Historia
Everyone knows that regular exercise and weight training lead to physical strength. But how do we strengthen ourselves mentally for the truly tough times? And what should we do when we face these challenges? Or as psychotherapist Amy Morin asks, what should we avoid when we encounter adversity? Through her years counseling others and her own experiences navigating personal loss, Morin realized it is often the habits we cannot break that are holding us back from true success and happiness.

The Worst Narration I've Heard in a While
Revisado: 08-15-18
I didn't merely struggle to finish this book, I struggled to even begin. The author unfortunately decided to narrate this book and I couldn't get over her maudlin shaky monotone voice to get through an entire chapter. I skipped the first chapter as I couldn't relate to so much death on a personal level, but after wondering if Chapter 2 would ever get past basic tropes you could read on a BuzzFeed article, I couldn't listen to her voice any further...

Historia
In her late 20s, Cait Flanders found herself stuck in the consumerism cycle that grips so many of us: earn more, buy more, want more, rinse, repeat. Even after she worked her way out of nearly $30,000 of consumer debt, her old habits took hold again. When she realized that nothing she was doing or buying was making her happy - only keeping her from meeting her goals - she decided to set herself a challenge: she would not shop for an entire year. The Year of Less documents Cait's life for 12 months during which she bought only consumables.

Not For Everyone, But Definitely For Me!!
Revisado: 08-08-18
I wanted to keep listening to this audiobook in a single sitting but I had to stop myself because it felt too important to not digest slowly and thoroughly mull over between listening sessions. I know this book will not strike everyone as it did me - as the most relevant and unsettlingly apropos advice I've heard in years... But I cannot believe how lucky I feel to have stumbled across this audiobook! I felt like the author was simultaneously reading my mind, analyzing the biggest mistakes I didn't even realize I'd been making in my life (financially & emotionally), AND providing the kind of structured advice you could pay thousands of dollars to a therapist in search of but still never recieve. I cannot recommend this book highly enough to anyone who has an addiction of any kind (shopping, eating, drinking) or a propensity to self-sabotage any efforts you make towards overcoming such an addiction. I do think the author should have invested in a professional production instead of reading it herself, her nasal tone almost made the audiobook unbearable to listen to in some parts. I also think her more personal anecdotes vary in their relevancy to "readers" (listeners!)... I had to skip through a few towards the end. But maybe those feel as relevant and useful to some readers as the rest of her book did to me, so who am I to judge? Overall, I can see myself listening to this many many more times!

Historia
Malcolm Bevingstoke, Duke of Haven, has lived the last three years in self-imposed solitude, paying the price for a mistake he can never reverse and a love he lost forever. The dukedom does not wait, however, and Haven requires an heir, which means he must find himself a wife by summer's end. There is only one problem - he already has one.

Slightly Over The Top... But Ultimately Amazing!
Revisado: 08-07-18
The beginning scene in which the heroine interrupts parliament is almost as outlandishly ridiculous as the scene towards the end where a vote for their divorce comes down to a single vote... But I think this book is worth 5 stars for its depiction of the sorrow and loss that miscarriages can inflict, a topic generally brushed over or never discussed in romance novels. Ultimately worth the listen!
