Very informative and full of valuable information
Revisado: 11-07-17
This audiobook is very inspiring and has a lot of information. It goes through several "stages" of a creative person's career and shows how to ascend each level before getting to the next. Listen through all the way to the end at least once, then go back and work on the level you've identified yourself to be. It can seem daunting, but the first and very important step is to have the right mindset. It is the basic foundation. After that comes craft, and only then, when you have mastered your own self, do you worry about reaching readers and creating a marketing empire.
I wish I can breeze through each level faster, but I also want to do things well, so I will be listening to and referring to the ebook, a lot in my creative career.

Historia
At Annie Laurance's Death on Demand bookstore on Broward's Rock Island, South Carolina, murder suddenly isn't confined to the well-stocked shelves. Author Elliot Morgan's abrupt demise during a weekly gathering of famous mystery writers called the Sunday Night Regulars is proof positive that a bloody sword is sometimes mightier than a brilliant pen. With Annie in the unenviable position of primary police suspect, the pretty young mystery maven and her wealthy paramour, Max Darling, embark on an investigation into a classic locked-room mystery with high stakes.

An old favorite
Revisado: 10-08-17
I last read this book almost thirty years ago. Listening to the audiobook brings this story back to life again. I love how technology in the late 80's was so "primitive" and there weren't cell phones everywhere. Love the premise of Annie trying to solve a real murder by reviewing murder mysteries and what fictional detectives would do.
The audiobook definitely resurrects old favorites and makes for an enjoyable listen.

Very Informative, but need Ebook for all the URLs
Revisado: 09-06-17
This book covers everything a beginning self-publishing author would need with lists of websites spanning from book awards to places to publish. It's a good introduction and a good reference in the ebook form. The bonus section at the end is good listening. It is a series of interviews from six trail-blazing self-published authors. Recommended.

Intriguing Time Travel with suspense
Revisado: 09-03-17
This was a very interesting audiobook and story. But for me, if there is a mystery, I need to re-read portions I didn't get. Sometimes, it felt like the past-time wasn't really past, for example, Bobby "knew" that phone service was out all the way to Atlanta, but he should only know that his landline didn't work. Then we skipped back to some intermediate time with a stalker, and then back to the future, and I couldn't figure out why the main character was at both places at the same time? [until I read the ebook and saw it was a flashback of the future while she was dreaming in the past], back to the past, and then future again.
However, by re-reading (the ebook) parts I didn't get, I could follow the story and I love stories that are different from the usual and this one has paranormal, suspense, romance, time-travel, and creepiness.
I liked the narrator's expressive voice and she's very easy to listen to. Very enjoyable.

A highland love story and dream come true
Revisado: 08-07-17
This was such a delightful book. It made me want to chuck it all and go to Scotland and teach. The narrator, Elizabeth Klett, was excellent, and the story was so dreamy, especially meeting Graeme Gates, the kind-hearted and sexy Scottish handyman who was a wanderer. The theme of the book had to do with opposites. Molly is a planner who has to have everything scheduled whereas Gates lives by the seat of his pants. Each has a parent who was the opposite and was determined not to be like that parent, but on the other side, in trying so hard to be what their parent was not, they hurt themselves and each other.
Predictably, there was the falling love and then the realization that things weren't going to work. The breakup was long, but necessary for Molly to find herself and to be herself. Finally, she became the strong woman she'd always wanted to be, and well, there was a happy ending where they met each other halfway but in no way compromised.
The writing is so well done that I can easily picture myself in the Highlands, especially that picturesque island of Lilliebrae. I loved the pace of the story, that it wasn't rushed, and that we got to stick with Molly through her entire transformation. The side characters were colorful and made the entire community feel like home.
I absolutely love the narrator and the way she brought the Scots language to life. It was easy to listen to and follow and her voice transports you into the story so you forget that you're not a part of it.
I love the Scots language and the narrator's accent as well as the final realization that Scotland had become Molly's home too.

Pride and Prejudice is a novel of manners by Jane Austen, first published in 1813. The story follows the main character, Elizabeth Bennet, as she deals with issues of manners, upbringing, morality, education, and marriage in the society of the landed gentry of the British Regency. Elizabeth is the second of five daughters of a country gentleman living near the fictional town of Meryton in Hertfordshire, near London.

A delightful rendition of a classic
Revisado: 07-11-17
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
I would definitely recommend this version narrated by Elizabeth Klett. Since there are many narrators who do these classics, I think it's highly important to love the voice telling the story. The sisters come alive with Elizabeth's voice, and so do the other characters in a way you can tell them apart. The narrator is able to do many different voices without making them sound like "caricatures" which I appreciate.
What did you like best about this story?
The interplay and flirtation between Darcy and Elizabeth Bennett, Mr. Darcy's slow and troubling realization that he had feelings for Elizabeth, and the social commentary of those days.
Which character – as performed by Elizabeth Klett – was your favorite?
Elizabeth Bennett, but all of them were well done. Elizabeth was the most sensible, and a foil to some of the more silly ones who were man crazy.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
The entire Wickham affair was quite tongue in cheek, as well as the social climbing of some of the minor characters. That part where the younger sisters thought Wickham was such a celebrity was hilarious.
Any additional comments?
With audiobooks, you have to be comfortable with listening to a narrator for many hours, so voice is very important. I enjoyed Elizabeth Klett's narration.

A very sweet and sexy tale
Revisado: 07-11-17
What did you like best about this story?
I loved the interplay between Luke and Daisy where they were both unsure of their own worth. Luke had a past he was hiding from and so did Daisy. Listening to them finally open up to each other was so emotional.
What does B.J. Harrison bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
I don't have much time for reading these days, so I would say I love to listen while doing other things. B.J. Harrison brings warmth and snark to the story which makes it all the more enjoyable.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
It's not what they say about you that matters, but who you are.
Any additional comments?
I've always enjoyed Melissa Foster's stories and Taken By Love is no exception.

Interesting and light-hearted mystery
Revisado: 07-01-17
This was a delightful and light-hearted story, although it involved a murderous clan on a Greek island. It must be me, because I can follow romances much easier on audio than mysteries. Even though I listened to the entire story, I still don't know what the package is and/or what was in it.
The most interesting things were the random observations Mrs. Pargeter made and how she would call her departed husband's criminal friends to help get her out of a pickle.

Love is Vindicated
Revisado: 06-29-17
Would you consider the audio edition of You're Not Alone to be better than the print version?
I enjoyed the audio version, but have not read the print version, so I can't say.
What other book might you compare You're Not Alone to and why?
Distorted Loyalty by Stacy Eaton and Whether I'll Live or Die by Stacy Eaton. Her books are very emotional and gritty. She doesn't shield or hide the reality of ordinary people's lives. It's always an emotional ride and you learn something by experiencing it through her character's eyes.
Have you listened to any of Maria Marquis’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
Not listened before, but I loved this performance. The only thing that confused me at the beginning was that the first-person male part was also read by her, but later on, I got used to it and was able to figure out who was speaking.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Not wanting to spoil the story, but the last struggle was very moving. Also, when Trinity discovers she's a passionate woman and capable of loving and being loved. She was so scarred by the abuse she received from Brendan.
Any additional comments?
Gavin is a hero anyone could love. He is truly a knight in shining armor, but also has a dark backstory which makes him understand and empathize with Trinity and others who were abused. The book was focused on Trinity, so we didn't get much of Gavin, but I hope there would be another story that goes into his struggles and overcoming abuse. Maybe a prequel?
