Ruth Jefferson is a labor and delivery nurse at a Connecticut hospital with more than 20 years’ experience. During her shift, Ruth begins a routine checkup on a newborn, only to be told a few minutes later that she’s been reassigned to another patient. Overt and subtle racism explored
Revisado: 11-15-22
Jodi Picoult does a really good job of showing different kinds of racism that exist in American society in a very engaging storyline. It is a thought-provoking story that gives voice to different perspectives around this pervasive issue. Part of solving the problem of racism involves understanding different points of view and having compassion for all of us imperfect people with our prejudices while redirecting hurt into love. This novel reflects that very effectively.

Maybe this isn’t my genre
Revisado: 07-31-22
I was looking for a feel-good read, and although this was light, I mostly felt frustrated by the story. I found it hard to believe that the female protagonist was so unaware that she was in love with her best friend. They were so physically playful and of course so attracted to each other that I found it implausible that it would take ten years to figure it out. Maybe light romance novels aren’t my thing, but it was just a little simplistic and not terribly interesting to me.

Historia
A Tale of Two Cities is one of Charles Dickens's most exciting novels. Set against the backdrop of the French Revolution, it tells the story of a family threatened by the terrible events of the past. Doctor Manette was wrongly imprisoned in the Bastille for 18 years without trial by the aristocratic authorities.

Enjoyable and Educational
Revisado: 09-24-21
I highly recommend this title, the classic story of the French revolution written by Charles Dickens. The reader has a wonderful voice and does a great job changing his tone and accent for each character. The vocabulary and the style of writing brings the reader to a different era.

Historia
Esther, a painter living in Jamaica and recovering from the death of her husband, comes across a man on a mountain road with no memory of his past. As a hurricane rushes towards the island, she shelters the handsome stranger, names him “Monty”, and tries to uncover the mystery of his missing memory. She soon finds herself falling in love with a man she barely knows, and who doesn’t even know himself. The Mountain and the Sea is a romantic tale about letting go of the past and embracing the present.

A treat for the ears
Revisado: 04-22-20
The performance is what made this story so enjoyable to hear. Her Jamaican voice has a lilting cadence and brings warmth to the listener’s ears.

This is a meditation to help turn your dreams and desires into reality. By spending time visualizing the things we want have, experience, or are working towards we get a very clear picture of what it is we want. Diving deeper, we will imagine what it would be like to have, experience, or accomplish the thing, learning how to generate the core desired feelings that we're really after.

Wonderful meditations for beginners or the expert
Revisado: 10-15-19
I am new to meditation, and have always been challenged to make it a practice. I have been a chronic busybody and the stress has caught up with me. These meditations are easy to follow, and I find the narrators voice to be very soothing. I especially like the focus on the breath and manifesting what you want. I highly recommend this for anyone who can give 15 minutes a day to improve their over wellbeing.
