lark and their connection to each other and murder. Rose on the other hand had no connection to them or the brothers, her finding sighed killers was a total coincidence. Lucky for Rose they did have that in common or could you imagine the result of that secret coming out? It just felt a little too convenient. Rose did zero planning. It was a bit reckless and I can’t fathom how she got away with it until Fionn got involved. Ultimately I did like Fionn and Rose’s story arch and the friends with benefits angle. I also enjoyed Fionn’s unique hobbies (crochet, really?). I will say, this book wasn’t as shocking as Butcher and Blackbird, but I don’t think anything will live up to the ice cream.
The audiobook was also really well done! Just like the first two. There were times when I noticed the male narrators voice would randomly get louder but that’s probably an editing thing.

Historia
From BookTok sensation J.T. Geissinger comes Ruthless Creatures, a scorchingly hot mafia romance about two people bound together by a debt that must be collected. No matter the cost. Five years ago, my fiancé disappeared. He left me with a wedding dress I’d never wear. Left me with the kind of scars that can’t be healed. The man I built my future on vanished like a ghost. All that remained were my broken heart and a million unanswered questions.

Enjoyed this duet!
Revisado: 02-19-25
This book is a dark mafia romance. I loved the pacing and how quickly the plot moved. This book has plenty of steam so if that’s not your thing, definitely try a different book. The plot didn’t try to do too much, but did enough to keep the reader engaged. There was a bit of love at first sight which wasn’t my favorite, but all in all, I enjoyed the read.
I was also pleasantly surprised that this book ended up being a duet! I enjoyed both narrators.

Another twisty fast paced read
Revisado: 02-17-25
I’m getting through Freida books in a day or two. They are so easy to follow and keep you thinking. I enjoyed the Boyfriend a lot. I had 3 theories and whittled it to one and was wrong. The first theory I eliminated was correct. I’ll best you yet Frieda!
I liked that this book was not an upper class suburban setting although a few of the descriptions of nyc were a little cliché and really added nothing to feel of the setting. I wish the characters didn’t make poor decisions at times and ignore some red flags, but I guess we all do at some point. As always, this was a good reading escape that makes you think.
I also liked the narrators a lot, only it took me a minute to get used to Tom’s teenage voice. Was able to settle into tho!

Predictable and simple cowboy romance
Revisado: 02-09-25
This was a step out of my comfort zone, and ultimately an ok read for me, but unfortunately I don’t think I’ll be entering my cowboy era. I enjoyed the lead characters themselves. They were layered and had depth, but they were just not relatable for me. The story was also relatively simple. Two people who should have a professional relationship end up dealing with feelings. There’s some jealousy and a lot will they /won’t they, but it’s pretty predictable. I wish I had more to say. It just didn’t feel that special.I definitely breezed through the book, I just don’t think I’ll be delving back into this genre any time soon.
I also found the audiobook narration a little confusing. Although there were numerous narrators and times when it was duet, there were other times it ended up as dual narration. It would throw me off. Also the female narrators voice was really distracting! It didn’t feel like her tone matched the characters and there was little feeling behind it. I ended up completely switching the reading the book which was a bit better. I think if I would have only done audio it would have made me react to the book differently

Solid new series
Revisado: 02-06-25
Throughly enjoyed this book and it was a good start to a series. The plot moved quickly. Our fmc Vaasa and the mmc Reid are likable and layered. Vaasa comes across a little too serious at times, but I understand where her demeanor comes from and why she needs to have her walls up. Reid is a strong and determined leader with strong family ties.
Normally I don’t like a lot of politics in my books, but politics is important to how this story flows and somehow doesn’t overwhelm the story. It provides a focus for what is happening with the characters and helps to drive the character development without being the only thing that defines them.
I also loved this slow burn. The interactions between Vaasa and Reid are tense and fun to follow. If anything, I do believe Reid warmed up to Vaasa a little too quickly given some of her early actions. It’s felt a little love at first sight on his part, but there’s plenty that you see develop over time.
This book ends a little on a slight cliff, but sets up the next book to come. I’m definitely adding it to my tbr as soon as it’s available.
The audiobook was also ok. The narrator was engaging, but my only issue is that the narration was lacking enough variation to distinguish between characters. Vassa was fine, as she was really the only one with her tone and accent, but Reid’s accent and tone was shared with and had little variation from other characters in Mireh so it was hard to distinguish who was talking at times.

Thoroughly enjoyed this!
Revisado: 01-09-25
I absolutely loved the Traitor Queen! The arching story over the Bridge Kingdom and Traitor Queen covers intrigue, betrayal, romance, redemption, and more. The fmc Lara was a badass and I loved seeing her story shift over the two books. She owned the consequences of her actions like a true Queen. I also enjoyed our MMC Aren. He walked the line of love and obligation well. I understood his struggle and I understood his choices. These two characters complimented each other well and were both true leaders. If anything, I wish the Lara’s story was more solidly redeeming with the people. She fought so hard to undo her wrongs that wanted it to be totally earned. I know there’s much more to come and I’m here for the journey. I kick myself more and more everyday I left this series on my tbr.
I also really enjoyed the audiobook. The narrator’s did such a good job bringing the story to life. Do I wish it was duet narration instead of dual narration? Yes. I was never a fan of dual narration as I never liked male narrators doing female voices, but this series is the first that fully held my interest.

Nice Victorian ladies don’t run off to find legendary lost cities. One trifling little arrest shouldn’t have cost Ellie Mallory her job, but it’s only the latest in a line of injustices facing any educated woman with archaeological ambitions. When Ellie stumbles across the map to a mysterious ancient city, she knows she’s holding her chance to revolutionize Pre-Colombian history. There’s just one teensy complication.

A fun adventure!
Revisado: 01-06-25
If Rick and Evie (The Mummy) starred in an Indiana Jones movie, you’d have Empire of Shadows. It was a fun and fast paced adventure through a lost Mayan civilization. I love the energy and banter between our lead characters Ellie and Adam and the test and trials they were put through. I also loved the diverse cast of secondary characters. It took me a little bit to get used to the narration but by midway I was ok with it. Overall, I can’t wait for Tomb of the Sun King although I’m also dreading to potential wait for book 3 (if there is one).
