Historia
Enigmatic and sexy, Professor Gabriel Emerson is a well-respected Dante specialist by day, but by night he devotes himself to an uninhibited life of pleasure. He uses his notorious good looks and sophisticated charm to gratify his every whim, but is secretly tortured by his dark past and consumed by the profound belief that he is beyond all hope of redemption. When the sweet and innocent Julia Mitchell enrolls as his graduate student, his attraction and mysterious connection to her not only jeopardizes his career, but sends him on a journey in which his past and his present collide.

Lame ‘H@llmark’ BS but even worse.
Revisado: 04-02-25
I can’t believe this was a best seller. Let me summarize. Bad boy and sweet innocent girl hate one another at first then have awkward attraction yet predictably terrible communication until bad boy and sweet girl fall in love. Everything is so belabored and mistakes are repeated a thousand times. It was all I could do to not mark as finished and find something interesting to listen to. NOT recommended.

Too much opinion
Revisado: 05-26-24
Offers some solid advice but too much fawning over politicians. She seems to view them as Gods, especially the liberal side.

Historia
F. Spencer Chapman, the book's unflappable author, writes with typical British aplomb an amazing tale of four years spent as a guerrilla in the jungle, haranguing the Japanese in occupied Malaysia. Traveling sometimes by bicycle and motorcycle, rarely by truck, and mainly in dugouts, on foot, and often on his belly through the jungle muck, Chapman recruits sympathetic Chinese, Malays, Tamils, and Sakai tribesman into an irregular corps of jungle fighters. Their mission: to harass the Japanese in any way possible.

Too much talk of the food.
Revisado: 03-14-24
I’m sure it was hard to survive in the jungle during wartime but I was expecting more war stories and how he helped win the war. What I got was a detailed description of what seems like every meal he ate while in the jungle. Literally seems like food is mentioned constantly and it became very annoying. Save your credit.

Amazing story
Revisado: 01-25-20
Truly amazing story of heroism and tragedy. The heroics of the American soldier never ceases to amaze me but the bad decisions of the brass usually angers me. The Navigator was obviously someone we want to keep out of the hands and interrogation rooms of the enemy, which is why we should t have sent him flying over the battlefield in the first place. Lots of info shared, high suspense, awesome storyline, and a WTF towards the brass that authorized al this.

Excellent Listen

Awesome story and storyteller. The audiobook created a motion picture in my head and I ‘watched’ the stories unfold. I learned a lot and was very entertained while doing it. This will lead me to conduct more research on the brave soldiers, locations, equipment and battles discussed. I will also be looking for more of Adam Makos’s works.
