Lots of good info in this book. Would be better to have actual book for reference on training steps. Useful workbook on how to train through issues in a step by step manner. Narrator sounded like a robot & did not help the kind of schoolbook presentation of the book.

I generally enjoy mythology but this book was a snoozer. I was expecting a collection from various cultures, but it was more of a scholarly analysis comparing similar mythology stories and not the stories themselves. Very dry & boring.

Unlike American Pharoah, the story of his Triple Crown is disappointing. I don't know how something as exciting as the first Triple Crown winner in 30+ years can be boring, but this tale is. This is mostly like a name dropping gossip column of the people involved and very little about his actual life, training or the races. I kept listening, waiting for something interesting or for it to get better to match the reviews, but it didn't.

Huge fan of Kevin Hearne's series Iron Druid Chronicles & wanted to like this new one, but I didn't. Luke Daniels was awesome as usual but Xe Sands made it practically unlistenable. She was hard to understand & didn't bring much life to the story. My attention wandered a lot as the story did not keep me engaged. Much of book I felt like I was waiting for something to happen, but nothing really interesting ever did. Am not likely to continue with this series.

Between the reviews & a friend's recommendation, I expected to like this book. I didn't. I probably would have enjoyed reading it more than hearing the audiobook. The narrator was monotonous. His voice never gave any indication of excitement, suspense or any emotion really. Impossible to tell from inflection if it were the middle of a battle scene or one of the conversations between characters. It was also sometimes difficult to distinguish between characters as the voices were not distinct. I am also generally not a fan of the "historian" or "storyteller" method and this one fell flat to me and was not at all well done as in the Kingkiller Chronicles. The story did keep my attention for most of the book, but by the last 25%, I really was just trying to get through it. The ending did not make me want more of this story.

Stumbled across this book & totally enjoyed it. Laughed, cried, thought the story was well told & holds together well through the adventures. This is one that I think I will revisit periodically as it was too much fun for a one & done read.

I enjoyed this audiobook but didn't find it totally engrossing. I think it has potential & hope that the drag in this book stemmed from setting the groundwork for the Eragonverse. It did take awhile to unfold and at times, it didn't seem like the story was going anywhere. The narrator seemed too old to me for the hero & his take on Saffira seemed totally wrong to me. That said, the background that was set is intriguing and points towards some interesting adventures in the future.

I have been a huge fan of this series. Have read some, listened to the audiobooks on others. I have been working my way back through this series & listening to the audiobooks this time.

This narrator was a terrible choice for this series. He comes across goofy & idiotic and not at all with Harry's snarky charm. It has nearly ruined this installment of the series for me. Thank goodness the story itself is good & I can mostly hear it overlaid as Marsters would have done it. The only other narrator who may have done it justice is Luke Daniels from the Iron Druid Chronicles but that would have made my head explode to hear Atticus as Dresden.

So glad to see Marsters back for the more recent books.

Epic fail on this one.
