Historia
German by birth, British by naturalization, Communist by conviction, Klaus Fuchs was a fearless Nazi resister, a brilliant scientist, and an infamous spy. He was convicted of espionage by Britain in 1950 for handing over the designs of the plutonium bomb to the Russians and has gone down in history as one of the most dangerous agents in American and British history. He put an end to America's nuclear hegemony and single-handedly heated up the Cold War. But, was Klaus Fuchs really evil?

Revisado: 08-09-20

Historia
By Winston Churchill's own admission, victory in the Second World War would have been "impossible without her". Until now, however, the only existing biography of Churchill's wife, Clementine, was written by her daughter. Sonia Purnell finally gives Clementine her due with a deeply researched account that tells her life story, revealing how she was instrumental in softening FDR's initial dislike of her husband and paving the way for Britain's close relationship with America.

Clementine is a wonderful listen
Revisado: 02-04-16
Clementine is a tremendous book. It brings the Churchills to life with all their flaws and their magnificent courage. Mixing history of their relationships with the English, the Roosevelts and Stalin, along with their dysfunctional children makes for a great listen. The narrator is fantastic and so is the author..

Historia
The debut psychological thriller that will forever change the way you look at other people's lives. Every day the same. Rachel takes the same commuter train every morning and night. Every day she rattles down the track, flashes past a stretch of cozy suburban homes, and stops at the signal that allows her to daily watch the same couple breakfasting on their deck. She’s even started to feel like she knows them. Jess and Jason, she calls them. Their life - as she sees it - is perfect. Not unlike the life she recently lost.

Girl is run over by the train
Revisado: 05-19-15
Very boring because each character is more warped than the other. The lives are not believable because the sexual merrygoround is not fathomable.
How this reached the best seller list is beyond me.

Historia
On May 7th, 1915 a passenger ship crossing the Atlantic sank with the loss of 1200 lives. On board were some world-famous figures, including multimillionaire Alfred Vanderbilt. But this wasn’t the Titanic and there was no iceberg. The liner was the Lusitania and it was torpedoed by a German U-boat.Wilful Murder is the hugely compelling story of the sinking of the Lusitania. The first book to look at the events in their full historical context, it is also the first to place the human dimension at its heart.

Who is Bernie Madoff, and how did he pull off the biggest Ponzi scheme in history? These questions have fascinated people ever since the news broke about the respected New York financier who swindled his friends, relatives, and other investors out of $65 billion. Many have speculated about what must have happened, but no reporter has been able to get the full story - until now. Diana B. Henriques of the New York Times has written the definitive book on the man and his scheme.

Bernie Madoff Revealed
Revisado: 01-24-14
Diana Henriques exhaustive research paid off in learning almost step by step how Madoff pulled off one of the biggest financial Ponzi schemes in the history of the U.S. It is unbelievable how much money Madoff and his "feeders" made and how many people and institutions were affected and wiped out.
This is a long term read and at times confusing, but overall a terrific learning experience of what not to do with financial advisers and secret tips.

Historia
In June 1876, on a desolate hill above a winding river called "the Little Bighorn", George Armstrong Custer and all 210 men under his direct command were annihilated by almost 2,000 Sioux and Cheyenne. The news of this devastating loss caused a public uproar, and those in positions of power promptly began to point fingers in order to avoid responsibility.

A Terrible Glory Will Haunt you.
Revisado: 01-11-14
James Donovan has written one of the most graphic pages of a war with Indians. At one point tears came to my eyes at the slaughter we go through. The real point is whether Custer was guilty of malfeasance or was he deserted by fearfull generals. The reader can decide for him or her self. I took the book out of the library to get maps to follow the battles. Unfortunately they were few and far between. As I said , the battles and slaughter will haunt you long after you finish it. The reader, James Boles, is is outstanding.

Historia
Seth Hubbard is a wealthy man dying of lung cancer. He trusts no one. Before he hangs himself from a sycamore tree, Hubbard leaves a new, handwritten, will. It is an act that drags his adult children, his Black maid, and Jake into a conflict as riveting and dramatic as the murder trial that made Brigance one of Ford County's most notorious citizens, just three years earlier. The second will raises far more questions than it answers. Why would Hubbard leave nearly all of his fortune to his maid? Had chemotherapy and painkillers affected his ability to think clearly?

Historia
FBI agent Rachel Walling finally gets the call she's dreaded for years: the one that tells her the Poet has returned. Years ago she worked on the famous case, tracking down the serial killer who wove lines of poetry into his hideous crimes. Rachel has never forgotten Robert Backus, the killer who called himself the Poet, and apparently he has not forgotten her either.

The story does not end well. More like a cliffhanger in the movies. We know the killer from the start and how to catch him is the story. Also several arrows at the FBI. Just disappointed me.

Historia
From Louisa May Alcott's beloved classic Little Women, Geraldine Brooks has animated the character of the absent father, March, and crafted a story "filled with the ache of love and marriage and with the power of war upon the mind and heart of one unforgettable man" (Sue Monk Kidd). With "pitch-perfect writing" (USA Today), Brooks follows March as he leaves behind his family to aid the Union cause in the Civil War. His experiences will utterly change his marriage and challenge his most ardently held beliefs.

Another winner for Ken Follet Fans
Revisado: 11-09-12
Follet continues to educate the listener about world wars and the inner circles of decision making along with strong loves and failures. I recommend it certainly after reading Fall of Giants. The fears and problems of living in dictatorships is sharply drawn and makes one shutter at the reality he draws. Well done Mr. Follett
