My kind of story
Revisado: 04-20-25
I love stories like this…where wishes and dreams come true, but not without suffering and villains that get their just desserts. I may have made it sound like a fantasy for teens, but it is definitely an adult fantasy, and the best kind…one about books, the perfect type of bookstore and people who love books finding each other and finding their dream. The narrative style and narrators were brilliant.

My kind of book.
Revisado: 04-16-25
This book encompasses all of my favourite things in life, both real and wished for: Books, Magic, Time Travel and ordinary people who find the courage to fight against the evils they encounter in the world. Friendships made, but no schmalzy love story needed.

Bentley Little, depraved as usual.
Revisado: 04-13-25
Very gripping story, as is normally the case with Bentley Little’s tales of evil. Once again we can count on the horror slanting toward sexual depravity. Narration fit the story and characters perfectly.

Set in a small-town North Carolina amusement park in 1973, Joyland tells the story of the summer in which college student Devin Jones comes to work as a carny and confronts the legacy of a vicious murder, the fate of a dying child, and the ways both will change his life forever. Joyland is a brand-new novel and has never previously been published.

A really beautiful story.
Revisado: 04-12-25
Unlike a lot of King’s other works, some of which are truly horrifying & gory, this story was gentle, sad and full of the pathos of a young man’s life when he comes to that place where he has to make some hard decisions. At the same time there are supernatural elements that keep it in the realm that Stephen King’s readers love. I loved this story and I think it would be especially appeal to people who grew up in

A little unsatisfying at the end.
Revisado: 04-07-25
…but mostly a good time travel story, with great narration. I just thought the heroine might have learned a lesson from her experience and not wanted to make the same mistakes again; but I guess I’m being unrealistic to think people ever learn from their mistakes.

Historia
Crowford, a sleepy coastal town in the south of England, might seem like an oasis of calm and tranquility. Beneath the surface, however, dark secrets are waiting to claim fresh victims, and ghostly figures plot revenge. Having finally decided to leave the hustle of London, Daisy and Richard Johnson buy two houses on Nelson Street, a picturesque street in the center of Crowford. One house is perfect and ready to move into, while the other is a fire-ravaged wreck that needs a lot of work.

I like a good ghost story.
Revisado: 03-24-25
Good concept for this story. It reminded me of the enchanted cottage. The only thing I will say about the editing…many passages repeated themselves twice. I’ve never heard this happen before on audible. It was like a skipping record, and it happened more than several times. Otherwise, nice, yet spooky story of enduring love.

A nice little exorcism story
Revisado: 03-17-25
The story had elements of a lot of demonic possession stories I have read, seen or heard in the past, but it was unique in it’s way and well worth a listen. I just wish the main character didn’t have a tendency to faint so much. The narrator was very good emotion and cadence, but I couldn’t tell if he was British or American. It wavered.

Another convoluted horror.
Revisado: 12-23-24
Bentley Little is an excellent writer. This one makes me think there may be bits of himself reflected in his main character. Not the type of book you want to put down. You could feel the confusion in Steven’s head. Little has that ability to take his readers right into his character’s situation. Good book.
