Historia
Brandi Carlile was born into a musically gifted, impoverished family on the outskirts of Seattle and grew up in a constant state of change, moving from house to house, trailer to trailer, 14 times in as many years. Though imperfect in every way, her dysfunctional childhood was as beautiful as it was strange, and as nurturing as it was difficult. At the age of five, Brandi contracted bacterial meningitis, which almost took her life, leaving an indelible mark on her formative years and altering her journey into young adulthood.

Damn, What a story…
Revisado: 09-24-24
Before I read this story, I knew the music, but not the writer. After listening, I’ve come to appreciate Brandi Carlisle and the story she has shared.

Historia
Ellie McFadden has intuitive gifts. She can sense what other living things are feeling. She can even talk to animals! Too bad she can’t connect with her twin sister, Parker. Parker McFadden has kinetic gifts. She can cause shocks to the Earth and produce heat energy that explodes from her body like fire, especially when she is angry. The sisters aren’t aware of the legacy they inherited from their mother until, on their 13th birthday, two mysterious relatives on the Power side whisk them off to an isolated sanctuary called Haven.

Really Good
Revisado: 07-07-23
The story is quite good, two sisters learning not only about their past, but also to trust and support each other again. The twist at the end was unexpected.
Huge fan of Melissa Benoist and the way she and her sister narrated the story was quite original, two sisters=two narrators.

Even though you are experiencing the story through the eyes of a 13 y/o it still holds your interest and leaves you wanting more. Can’t wait to download the next book in the series.

Historia
Comic book superheroines bend steel, travel across time and space, and wield awesome forces. These mighty females do everything that male superheroes do. But they have to work their wonders in skirts and high heels. The Supergirls asks whether their world of fantasy is that different from our own. Are the stories of Wonder Woman’s search for an identity, Batwoman and Power Girl’s battle for equality, and Manhunter’s juggling of a crime fighting career and motherhood also an alternative saga of modern American women?

What a history
Revisado: 01-09-22
As a fan of comics I found this book fascinating in its detailed history of my favorite heroines. The mention of my personal favorite, Supergirl, drew me to the title but it is the writers wit and research that kept my interest. I would love to hear his opinions of the rise of Marvel, Wonder Woman and the TV versions of our favorite heroines.
