Historia
Ten years ago he killed my son. Today I married him. Ten years ago my darling son Jesse was murdered and our perfect family was destroyed. My strong, handsome boy, so full of life, became a memory, a photo I carried with me everywhere. But today I’m finally close to finding happiness again. My ash-blonde hair has been curled into ringlets. Carefully placed white flowers frame my delicate features. The small, drab chapel has been prettied up with white satin, and there are tiny red hearts scattered on the small table where I will soon sign the register with my new husband.

Worth the wait
Revisado: 01-23-22
It is more about the characters than the mystery, but there are surprises and it was worth the read/listen. It is not Gone Girl but the back and forth between the different viewpoints is entertaining and the ending is worth the wait.

Keeps you guessing until the end
Revisado: 11-16-21
Hardly ever do I find a detective story that keeps me guessing til the end. Good story, almost
too many possibilities for the murderer and, an added twist unrelated to the murder!! I am a fan and will keep listening. I enjoyed the narrator, but I did lower the speed to .9 and it improved all of the voices tremendously.

Historia
An apparent accidental death turns out to be only the first of many murders. Ben Kendall was a troubled man. Coming back from Vietnam with PTSD and scars that no one else could see, he hid away from the world, filling his house with an ever-increasing amount of stuff, until finally the piles collapsed and he was found dead, crushed beneath his own belongings. But what on first glance looks to be the tragic accidental death of a hoarder maybe something much more - and much deadlier

Forget the naysayers! This truly is one of my favorites. It has it all! Just when you think it’s over, it’s not. And the ending, to me, was perfect!

If you like a good trial story…
Revisado: 04-17-21
Before or after I love the blow-by-blow of the Barbra Holloway trials and this did not disappoint. You could solve the mystery of who done it well before the trial, but you did not have the gory details or know how it would turn out. This is my favorite narrator for the Barbra Holloway series. If you are a fan of Barbara Holloway I highly recommend this book.

Will keep you guessing
Revisado: 03-28-21
Great mystery coupled a legal battle that culminates in a murder trial. The narration was perfect-other narrators in this series have not been that great...the female lawyer is a positive role model and the story of her client and his deformity poignant and timely.
I have listened to other books in this series, but this remains my favorite. They are all good reads/listens.

Surprised me
Revisado: 02-20-21
The story was written in the 50’s so it was an interesting glimpse into married life back then. The story had some surprising twists, didn’t drag on, and a nice surprise at the end. Narrator fit perfectly.

Strains the imagination
Revisado: 12-21-20
The narration was great. The story wasn’t bad, but the character development left something to be desired. If a woman, however desperate, is leaving her husband she would’ve had money set aside and somewhere to go. I kept listening to the end, and it got better, but the way the author tied the two tales together was not very credible.

Historia
Investigative journalist Laura Chambers is back in her tiny hometown of Hillsborough, North Carolina, the one place she swore never to return. Fired from The Boston Globe, her career in shambles, she reluctantly takes a job with the local paper. The work is simple, unimportant, and worst of all, boring - at least until a missing girl turns up dead, the body impeccably clean, dressed to be the picture of innocence. Years earlier, 10-year-old Patty Finch left home and never made it back. But for the people of Hillsborough, Patty was just the beginning.

The story itself was good although it left some loose ends. Not the typical, expected ending. Felt as though I would have liked an epilogue.

BEST NARRATOR EVER: worth every penny!!
Revisado: 11-08-19
For the most part I’m a big Grisham fan, but a few of his stories did drag on a bit in places. The narrator was PERFECT and the story had me laughing out loud at places and in tears at others. As a lawyer, the plot was, as usual, realistic. I loved this one!!
