Courage and God's Love
Revisado: 08-23-23
Outstanding story of 2 sister's dedication to others through their growing faith. Loved it! The author created characters rich in personality and purpose, a nurse and journalist experiencing the terrors of the front lines. The narrator brought the story to life and skillfully added validity to the adventure.
I haven't enjoyed a book more in quite some time!

Loved it! My favorite moment was when both boys became slaves and could empathize with each other.
I want to thank the author for reading his work as he knew where to add the special touches. I really enjoyed his time and energy with each character.

Love the Story, so I put up with the narrator...
Revisado: 10-02-17
I have listened to each book in the series so far (3) and I have promised myself each time that I would write a review. It took three books, but here goes - I love love love the story, but what is going on with the narrator?? This applies for every book so far!! The female voices are too similar and more often than not, the male voices sound too feminine.
The numerous pauses taken by the narrator are seldom for dramatic effect, and are irritatingly breathy or noisy. She also displays unnessary smacking of lips.
I'm really not being picky, the behaviors listed above are continuous throughout each book in the series, so far. I have listened to many audiobooks, at least 2-3 per week for years, and this narrator is bad! BUT the author is excellent!!

Excellent Story!!
Revisado: 08-29-17
I laughed and cried throughout the story as the author skillfully crafted each character and scene. Amazing!!
Not only do you learn about tragedy, but young love, true love, community commitment, family loyalty, national patriotism, and love of music all interwoven. This is a wonderful story of self-discovery and selflessness.
I enjoyed the narrator and could distinguish between characters easily.
I would recommend this book to those who are looking for a story with "heart", drama, Native American traditions & stories, and a Christian read.

And yet, in the summer of 1900, East London is still poor, still brutal, still a shadow city to its western twin. Among the reformers is an idealistic young woman named India Selwyn-Jones, recently graduated from medical school. With the help of her influential fiance - Freddie Lytton, an up-and-coming Liberal MP - she works to shut down the area's opium dens that destroy both body and soul.

Great story but no medieval era or time travel
Revisado: 08-25-16
I was looking for a continuation of the medieval series. I didn't want to stay in present day. I kept waiting for the characters to go back in time and interact with the characters I grew to love from the previous books - it didn't happen. Do I risk the same thing happening in the next book? I don't know.

Historia
Ten years ago, I adopted Blue after I broke up with my boyfriend one hot, early summer night with the windows open and the neighborhood listening. The next morning, I went straight to the pound in Bushwick, Brooklyn. Articles on buying your first dog tell you to never buy a dog on impulse. Going to the pound because you need something in your life that's worth holding onto is rarely, if ever, mentioned. I asked the man at the pound to show me the biggest dogs they had. He showed me some Rottweiler-German Shepherd puppies that he said would grow to be quite large.

Good story - far too much swearing
Revisado: 08-24-16
I really liked the story but the swearing really ruined it for me. Too bad as I won't read another one of her books for that reason. I'm no prude and a good story just doesn't need to be so crude to be true-to-life. I spent 24 years in the military and I nor the people I worked with spoke as foul as this main character.
