Historia
When you’ve maxed out your level, done every quest, and defeated every enemy, there’s not much left. So after seven centuries of immortality, Sean wants nothing more than to die. But when a woman from a past life informs him of a real, flesh-and-blood descendant that has hacked his way in, Sean finds a new purpose. The AI doesn’t take kindly to interlopers, and parks the intruder in the one realm so buggy that even the oldest, most powerful denizens of Afterall steer clear of it - the Bitrealm.

Meh at best
Revisado: 12-23-24
The story in this is incredibly weak. It felt like the author just wanted to get straight to the part where the characters start grinding and leveling up without ever actually creating a solid story line to keep the reader interested. I was disappointed because I thought the basic idea was pretty solid, there just wasn't enough meat to the story line to keep me on the hook. I bailed about halfway through because I just didn't care about any of the characters or where the "story" was going. Might be different for you though.

overall not worth your time
Revisado: 12-19-24
This absolutely does not translate well into audio format. Probably why it is free, however even at free this isn't worth the time unless you have the written book and can see the examples. If you have the written book I can't see why you would be here. The first half of the book is going through explanations like...what is the internet, and describing what an algorithm is, and the second half of this is completely useless without the examples in the written book.

Historia
In the middle of the night, in a house on a quiet street in suburban Minneapolis, intruders silently murder Luke Ellis' parents and load him into a black SUV. The operation takes less than two minutes. Luke will wake up at The Institute, in a room that looks just like his own, except there's no window. And outside his door are other doors, behind which are other kids with special talents - telekinesis and telepathy - who got to this place the same way Luke did: Kalisha, Nick, George, Iris, and 10-year-old Avery Dixon.

Revisado: 02-19-24
I wouldn't say that this is my favorite SK novel. but it is still very good. it has that King feel to it, and it kept me engaged the whole way through. I will definitely give this one a relisten in the future.

When the crew of the Oceanus rescued a man close to death, its captain could barely have guessed at the incredible story that man would come to share. This is the story of Victor Frankenstein: a man obsessed with discovering the secret of life and cheating death; a man who brings to life to a body built from corpses; and a man who rejects this would-be child.... Soon Victor and his creature are entangled in a dangerous game of cat and mouse across Europe. But who is truly the monster?

a disgrace
Revisado: 11-23-23
I love the original text of this story, and this is not that. The production quality is good enough, but the changes to the story line don't add to it at all, in fact they make Victor out to be a murderous mad man, which is not who he was at all in the original book. also buyer beware you only get about 3 hours of actual story and then 2 hours of bloopers and history. having 2 hours of B.S. tagged onto the end was the last straw for me, I felt cheated. I wouldn't waste a credit on this and I certainly wouldn't spend $30 to purchase it.

Not very good
Revisado: 09-30-22
first off the episodes are labeled backwards which make playback a pain in the butt.
if this is supposed to be a true story then it sucks. this has very little to do with with the Polybius myth and they are just grasping for staws at anything to try and drag this story out of an attention starved weirdo. if this is a work of fiction then perhaps these guys need to follow another career path because the story just isn't good.
as an arcade collector it's very clear these guys know little to nothing of the hobby/community of arcade games. thinking that every cabinet that was painted black is possibly a real Polybius cabinet is ridiculous and shows their lack of knowledge.
if you are also an arcade collector this podcast is laughable and will trigger you for sure.
if you're just here for the conspiracy story there are much better out there.
the best part of this was the arcade sound effects at the end of each episode.

the narration was spot on, great job by both. the story was a little far fetched and escalated far too quickly. but I still found myself itching to keep listening to see what happened next. well worth the listen.

honestly the best thing I can say about this is. it's free.
it has some good elements to it that I enjoyed. but all in all the story was very rushed and a lot of things just get glazed over. I understand full production like this isn't cheap, but anything worth doing is worth doing right. even if they extend the series the whole beginning is so rushed it wouldn't get any better. terrible open ending. I hate to dog on someone's hard work but this was just a half out together story line they tried to polish up with fancy production value.

The cause of death is unknown to all aside from Jonas, and his lone companion, Bubbles, a sarcastic AI with aspirations to be more human, or a serial killer. One of the two. Maybe both. BEST DUO ON AUDIBLE
Revisado: 11-24-21
I blindly buy anything J.R. and R.C.B. this was no different. I don't read a synopsis I usually have no idea what the story line of the book is when I start listening and I am NEVER disappointed. Jeremy is a true master of his craft and I love how he is bringing all these books into over lapping stories. I can't wait to see what future books bring. and R.C.Bray.....i could listen to that man read the damn telephone book (for those that remember them) a true master at making the story feel alive. I can picture every scene though his voice.
this book itself is spectacular and I don't feel 5 stars is enough. J.R's sense of humor is 100% in line with my own. keep up the good work boys!!

Ben and Marian Rolfe are desperate to escape a stifling summer in their tiny Brooklyn apartment, so when they get the chance to rent a mansion in upstate New York for the entire summer for only $900, it's an offer that's too good to refuse. There's only one catch: behind a strange and intricately carved door in a distant wing of the house lives elderly Mrs. Allardyce, and the Rolfes will be responsible for preparing her meals. But Mrs. Allardyce never seems to emerge from her room, and it soon becomes clear that something weird and terrifying is happening in the house.

a whole lot of nothing
Revisado: 11-22-21
there just isn't really anything that happens in this book. the simple fact that R.C. Bray was the narrator was the only reason I made it through this one. I could listen to that dude read the telephone book. but I found myself just waiting for something to happen through out the whole book until and nothing ever really did. I hate talking poorly of someone's hard work but it's just not very entertaining or engaging.

one good narrator one bad
Revisado: 11-08-21
being a HUGE JR fan I was hesitant to give this a go as I typically do not like books with more than one narrator. this book confirms that fact for me. while I enjoyed the story and the guestions that it asks I couldn't get past the difference in narrators. R.C. Bray is amazing as always. but Jeffrey got under my skin with his cadence and speach pattern. so much so that I had a hard time following along on his chapters and the promised authors notes at the end of the book was the main drive getting me through this listen.
it is an interesting topic and one I have pondered many times. but this book needs to be read not listened too.
