Great for WH40K Beginners

Quick-Witted and Hilarious

I normally don't like my horror Actual Play Podcasts to be humourous, but I make an exception with these guys. The humor is sharp, the witticisms quick, and yet, they are able to keep from falling into the cliche of everyone trying to be "the funny one" which brings down the group. The characters all have their funny moments, but they have plenty of emotional, creepy, and downright scary moments too. Mad props to the host to be able to control this group to get any actual investigating done. Give these guys a chance.

Wasted Potential

I really thought the story was a great idea: villain protagonist, Krampus vs. Santa.

Very quickly, I grew bored of it. The main character, Jesse, is unsympathetic with a daughter used for easy "humanizing" points, but it still falls far too short. Krampus constantly mentions that he has gall and is clever...but at no point does he really display gall or cleverness. He is probably the single stupidest main character I have ever experienced. Every decision he makes is the wrong one, but you never feel bad for him because if he would take five seconds to ever think, he would realize he was making an incredibly stupid mistake. So, you don't feel bad for him when it obviously blows up in his face. Now, there's nothing wrong with having a dumb protag, but he shows no other redeeming qualities: not only is he stupid, but he's cowardly, and greedy as well.

In fact, it almost feels like the author was mocking Southerners with all of the human characters as being nothing but trailer trash.

In fact, almost the entire cast is unsympathetic: Santa is a brute, Krampus is deranged/psychotic, the estranged wife is stupid. The only ones I found the slightest bit sympathetic was Isabelle, Vernon, Abigail (for having two really, really, really stupid parents, she was little more than a plot device).

Narrator is pretty good, though his Southern accent could use some work.

Still A Classic

while this is an amazing story, and the narrator is very talented, the one stickler I have is that the identity of the killer is revealed about 65% way through the story because he reads a certain line of anonymous dialogue in a character's voice.

still worth it though.

I was surprised by this story. What started as a seemingly simple haunted house story spiraled into some interesting, creepy story and a lot of twists.

Jurassic Park Meets Monsters

I really enjoyed the overall premise, but most of the cast was unlikable, to say the least. Especially most of the male cast.

The narrator was alright, but not really energetic with his delivery, and could have tried to very the characters' voices a bit more.
